I played most of them but never finished AoD and TRU. The reboot though, I finished them both and love the new Lara (more realistic) and gameplay.

I've never played any of the older ones, but played the 2013(14?) reboot and really enjoyed it. A lot of fun and absolutely stunning visuals.
I've yet to get Rise because I find the price point to be a bit high for a 12-15 hour experience, but will be doing so once on sale.
If anyone has played on PC with NVidia - how is Rise of the Tomb Raider running?

Tomb Raider was my first playstation game. Loved it to death. The idea of running around exploring old ancient ruins was always appealing to me. I own all but AoD and the newest one. The original is still my all time favorite and I personally believe it's still the best one. TR4 The Last Revelation is also one of my favorites probably because the story takes place in various locations in Egypt so not as much globe trotting in that one. I began to lose interest after TR5 (Chronicles) cuz honestly it wasn't that great. I didn't have a PS2 at the time AoD came out but since there were so many bad reviews about the game (glitches, graphics, etc.) I never bothered to get it. Plus, those movies with Angelina Jolie were just fucking awful. Legend came out several years later with a new developer (Crystal Dynamics) and I can't remember how I got my hands on a copy but I played it and really enjoyed it. Not the best TR game but still fun none the less. It was short which was probably the biggest complaint from fans. Plus I liked Keely Hawes as her voice. Legend seemed to revive my love for the franchise and when I heard they would be releasing an anniversary game with Crystal Dynamics basically making a remake of the original. I was excited enough that I joined the Tomb Raider forums around that time to discuss TRA. It was actually really great. Didn't get TRU because I never got a PS3 or 360 so my TR loving went on hiatus. Then the reboot came out and I had a 360 by that point. Thought it looked great from the trailers (sort of reminded me more of the Christopher Nolan batman movies for some reason) and I bought a used copy. Simply amazing although quite different from the older games (so much violence.) A lot of die hard old school fans hated it claiming it wasn't a "real" TR game but whatever. I eventually got TRU afterwards to catch up on the Legend trilogy and liked it a lot too. Underworld had amazing environments and graphics and fairly well level design but the combat was just irritating. So yeah, TR rules. I'll eventually at some point get either xbox one or PS4 and get RofTR but for now I'm in no hurry.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is my pick for game of the year. They took what was amazing about the reboot and double downed and expanded it. I love this game. I had ZERO problem purchasing all of the DLC's. I am at 97% completion and I am obsessed with getting 100%...Im trying to do it without looking online for the location of all the items. I cant wait for the next DLC to come out next month.

The reboot titles never gave me any problems. I enjoyed the second far better than the first because gameplay was smooth; there was none of the irritating factors that appeared in the first. More tombs to raid, more animals to cut, etc.

After the AoD shitstorm, Core Design was fired and it seemed like the series was about to die. Thankfully, Crystal Dynamics got on board and Legend was released. It was just a hint of what they were capable of doing for future TR games, kind of like them getting their foot in the door. I'm going to have to play the reboot again soon. Haven't played it in almost three years but it's a great game.

I've played TB 2, TB 3, TB Legend and TB 2013. I can't say that I've ever been a big fan of the series but the games that I played were quite enjoyable. I consider the 2013 reboot the best one out of the four games I played, without a doubt. I highly recommend it. I am just waiting for a Steam sale to buy the latest game (ROTTR).

I've played the first couple of games, and dabbled in a couple of others, but really became a fan with the reboot. Yeah, the rebooted TR are among my top games of the last 5 years. Solid gameplay, great environments, fun puzzles, good storylines. Though I've always found it a bit hilarious how quickly she goes from her traumatic "first kill" to full-on Goddess of Death. Holy crap is she brutal with that climbing axe! Highly recommended!

It's been a while so I forget the name of it, but the wide shotgun she uses to clear obstacles on the 'slippery-slope' sections does an impressive amount of eye-catching damage. Favourite remains the bow, though - death is most terrifying when silent....

Original Tomb Raider was one of the first games I ever played and my older sister was a huge Lara Croft wannabe. Tomb Raider 3 was pretty bad and I didn't play them again until the 2013 reboot and absolutely loved it. I bought an Xbox 1 just so I could play Rise of The Tomb Raider and I'm pretty pumped that it's finally coming to Ps4.

I started a new game on Underworld. Holy crap the camera angles/movements are so bad. I don't remember them being THIS bad. The combat is really sloppy too. With that aside, the environments are the best thing about the game. Level design was improved since Legend and Anniversary and the sense of exploration was restored since the older games. However I'm not really feeling motivated to continue the game.

But i wasn't playing Tomb Raider at that time that i made this thread so there you go i'm of the hook here. But yes the rebooted TR games are really awesome and i love both games and i agree with all you say here even the traumatic first kill and the goddess of death part haha. And yes very high recommended.

I played them all , but Tomb raider 3 and Angel of Darkness stunk up tha joint royally... ....I still have the original Tomb Raider and I have Tomb Raider Legend and The Reboot. They did a superb job with the reboot. I haven't picked up Rise of the Tomb Raider yet, but i will pick that up soon. The reboot is one of those rare gems that is far more better than the original.

I am a fan of the games from 1-6, Tomb Raider IV was the one that I found of least quality, it wasn't very interesting to me. I played a few of the games after 6, but the retconning and gameplay changes made me stop playing. So now I only play the older versions. I'm still waiting for Steam to release the gold versions for sale. I need new copies since my CDs were played to death! Literally, they don't work anymore! I did do some work with the level editor. I made some quite fun levels, including a detailed revision of Lara's home. Then the object libraries got corrupted while I was compressing them and I wasn't able to recreate them. The Level editor seems incompatible with modern computers, each time I tried it afterwards, the room span around like a tornado and them stopped at exactly the same place I started! Since I need precision camera control to edit my levels, this meant I wasn't able to resume my level editing work.

Played the Reboot first, thought it was a decent game but not as good as Uncharted. Then I played the original three games, and liked them much more. They're dated, and it shows - the graphics, the controls, the soundtrack, the voice acting, everything. But there's something I can't help but admire about the old titles. It's like listening to old blues and rockabilly that predated modern rock and R&B and appreciating all the nuances that evolved into more modern styles of music. The reboot was a good game. The original TR games were good too, and highly influential to what so many games are today. Also, the Atlantis levels from the first one creeped me out more than anything from the old RE games. I hated those mutants that came running out of nowhere and could soak all that damage.
