Hi, all!
It feels weird to create a new thread...
I suspect it's worth talking about spoiler policy now, before significant spoilers start rolling in. I don't necessarily advocate having separate spoiler and non-spoiler sub-forums like in BSN Prime, but I'm also the kind of person who can sometimes take months for my first playthrough (I was building a new PC when Inquisition came out and didn't even get started until January).
Is relying on diligent use of spoiler tags enough? Should the Twitter thread remain spoiler-free? Should there be a time limit on spoilers (no spoilers for XX number of days/weeks/months after release?)
I like to avoid spoilers. I haven't even read whatever that leak is that people keep talking about (I kinda have the jist of it, despite my efforts, because people keep referencing it...). I don't mind minor things - that's why I read the Twitter thread. But it would have been nice not to know about Cory-pants before I got there.
Apologies if there's already been discussion about this. I missed it, if so.

I came across significant spoilers for DAI in the non-spoiler section of the old BSN 2 months after release. Would really appreciate a robust, and enforced, spoilers policy on the new BSN.

At least for new release games, if there isn't separate story and strategy forums (which would have and not have spoilers respectively), probably should encourage users to put "*spoilers" or something like that in the thread title.

These are good discussions, thanks for raising them.
With DAI nearly 2 years behind us, I don't think it is practicable to require spoilers for any past BioWare games. If anyone hasn't played them by now, they shouldn't be crawling boards such as this one.
I think spoiler robustness needs to go beyond policy i.e. I expect there will a clear outline about which sections are spoiler-free, but we know what people are like, so moderators will be on high alert.
I think there is a case for special 'Safe zone thread(s)' which are particularly highly scrutinised.
Naturally we should make it very clear how spoiler tags work, but people can be dumb with that too.

No, this is an excellent conversation to have and one of the topics I was thinking about last night, actually. I suppose we're fortunate this move is happening during a relative downtime so that we can come to a consensus on spoiler policy before MEA starts having massive info releases (if it even does prior to release).

It's kind and polite trying to avoid spoilers. If there's enough people to pay attention (police it) to it, I'd set up a strict no-spoiler-section and the rest is free to talk about what they want to talk.

Looks nice! I have a question, though. I mostly frequent the Twitter threads. Would this new thread be considered a spoiler-free version of the Twitter thread? Or is it a separate discussion thread? Specifically, when spoilers start happening, would I be expected abandon the Twitter thread and go to the "safe zone" exclusively? Or, instead, is this more of a complement to the Twitter thread for discussion purposes (so the Twitter thread doesn't stray too far off-topic)?

I like the idea in concept... Though having this thread in a forum with other threads with (possible/likely) spoilers in their subject lines could be an issue. Unless a "no spoilers in the subject lines" is strictly enforced in the forum. Maybe create a single Safe Haven Forum for all the games...?

Discussion is where all derailing happens and to tell the truth, while we might try our best, no one knows when will spoiler slip in. Archive is for tweets alone, so if you fear those accidental spoilers, maybe this is the best version for you (well, at least when marketing starts, for now everything is really calm).

I like having separate spoiler-free sub-forums, at least for a little while. Spoilers in subject lines have gotten me before. Although I usually get paranoid when it gets super close to release and just avoid forums altogether.

Yes, I saw that. I like being able to discuss the Tweets, though. I might not participate very often, but I like having the option, and seeing what other people have to say. I really liked how, in BSN Prime, the Twitter thread was in the non-spoiler section of the forum. I'm not saying we should definitely emulate that... but maybe consider it? Or something similar?

Put the Twitter Threads in the Non-Spoiler Boards which did work well enough on the old boards...

I would recommend a Spoiler subsection in whatever board it pertains to for games going forward (I doubt existing games require it). After a set period the spoiler section can be merged into the larger sub-board.

I'd agree with Crutch's proposal. As do I. I think any post should herald spoilers, as a matter of courtesy (not everyone that will visit here plays the moment a game is available) but maybe - as a suggestion - Non Spoiler forums could last 6 months after the release of the final story DLC for a given game? That way, main game has been out at least 1 year (probably closer to 18 months).

There should be a spoiler and non spoiler section once the game releases. When there are spoilers there should be a warning and they (the spoilers) shouldn't be in the title.

The Twitter Archive will likely be spoiler free (unless there's some controversy) because that has no chat.
