What that edition comes with reminds me of why I avoid strategy guides: When you've seen enough on how the world gets fleshed out, it kinda holds up the whole having-an-adventure part of it, exploring something unknown.
Oh, Ubisoft. :|

Rough edges aside (facial animations, some graphics) it's looking good. They've really expanded gameplay ad exploration. And actual story quests instead of cut/paste activities.

Watched a preview yesterday and I gotta say, the new AC really looks promising. I like that they really seem to try and re-invent the series to an extent. after what? 10 games or something, it's time to go for something a bit different. I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.

I stopped after AC II or was it III. The new one looks interesting.

I find this discussion of quest design promising... As long as it is not the only fleshed out mission in the game, and there are at least 10 of them that are as involved, I think it would be money well-spent. I am really looking forward to the game, the setting is just too awesome.

They have picked an interesting time period: 49 BCE onwards. I enjoy the way that Assassin's Creed weaves and plays with history (though they overdid it with AC III in my view ~ Connor makes American independence happen.. ) Assuming Bayek's story runs parallel with key events in Egypt (and Cleopatra's life) 49-29 BCE, it may be a bit like Game of Thrones... Nerdy timeline lifted from the internet which may or may not have anything to do with ACO's plot: - 49 BCE: Cleopatra VII rules Egypt (aged 20) after father’s death in 51 BCE. Cleopatra is married to her 12 year old brother, Ptolemy XIII.
- 48 BCE: Julius Caesar’s Roman rival Pompey flees to Egypt where he is assassinated. Caesar and Cleopatra meet.
Destruction of the Library of Alexandria.
- 47 BCE: Cleopatra becomes Caesar's mistress. Caesar uses his army to defeat and destroy Cleopatra's rival for power in Egypt, her brother-husband Ptolemy XIII. Cleopatra marries 13-year-old brother Ptolemy XIV.
- 46 BCE: Cleopatra gives birth to Caesar's child (Ptolemy Caesar, ‘Caesarion’).
- 45 BCE: Cleopatra leaves Egypt (to Rome).
- 44 BCE: Caesar is assassinated. Cleopatra returns to Egypt. Her brother Ptolemy XIV is assassinated.
- 42 BCE: With Mark Antony’s support Cleopatra's younger sister, Arsinoe, is executed.
- 40 BCE: Cleopatra bears Antony's children (twins). Cleopatra tried (and fails) to seduce Judea’s King Herod.
- 37 BCE: Cleopatra marries (the already married) Mark Anthony. Roman conflicts around the Middle East with mixed results.
- 32-31 BCE: Cleopatra lives in Greece.
- 31 BCE: Mark Antony and Cleopatra suicide.

Can make for some absolutely amazing scenes and gameplay On top of that, there are so many conspiracy theories/stories surrounding Ancient Egypt that makes it perfect for an AC game. Rather convient location for it's present day plot. I have this on pre-order already.

So much of what we see here is straight out of Witcher/Souls style gameplay. I say bring it on. It looks a bit rough now, but the potential is huge. I hope they can polish it up in time.

IIRC they said we're going to Greece in the sequel, so I guess that means we might actually see Caesar get assassinated. Could be interesting. :S They also established in AC2 that an Assassin killed Cleopatra, but not Bayek, so I wonder how that'll play out.

Oh, I am disappointed. I was hoping for an actual Anciet Egypt, not the Hellenistic one. Oh, well, can't be perfect, I suppose. Still, should have a good scenery.

It is three months away from release, right?
Also, if it called Origins, does this mean they'd never go back in history then b/c that's the game the Order is formed, in Roman times? Sorry, I only saw a movie, so don't know the lore.

Sorry, I only saw a movie, so don't know the lore. Nope,AFAIK, the Assassin order dates back all the way to the First Civilization and the human rebellion (i.e. the dawn of independent mankind in a way). Also, the first specific mention of an assassin that I am aware of is that Xerxes the 1st was killed by a Persian Assassin with a hidden blade, so they were active in a similar form as we know from the games hundreds of years BC. Also, never forget one of the most important rules of the entertainment industry: You can always make a prequel, always. ...And if that rule doesn't apply for whatever reason, you can always do a reboot.

Ah, good, though I suppose they will always focus on the popular history bites to anchor the story. I don't mind, I suppose, I really love the game's premise save for the angst-OMG-freedom part (maybe it was movie-specific stratagem, heh) and would have tried it sooner if they did a mysterious Assassin for each period with CC. Wish though they hit on the ever popular Tutankhamen or Ramses rather than MA/Cleo. But, I suppose Romans are ever irresistible.

The CGI trailer was lovely and good at increasing hype but it being purely that I'm interesting but still very cautious of this game. It got so much potential that I dont want to set myself up for a huge disappointment

Disappointment is life, however (in my view), - ACI - Good
- ACII - Great
- ACB - Good
- ACR - Fair
- ACIII - Poor
- ACL - Fair
- ACIV - Great
- ACRo - Fair
- ACU - Poor
- ACS - Good
I'm more than willing to give ACO the time of day.
