Bought the scarf for Syanna which turned out to be a good thing. Killed Detlaff or rather, defeated him. Geralt's got a point about focusing on the bad and forgetting the good. Thus, I had him advised Syanna to forgive and to advocate for her during the trial. It won't be easy but I hope she would overcome the negatives and live positively thereafter. I enjoyed the DLC quite a bit but I wasn't happy with any of the main quest endings (I played a few different ones). How would you have wanted them to end?

I'm noticing an increase number of Indie horror theme games in which the player basically maneuver a camera (FPV) in dark / dim house / zone, solving puzzles and generally getting the occasional jump scares. With little budget, I guess this is the best way to make a game. But it becomes a well worn path. Then there are little known devs like Asobo Studio, Unknown Worlds Entertainment that made A Plague Tale; Innocence, Subnautica with complete stories, chars, good VAs, good gameplay and music that can kick any AAA title on its ass. It's to be hoped more aspiring devs would appear. I forgot I took this snapshot. Oh the indignity. I changed Geralt's hairstyle later to shaved with a ponytail. He looks neater. After reading up on the "benefits" of NG+, I decided there're none. Better to start a new game.

In Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, I managed to save the twin sisters of the first hub (who's name is escaping me atm). I did have to restart the game, because you need at least a seduction of 2 and a persuasion of 4 to pull this off. But I did it! I won't spoil anything more though, you want to know how to do that, you gots to do it yourself and find out! I'm playing a...I think its a ventrue (the good looking seductive ones). And I'm going full on Melee. I also found the asian vamp in the first hub, and destroyed the art gallery. I'm trying to buff up my strength, so I increase my melee and barehanded fighting skills. The better to grab enemies in a fight and drain them during it. I do wish this game had a morale system for the NPC's your fighting. Something where they can get scared and run from you, while your fighting them. Lets face it, they see someone take a shotgun blast to the chest, then sink their teeth into your friend and watch your friend fall over dead, while you start moving towards them, would scare the crap out of 90% of people. Ah well, its not perfect. Still a great game though! I'm going to try and stick with the Camerilla this time around. See if I can get that swanky new apartment from Lacroix. Normally, I like siding with the anarcs. But I've also never beated the game, so I'm hoping having the sherrif on my side would let the game go smoother. It's not easy to get Jeanette and Therese to work together. Took me some playtroughs to make that happen. A minor spoiler:you get the apartment from Lacroix, if you are polite and do his missions exactly, as he said (for example without drawing attention to you) relatively early in the game and you can still side, with whoever you want, the apartment is yours. If you like more content for a future play through, try the ClanQuestmod, it adds new content for every clan and a whole Sabbat storyline, that really is fun to play. ooo, that'd be nice. Sadly, I'm completely avoiding stealth. So I don't think I'll be able to not get spotted on the ship. But I did get hacking to lvl 4 on accident. Mostly because I was choosing the attribute for defense, and that happens to affect hacking as well. Ah well, what can you do?

I enjoyed the DLC quite a bit but I wasn't happy with any of the main quest endings (I played a few different ones). How would you have wanted them to end?
I wanted an ending with Syanna punished without having to kill her, and with the Duchess on board with it. Instead, the Duchess wanted Syanna to get away with no punishment at all. In one ending, if Syanna is killed and Detlaff isn't, Geralt is the one who goes to jail. Just....no.
Having them both wind up dead wasn't awful but Geralt was sad about it, so I redid it for a different ending, where the sisters end up hugging and all was forgiven.
I had no problem killing Detlaffe after his attack on the city, though I do wish there'd been a way to do it without turning Regis into an outcast.

Pathfinder Kingmaker, Halimar the third edition. Got this iteration of Halimar to where the first one got. He started his Kingdom of Roses, got the young silver haired fellow as his envoy, slept with the treasurer (still not the gnome :C) and dealt with the troll menace. The kobold side got pummeled, literally, but this time Halimar got to do his monologue before killing the troll. Which was super worth the whole restart. Heh. Also got the nice troll out alive, which didn't feel in character when playing, but thinking back, why wouldn't he want to preserve the life of a clean, tidy troll who doesn't eat humans and understands puns? Give him some etiquette lessons and a suit and he's got a nice body guard right there. So had a pretty good time. Especially since I'm getting a small hang on the spells and stuff so he's faring a lot better than his previous incarnations.

I'm not really surprise that Geralt goes to jail if Syanna is killed and Detlaff isn't. That's what I'd expect the Duchess's response to be. For all her astuteness, sagacity, compassionate, resourceful traits, passions can overcome her. Still a lousy outcome, I agree. Ditto on Syanna receiving some form of punishment despite the reconciliation. I got to look up that Elder meeting since I didn't do that. It sounded daunting which was why I opted to take Regis's suggestion.

More Pathfinder Kingmaker, Halimar edition. Today he visited the swamp and got some shrooms for a witch. And unlike Kaira he was able to dispatch of the shambling mound near the shrooms because his companions weren't too busy throwing up over their shoes. So hurrah for that! Also watched Amiri kick down a Hodag, on her own no less. Jaethal got a smack on the wrist for trying to help. Then went to the Verdant Chambers and saw the wicked side of fey he so admired. Then after getting out he called his team and slaughtered the lot. Much manic cackling was done. Then Valerie and Jaethal's quest. Did reload three times on Valerie's quest. First because I forgot to buy somethings from Oleg and couldn't be bothered to trek back. Second because I realized she wasn't getting in any hits because she was fighting defensive, but realized it juuuust at the end of the fight so figured I'd let her get one more go. Third time was a success. Not much worth it story wise but there was enough satisfaction to make it worth it. But so far the combat has been going pretty nice. Except for our trip into Candlemere tower where those nasty wisps are tanning our hides regardless of our protection from electricity D:. And now Halimar is sorta lollygagging on state business. Second part of the curse is about to kick in and I haven't dealt with the lost kid yet.
Also tested out Varnhold's lot, since I figured if I don't do it now I'd let the chance pass me by. Again. Realized that you do not play as Maegar but get to make your own mook, which was an interesting surprise and made the potential romance thing in the dlc description make ALOT more sense. Heh. So now the chunky little cinnamon bun Kenja has been born. Already sorta charmed by Maegar's attitude. Which is nice since it keeps me from worrying about the upcoming combats. But so far, not what I was expecting and pleasantly so.

TW Three Kingdoms It's a Total War game so gameplay basics I'm familiar with. I've not gone very far into it except that this game is energy intensive; my UPS screams. I pulled most graphic settings down to high, shadows to medium, still not good enough. The power grid for my home is not stable so I will not chance unplugging the UPS and have to put up with the screaming. I fiddled with the audio settings and finally set all VAs to Chinese. It's odd to hear ambassadorial voice in English and the general's voice in Chinese. The initial voice over was in English when I start the game. I restart after setting it to Chinese. The difference is palpable. Every language has its distinctive unique characteristic. Spoken Chinese has a certain inflection, tone and cadence. It's clear the English VA was directed to mimic the Chinese counterpart but it sounded odd, off and ponderous to me because it doesn't fit. It would have been better if the English introduction was, shall I say, English style. Additionally, some of the things the Chinese VA and generals said is not conveyed totally in the English translation. This of course, could not be helped for players who do not understand Chinese. Anyway, the Chinese VAs are excellent. I may have to further downgrade the graphics if I'm to play in peace.

But so far, not what I was expecting and pleasantly so. Btw, Owlbear devs are going to patch the game with what they called Enhanced Edition; thy're presently in beta. They took surveys and it's likely they'll make changes to the last two stage battles of the game. I guess you got the Varnhold DLC. I didn't when I started a new PT last month after giving it up in disgust with the bugs I encountered after game launch. They made a boo boo because I got the new location for the DLC. I can enter, explore but proceed no further though. They patched it out later, a relief because I so dislike seeing a incomplete location on the map.

Awwwww man! For the past 15 years, there was a question that had meen nagging at me every now and then. One of the first PC gaming magazine's demo CDs that I ever had had ademo for a game on it, where you were alone on some space ship and had to solve puzzles to repair the ship and access new areas and so forth. The whole thing was from the ego perspective with this kinda moving from screen to screen control scheme, that was rather typical for 90s adventures (like Myst for example). I didn't really remember much more than that and that the atmospgere was superb and everything on the ship looked very sleek. Just the other day, I finally found the game on GOG, completely by accident, when I was going through there sales tab. It's called "Mission Critical" and since it was on sale, I bought it for $2.50. Having quite a bit of fun with it now, it's definitely still playable today. But mainly I am just happy that long time mystery about the identity of that game has finally been solved. Other than that, and if I need something more up to date, I am playing Observation, which kinda actually goes into a similar direction. You are the on-board AI of the space station Observation and perceive your surroundings through cameras, drones and reports on systems schematics. Strange things are happening on the station and you have to figure them out, together with the lone remaining Astronaut on board. Atmosphere is fantastic, graphics are pretty good for a more indie kinda production. It's a pretty low paced puzzle and story game. Only in-game criticism I have so far is that the pan speed for the cameras is very slow. Otherwise, I love it. Only other downside is that it's an Epic Store exclusive, which almost prevented me from buying it but then, like A Plague Tale, it's another indie AA story game and I really want to support these kinds of games these days by buying them right at release. If you don't have too much of an issue with the Epic store and if you like story-puzzle games, I can recommend it, based on the little time (ca. 2 hours) I have spent with it so far. In any case, after about two weeks in the plague ridden medieval times, I am finally back in space!

Graphics are good, VAs are good, story is interesting. I would have bought it after the initial sampling except that it's a EGS title. Indie devs want to get more returns, that is understandable. However, given EGS policies and the people behind it, no. They will get nothing from this end, much as I want to support Indie devs. If it goes to Steam or GOG, I'll readily buy it. I've already bought A Plague Tale Innocence on Steam despite seeing the entire gameplay and ending. It is a great example how smaller studios could outdo big name studios and I am supportive of such effort and creativity with no MTX involved.

Obsidian Gryphon Yeah I've been seeing something about an Enhanced Edition. I do hope they change the last chapters, since the difficulty spike at The House at the Edge of Time was pretty ridiculous. Didn't find the final fight so bad, it was frustrating but nowhere near the hair tearing levels of the final fight in Baldur's Gate 2 Throne of Bhaal. In my opinion at least. Got the season pass, since Varnhold's lot locked off Halimar's original portrait and couldn't have him reborn with the wrong face now could I? Also came in late so didn't have any serious bugs and had spent enough time in the game that even if the DLC turned out to be bust I'd still gotten enough enjoyment that it wouldn't bother me too much. So figured I'd just get the lot of them and hopefully enjoy, otherwise no big loss. So far I've been fairly happy. But I can also see good reasons for holding off on buying it, since I've seen so many bug complaints when looking up other stuff. --- Today's Pathfinder Kingmaker session was the Kenja edition. Or well, Kenja v3, since as predicted the combat gave me pains. So tried a few iteration of her (and another lass who I liked but didn't have that cinnamon charm) and am now semi happy. Also created her companions instead of taking the premade ones like the first iteration. So far the combat has been really annoying, but it usually is when I play game which start you at higher levels, since I haven't been eased into the playstyle and am waaaaaayyyy too lazy to read, calculate and plan feat benefit ahead of time. And I'm terribly lazy when it comes to buffing. Haste and bless is usually the most effort I'll put into it. So will take some of the blame. Story on the other hand has made up for it. Am digging all the admiration for Kenja and her path into a perceptive flirt. Also just really like how Maegar is running things atm. Been save scumming for skill checks and dialog, since I figure I'll make the most of this run in case something awful is waiting at the end. But I do like seeing how things can change depending on if you fail or succeed at a check. So that's nice too. So all in all had fun with a small tint of frustration.

Yeah, that's right, especially Ming Xiao and the Sheriff. Exactly. And every time I tried to fight them in the past, I lost. So I'm trying to make sure I have the points in the right place, to be able to fight them. So I was planning to just ignore stealth. But...well...we'll see.

I'm playing the clan quest mod at the moment and there are some really heavy fights very early on. For example, when you do the Gangrels clan quest. You have often the option to try and escape, but if you fight, it's hard, Ming Xiao hard. And I already have the integrated arsenal mod disabled, where guns make much more damage

I finally finished Cradle! Very wonky short game I almost refunded after 10min because the controller support is an absolute broken ass joke. The cursor kept moving on its own. Impossible to click on things that way. So I had to do a mouse controller hybrid thing. Used the controller to get around and the mouse to pick up things. It worked out in the end... The worst part however were the god-awful cube puzzled that make up half of the playtime and interrupt an otherwise interesting weird narrative about some kind of apocalyptic event. This game is a trip. Very surreal feel. You play a 18-year old boy in the Mongolian desert, all alone except for the robot girl in his yurt and a traveling merchant, also a robot. Oh, and an eagle. The entire story takes place in a small area. There's your yurt and then there's the stylish amusement park-like ruined structure: You have to go visit the park over and over as you're trying to repair the robot and figure out who the girl used to be, who you are and what the hell is going on. Several decades in the future, people started uploading their minds into robotic bodies. Society became obsessed with beauty. Everybody and everything received a number based on their beauty. These robotic bodies needed extensive maintenance. It was discovered that the feelings of beautiful people produced a substance that keeps the minds connected to the bodies. So everybody craved their feelings. Ugly people in turn produced a kind of explosive poison that in the worst case would let their bodies explode like bombs. As a result, ugly people were cast out and feared. They were basically involuntary suicide bombers. However, the pretty people weren't exactly leading great lives either. Their valuable feelings were drained from them. They were milked like cows for that substance needed to maintain immortality. They suffered too. Yes, super weird scenario! All quite ridiculous. The real mystery unfolds gradually. What was going on in that park and how is it connected to the boy and the robot girl. The showdown at the end is the coolest part of the game. Picture yourself running around with the broken body of the girl during a lightning storm, this music playing: You need to revive her and finally get the answers to everything... Except, the game ends abruptly, the credit cutscene plays giving you but a hint. You need to piece it all together yourself! There is an actual story here. If you read all the news clips and other clues you get a pretty good idea who the boy is and what happened when the park exploded and how it connects to the credits scene. I'm not sure if the narrative worked or not... I think the game had great potential for a really interesting story but the execution wasn't great. Game has a nice art style, really cool music and a unique atmosphere. But the gameplay itself is HORRID. I had to look up most of the things I had to do because they were either poorly explained or very fiddly. Like a point and click adventure you have to put things together in a certain order. One time you're running around looking for clues on the ground. Everything was an ordeal to pull off for me. This game was not fun to play. I like the idea. But in the end it's 5/10 for me but may be appealing to some people who are into weird tales that require you to actually use your brain to understand. I might buy the soundtrack though because this is good stuff: Oh, and here's an actual review:

I didn't listen to all of it but I really like what I heard of the music. Hey Unicephalon 40-D thought you might like this game and music?

GOG is having a sale so of course I had to buy stuff. Obduction is free until June 1. I had bought it on Steam and then refunded it because I thought it was making me nauseous, but I think something else was making me sick. Even still, it was free so I couldn't pass it up. I bought Thronebreaker at 50% off, Syberia 3, an add-on for Everspace, and Metro 2033 to try out. It's FP so I may hate it immediately but the series sounds interesting so thought I'd give it shot. Now I just need time and motivation to play.....something.

So wrapped up Varnhold's lot. And No. You can't do that! Damn you, damn you all to Hells! So yeah it was pretty good. The middle was fine combat wise but the last part was a bit of a slog. It was quite manageable, just tedious. Story was really fun on the other hand, so it made up for it. Am at a bit of a standstill with Halimar's run. Lawful Evil is hard for me and I'm just constantly slipping into the good territory then levering it with random evil acts so it just turns into Chaotic. :C Rolled a bit back trying to fix things. But it's putting bandages on a boat level of fixing. So Halimar went hunting. But he's really bad at it. So he was even worse at protecting his hunting companions. So RIP Aldori twins. I never even spoke with you. And RIP Annamede , because after he shared a drink with her the drunken fool walked straight into a crowd of Worgs and got wrecked. And boo she's alive back at the lodge. At least allow your body to cool. Then it was time for a bit of lollygagging. All the advisers who could rank up were busy so Halimar indulged in a bit of tomb raiding while they got their stuff back together. Parked him somewhere in the tomb since it's getting a bit too tricky for him and was too lazy to start unloading from the inventory so he can leave that place un-encumbered. But it was fairly fun.
