So is the consensus to try it with a sale? I've been on the fence about getting it. I purchased The Technomancer for $10 (66% discount) and it took 20-25 hours to complete. Going to replay it eventually. There's nothing groundbreaking, but I find the gameplay enjoyable and the story interesting enough.

I've had it in my wishlist on steam for a while but I have yet to see the price drop from $30

Technomancer was pretty good, in my opinion. I liked the story and the setting. Everything was well thought of and original. Combat wasn't great and I was disappointed that the world was so small. I would've liked to explore Mars more. Had some pretty good characters too but the Boss Fight was kind of odd and not very exciting.

I've been disapointed with that studio. I was never able to complete war logs, as the gameplay just became a chore. I liked the characters, but trying to play a decent human being in that game was just...ugh. Then, when I played as I would normally do (kill 1/3 of the folks that went up against me) I was labeled this bloodthirsty psycopath. I let 2/3 of them live! Intentioally, I might add. I watched TB's review of this game, And Yatzee's review: and it seemed like more of the same. Shame too, because the premise of these games show some real creativity. I like the world they created, the powers they made up, and even the weapons they use. It just seems like the studio doesn't have the talent to turn this into a great game play experience.

heh. sounds fun. How did you get most every faction mad at you?
Abundance is hostile because plot. The Vory were suspicious but somehow my rep with them changed to good even though I didn't help them at all (just intimidated them into leaving Noctis rather than kill them). The free mutants are suspicious, but I haven't been able to do Phobos' quest yet, even though he asked about it. The opposition is hostile/suspicious (don't remember which) because I didn't help them either and killed Bulgakov. Noctis rep is good. Army rep is also good (not sure why - maybe because I didn't reignite hostilities btw. Abundance and Aurora?) but it was suspicious/hostile at the end of Ch. 1. All companion reps are good except for Neisha and Andrew who are at friendly.
Zach is basically a goody-two shoes. He's also torn between being afraid of and crushing on Amelia.
I dunno of you figured this out already, but the reason the Wind Turbine quest gives you good rep with the Vory is because the leader of that scheme was cutting Anton out of the loop. So, essentially, we did Anton's dirty work by shutting down some of his competition.

So is the consensus to try it with a sale? I've been on the fence about getting it. My consensus is that I was above satisfied with my experience and I only paid $14. So yes, buy it on sale. Fair warning. There are kinda three chapters and the first chapter is boring as heck until the final third of it, right before it turns chapter 2. Chapter two was excellent, best part of the game.

I did end up buying it for $9.99 back in the summer. I only played about two hours. This is good to know, thank you. I may give it another go and at least finish Chapter 1 and 2. Did you do a let's play? Though I don't know if I want spoilers at this point...

Sounds like a game that might be worth getting at a Steam sale, but not at full price Pretty much. It's average at best, although it is spiders best game so far by a mile. At least, based on what ive played...Bound By Flame is even more sub-par, no one Remembers Farey: Legend of Avalon, and Mars: War Logs was really boring to me. Here is my own review on it. Take it for what you will. I'm more concerned with Greedfall...the premise is again interesting, but I don't think Spiders is up to snuff in making it work.

Really enjoying the game so far. And naturally, looking at the mixed reviews and wondering what game those people played. The disconnect continues it seems...
I think my only real gripe is travel gets a little tedious. But other thsn that I have been immersed into the setting, loving the combat, and just laughing at the “poor voice acting” nonsense yhat is popular to parrot. Really good game.

But other thsn that I have been immersed into the setting, loving the combat, and just laughing at the “poor voice acting” nonsense yhat is popular to parrot. Really good game. I quite enjoyed the game as well, and had fun even with admittedly weaker BBF. I am also going to play MWL soon, because one of the characters in Technomancer is likeable enough for me to want to discover his fate in MWL and because I like the setting overall. My gripes were with areal overuse as in travelling through the same large area for a tiny dialogue and imbalance of Boss battle difficulty not alleviated by the setting difficulty. I have become a Spiders’ fan after playing these two games. My full review is here: steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198373008989/recommended/338390

ya, I don't get it either. There were two or three instances where it seems like the dialogue said hadn't originally meant to be there. but for the most part, the voice acting was completely acceptable. I mean, I've been told that there are voice actors in it that have done tons of work on Bioware games, it's not like they let all their skills fly out the window because it was a non bioware game.

I tried. Mine sucks by comparison, because I don't want to spoil things for potential players. Phoray's Review Cool! But really don’t see though how you liked it for different reasons, seems you enjoyed the same stuff you did, maybe in a different order.... You loved the art style a lot. I don't get the Bulkagov reference. I wasn't that bothered by repeating mobs until Ch 3. I also feel like an evil Zach is a possibility but I don't know how far it goes. Because I've now listened to all of the possibile ending slides and he expresses regret about siding the Vory. So there may be a disconnect between what a player thinks is their evil Zach and what you get at the end. I mean, my Zach arrested Bulgakov. And I was horrified to find her in that state. So it was nice that Zach auto dialogue matched my horror. But if I'd played an evil Zach, his auto dialogue would have been really off when we saw her. And link wrote that it was a super average game, and I just straight disagree with that. Especially since I liked Andrew way better than Jaal and that sad moment with Niesha and Gloria. "Beg's surprise." And Jeffrey's betrayal. This game got an emotional reaction out of me several times. Average games don't do that.

Because I've now listened to all of the possibile ending slides and he expresses regret about siding the Vory. So there may be a disconnect between what a player thinks is their evil Zach and what you get at the end. Well, that's super minor that you are not getting the Bulgakov reference, and for all I know it is invented by me. Michail Bulgakov is a Russian writer who wrote (among other things) a novel called "Master and Margarita", a complex fantastical tale about Satan setting up his ball in Soviet Moscow, and a writer referred to as Master who wrote a novel about Pontius Pilat and was persecuted by the massive campaign of critique until he was driven to madness by it (anticipating the age of Internet, heh). His girlfriend, Margarita, is chosen to host the ball, and the Satan judges various characters and the Soviet lifestyle/mentality in a whirlwind of events. Given what Abundance is like, and Zachariah himself maybe reminiscent of one of the novel's more likable characters, the poet writing under the pen-name Ivan the Homeless, and how Bulgakov himself was always just borderline permissible in the society... well, lots and lots of parallels.

@carefull Considering I liked Technomancer, do you think Bound by Flames is something I would like? I read your review on it. Depends how much you look forward to playing a tough as nails mercenary dame who swears every three sentences & how much you appreciate a chance to turn into or reject turning into a demon. The companion cast is indifferent, and it’s not worth it for romances. Setting and enemies/monsters is okay. It’s nice and short. Texts are basly edited. Certainly an item to buy on sale and don’t expect another Technomancer. Basically, it’s not terrible? Demon part was my fav thing about it. Honestly, JE is million times better.
