So, this might be a noob question. With that being said, do you need a computer in order to have Wi-Fi access? I'd like to get rid of my ancient PC (I'm not even sure how old it is) it's just collecting dust. The only reason why it's being kept is because I wonder if I will no longer have a Internet access point as a result. I use my MacBook Pro as my primary computer. I did try to research it, but nothing really came up.

The answer is kind of yes, kind of no... it depends on what you mean by "computer."
To access wifi you will need a wireless router/modem (you will hear this referred to as a "gateway") and a wifi-capable device. A wifi-capable device is always technically going to be a computer, but it isn't always what one necessarily thinks of as a "computer," as it includes tablets and phones.
If you're wondering whether your signal is being routed through your old PC, the answer is no. It's being routed through your wireless router, and your PC is serving as an access point for the internet (like a cellphone/smartphone would also act as an access point for the internet.)
As long as you have a gateway (wireless router/modem) and an internet signal, you should be able to use the router's password with any wifi-capable device, whether PC, laptop, tablet, or phone.

In my house we have wi-fi connection through modem (I guess that would be the router) and every device that uses wi-fi is connected to the modem, even my pc. I do not require the pc for other devices to make the wi-fi connection.

So, then I just need a better wireless router/modem? I've been having issues with my linksys; dropping my Internet connection and such (the linksys is also old). I don't know if it's just an old linksys; comparatively to my PS4 and other devices, and thus would require more "power" (for lack of a better word). Or it's because I have multiple devices connected to that router. Will I will have a better connection if I upgrade to a new router?

Or it's because I have multiple devices connected to that router. Will I will have a better connection if I upgrade to a new router? You're a bit outside my bailiwick now, unfortunately, but someone else who knows more about what you're specifically asking will hopefully have a better answer for you. I can give you some general knowledge which you can then apply to your specific situation. The strength of your signal depends on a lot of things, and if the "linksys" that you're referring to is your router, that is one of the possibilities, so I'll mention that one first. - Your router can be a problem in a few ways. It can hang and freeze, like any electronic device left on for long periods of time. The most common way of resolving short-term connection issues related to the router is to cycle it. There are generally three ways to do this - the fast way is to unplug the router at the router (rather than at the wall) and leave it unplugged for over 15 seconds before plugging it back in. The middle way is to do a longer cycle, unplugging it for a few minutes. The long way is to factory cycle it, which will depend on your model (and may require a small tool or poking implement.) In general, if cycling it normally doesn't work, you may want to call the manufacturer (if you own it) or your IP (if you rent it.) - The speed of your connection is an obvious one, but the stability is usually seen as more important. Unstable connections will experience more packet loss, which is generally seen as worse than straightforward lag. Very unstable connections will experience periodic interruptions. This instability can happen because of signal interference at your end (moving the wifi-capable device closer to the router, or plugging it directly into the router will help with this) or it can be an issue that your IP needs to address. You may need to replace your router if it is very old and experiencing issues.

Yah. Just replace your router if it's over 5 years old. They've come up with much better solutions in the past 5 years then they have since wifi was first invented.
Some people buy them new like clockwork once a year, I'm not that persistent about it though.

Thanks guys for the help, I have some idea on what to do now.
