I think I know what I need to get all those metal flowers to open and I'm hoping I'm wrong, because if I'm right it's going to be a long, long time until I can open them up. Opening the metal flower ability is tied to a main quest location. I know because I came across it when trying out the game on a console a year ago. If I'm not wrong it's at San Francisco. Looking for a certain bastard's hideout.

FW Finished the Hunting Grounds at Plainsong. Thus far, I scored all three stripes at each HG. That's two HG down. I looked up a vid on what's best to do in the beginning. Loot everything. Get the ability to harvest more resources from plants and build up a great store of healing herbs. It's not necessary to go to the stash to restock. The pouch will automatically refill if the mats are in the stash. Upgrade the armour even if it's starter kit because it really helps. The advice is also to move the main quest along before doing any of the SQs for each zone. I've come across the drone data retrieval but can't get to the plane wrecks because of the metal flowers. I also saw a vid on Dragon's Dogma 2. It's hilarious because the player was trapped forever; being mauled (held in place) by three wolves while the pawns, instead of killing the wolves, were all busy healing him. 🤣 So he's stuck and couldn't get out of it. I don't know how he got out of it besides closing the game.

Ghost Recon WildlandsTheme of the day, killing civillians. Like 7 of them. PN Agua Verde is a fun little zone to do. Basically back to back Undetected missions of the like. Think another first here that wifey helped set up but basically fort he first mission, where we located the assitant, we went up across from the estate in a sniper's nest half way up the mountain and began to take them out via sniping them all. Pretty much think we got everyone but the last guy watching the back of the house...and then we got him too. Tracking Carzita's assistant down and it took us to an area/ set piece that we did a little bit ago. So that is always annoying when THAT happens. Worse still couldn't actually find the bastard so I hit on the idea of starting a bit of a firefight to draw him out. It worked. Killed a sniper. Killed a dude. He popped out. Got a shot off. Then we had to dust off in a real hurry summoned a helo and then charged for it under fire. Next area, the one of the dirty politician, similar story. Just this time I landed the helicopter in the middle of the two houses...and there was Sicarios in BOTH houses. Bit tense for a second. The mission with Carzita himself was...well BS...because this is where I just got a lot of civvies killed in a row. We were quite careful on our approach only having to kill like one guy while she went in to interrogate Carzita. But it still triggered the Sicarios around us into a bit of a tiff. And then the Civvies started coming in. So I was in a room, wife was behind me interogating him, I had the door covered. And the Civvies charged me. Granted I kind of get it in a way because if you are hearing gun shots you want to get to cover...but then it makes no sense to go TOWARDS said gun shots or where you see a whole bunch of your friends get killed. And well it was a tough situation where I had to be alert for any signs of movement and so when they came in, pop pop pop. Final mission in PN Agua Verde is one of those weird ones...just going into an area to hack said guest list and then diseminate it to the world. Given certain recent IRL news stories makes you wonder. But no drone support, no high ground, so ended up triggering a running gun fight because they were launching mortars at us. Eventually wife got the guy doing the mortaring but I went down once, she couldn't get to me, so went to do the hacking. All by herself. Then I got caught in kind of a rock in a hard place and went down again. Two bunkers, each with guards, killed the first guy but the second took cover, a helicopter started to come after me so I decided to try going after him...but then the second guy popped up and smoked me. She still did the hacking all by herself though. Then some slight side mission shennangans. First off dazk wifey actually has figured out how to fly the planes. Got it in the first attempt the one we did. Picked off a sicario guy and two convoys. It was a bit fun because during one of the convoys we summoned a helicopter to go after it and the stupid rebels plopped it down right in front of a house full of sicarios. They started to shoot at me basically as soon as I popped up and tried gettign on so I had to get out to start engaging them while she got in the helicopter and turned it on. Got in for a very quick dust off under fire again then off to get the convoy. For the convoy though as we were wrapping it up Unidad and a UNidad helicopter showed up so wife dropped me off at the LZ and I tagged the now, unfortunatley, destroyed truck. Just with the Unidad there even with her able to blow it up well I went down again and Unidad was beginning to send in ground forces. So I urged wife to just bail off to break contact and she hovered for a second, looked like she was going to land, then decided better of it...so while looking up at her from my perspective and this helicopter just took off "I'm sorry ziptie!" (nickname) before flying off while squeeing 'EEeee...'. It was pretty cute and gave me a good chuckle.

I don't like that game design, if that's how they intended it. Another game design I don't like is when devs create new mechanics (in this game the grapple and the shieldwing) and then force players to use them (the jumpjet in MEA also comes to mind). It's not like they replace the jumping and climbing, they just make it more cumbersome and button-mashy.

FW
Found the base. I kept flunking the glide until I changed back to hold instead of toggle.
Of the three destinations, I'm heading first to the far west for the metal flower ability.
There'll be new animals to hunt; pelicans, crabs, lobsters, ocean fish and gulls. Not looking forward to fishing. I grabbed a couple of fish near Plainsong though as I was opening up a location.

M yguess is they didn't wan tit t ofeel like too muc hof a copy paste of Zero Dawn whic hwa swhy they were added I d oagree though that it's better not to overcomplicate things. Bu tas long as we onl yneed to use them in puzzl esituatoins such as environmenta lpuzzles lik getting fr5om point A to point B an dw edon' thavet ouse them a tspeed like when escapin gfrom the Eclipse base in Zero Dawn then it's no ttoo bad. So far i tseems like we're only using them in puzzle situations which I can handle. Of course I thin kI'm still early in the game as I suspec tDeath's door (the last quest I did) is still an early game quest. Thankfull yit's no ttoo bad a tleas tearly game. Only thing I'm no tenjoying is the swimming sections where you have t opush agains tcurrents trying t oget through as that can get awkward at times. Thankfully you can turn the oxygen thing off to make it easier.

Phew, IT WORKED!!!! I might have gone through a bug scare there with switching between the Prawn and Seamoth to finally make it to homebase with our valuable cargo and now, oh now we enjoy and craft as many upgrades as we possibly can to return to that place with the Prawn and uncover the mystery of the last two remaining Alien Facilities:

Missed out on my first Honkai Star Rail event(s), not that it was a major one. And I only got part into the second, late at night until the server daily reset occurred. Good news for the second is that it just had limited time (non-exclusive) rewards layered on top, but the content otherwise stays.
It just feels weird after so long that I flat-out didn't participate in something. I blame it on: -real life things.. a lot of it -playing FFVII Remake instead, currently finishing a 'NG+' on Normal, planning for Hard later -occasionally doing a push into Genshin (usually event) content instead of Star Rail -MILD burnout on Star Rail, enough that 2.0 content and its up to over 10+ (15? 20?) hours of content was a bit too intimidating so I barely chipped at it until the final days
Its not a big deal, especially since there were no rewards that were 'missables', but I did lose out on resources and a free 4star character, albeit of a selection of characters I already have.

Found the fish in the lake where there's a loot box locked up by a metal flower. There is no equipment to catch fish. Have to swim for them and grab by hand.

dazk I've been sneak-peeking at the Horizon thread. Sorry to hear you are having such troubles with the new game. Can't say anything about the computer issues but as for gameplay, remember I had a heck of a time at the beginning of the first game, getting used to the combat especially. I turned it down to story mode (still using it) and while I would still get knocked around like a ragdoll sometimes, the hit to my health was minimal and I could plug along just fine. Hopefully it gets better for you.

Thanks I did a file verify and whilst it didn't say that it found anything it was fine the last hour or so but it's weird it was like I lost a whole lot of ammunition resources like Machine Muscle. Bizarre. Been a bit better today di the Eclipse Quest.

FW Caught two salmon in a pond. Weird place to turn up in. I've been clearing out bad mob bases too along the way to the west. Finished two cauldrons. The second is fun because it's a Tallneck cauldron. Didn't fight the Tallneck of course but a Rollerback. It's like a bad Sonic the Hedgehog, ready to roll up and cut with its spines. Came across a coastal cauldron. I remember coming across this one on the console fiddling about a year ago. Didn't try for it because I know it's locked by the metal flower thing. I think it also requires the deep dive breather. Not sure about this. The deep dive breather is picked up at Casino Land! I mean Las Vegas. Not going there yet so this cauldron is likely the last to go for. Image

Yeah, time for some exploration in the Volcanic Zone in our search for the Thermal Plant and we do this avoiding many Warpers as well the big Sea Dragons (one seen on the corner of the screen) while we also take the opportunity to mine resources. We find the Power Plant and then get a pointer to the last facility, on to success oh, I also activate a very convenient portal:

Forbidden West Found a note about everyone's favorite machine oil drinker at a camp site. I think the Oseram died....they were splayed out around the camp fire. Did not get much done yesterday as week nights offer limited play time. I helped out some Tenakth, tried to help out some Oseram but need the under water breather thingie (ugh, I HATE this mechanic!) and found the above note. Also had a chance to try out the adhesive throwing weapon - it's a blastsling that also throws the explosive variety bomb so I swapped it in and upgraded it. Used it on a couple Leaplashers to try to keep the leaping to a minimum. Seemed to work ok for that.

That machine oil guy was creepy as but I liked that side quest.

Forbidden West Made it to Scalding Spear. Spent probably 20 minutes or more looking for the vista location - those are tough but satisfying when it finally clicks. I think that was my 3rd one. Found a painter in the settlement so decided to give Aloy some color: Tame, I know, but she is a Nora Seeker, right?
Ran into a known bug in the Wound in the Sand quest (guy you have to follow gets stuck). To fix it I fast-traveled to a camp halfway across the map, then fast-traveled back to the city. After that he took the right path and the quest proceeded properly.
Bought a couple new weapons as well, a Purgewater Bow (very helpful vs Widemaws!) and a plasma....bolt thrower, I think? I tried out the shredder thing I have and wasn't too impressed with the damage it did. Maybe my aim just sucks but I seem to have better luck with the Hunter Bow so I switched back to that.

FW Picked up the vine cutter. With the ability to explode fire gleam, well, that's two out of three obstacles out of the way. I think I'll head for Las Vegas next for the deep dive breather. It's going to be needed for a couple of main quests. After that. Ha! The map is mine. Getting the flying mount will come last but it can't be helped. I think flying is the least vital though it really helps getting over cliffs, etc.

Still working through WotR. I hit a very nasty performance bug that I was at least able to figure out. DON'T pick up the newer Mythic Armor focus abilities. I gave one to Regill and the game turned into a stutter fest until I removed it with toybox. So they seem to be broken. Anyways here is my main character that I SWEAR I will be sticking with...I don't have restartitis..honestly! Did a mix with the visual mod to combine gear from Magus/Inquisitor/Paladin, I like the outcome
