Worst. idea. ever. The humor is what makes it a Bioware game and what has made DA specifically my favorite franchise. If they were to go the humorless "dark and gritty" route I would be very disappointed, and to be honest, a fantasy game (or movie, or book for that matter) that takes itself too seriously can be even more laughable in the worst kind of way. Exactly the asme for me the humour is what makes the Bioware games what they aer for me and why I enjoy playing them. Not all games can be dark and serious or even should be. Biowaer d oan excellent job with their games for the most part. Granted they don't always turn out the wa yyou'd expect but for the most part they're pretty good.

Some of the most memorable moments in all the dragon age games, are the funny dialogue between characters, I want that to stay. Hell, my first playthrough, I hardly ever took Aveline and Isabella out at the same time as companions, in DA:2, it was only after reading some of the hilarious (and very catty) dialogue between those two, that I just HAD, to play it again, for that great humour.
I don't want a dragon age that doesn't know how to laugh at itself like that, the humour quality has slumped abit since DA:2 but it's still worth it, in my estimation.

Honestly it depends on what kind of story they're telling. Or what they are allowing us to have, assuming consequences and multiple outcomes
If it's supposed to be an over-the top Avengers-type story, then humor and snark would fit right in. Same if it's a lighter, more optimistic story. Or something that's just plain more comedic.
IF they want to tell a quieter, more personal story with serious subject matter, or a darker and grittier "artistic" story, then no.

Oh I don't know, some of the darkest and grittiest stories if had the pleasure of enjoying have had some very dark humour go hand in hand and improve the experience immensly, the question is, can Bioware pull off that kind of humour, DA:2 came closest, it was certainly coarse at times, not sure it was that dark though.
