I loved the game. I will choose to save Sloane Kelly every single time. Doubly so now that I've read the Nexus Uprising. I like Addison and I totally get where she's coming from, even while I want to renegade punch her. Liam kinda grew on me. So did Peebee. I loved the whole squad tbh. I HATE Reyes. I enjoyed Liam's loyalty mission. And Peebee's. I liked that I could tell them they did a stupid thing without telling them they are stupid. It's an important distinction to me. I don't want the Benefactor to be the Illusive Man. Oh, and I love the voice acting.

This game might be as good as ME2.
Cora and Peebee are amazing. Suvi is adorable, but I want mooore (that one might not be unpopular).
I love driving on Eladaan and just enjoying the view (I also love DA's Hissing Wastes).
The Kett are better antagonists than the Reapers. Trying to explain the Reapers makes this even more true.
I am growing fond of the soundtrack.
And definitely unpopular:
This is easily game of the year and only Inquisition tops it as game of the generation. One of the few long running franchises that did not dissapoint this year (the other being Resident Evil).

I liked the quest for the Hissing Wastes, as well as the banter. But the map was too big. I will say, however, I liked the Hissing Wastes over Elaaden. That reflective white surface just hurt my eyes.

I loved the hissing wastes for how much it showed just with "emptiness". It might be my favourite map in Inquisition (the coast is in the discussion) because it is the best design and use of lore to let the environment tell the story in pretty much all of entertainment.
Eladaan evoked a lot of that feeling, though the depth of lore in Thedas adds more. But not really a knock. There is no game that can compete with Dragon Age on lore and environmental design integrating that lore to the point you get a story just by taking one step. Hell, few movies or TV series can compete with Thedas.
If we get a sequel, I hope they get to expand to more culturally developed clusters and bring that dewign fully into Mass Effect.

I liked the hissing Wastes (one of 4 maps I managed in Inquisition)but was utterly disappointed in how the main quest chain ended. But that sums up Inquisition for me. I do love Andromeda to bits, however have not done Elaadeen on my first PT. Going to go do another bit of it now, to see if I can come to like it. Learning to love Krogans, etc.

I did enjoy the game but:
I wish they'd scrapped the nomad as it seems to me any map where you get to drive that thing is incredibly empty. I would have preferred to explore on foot if that meant we'd get maps with more (density of) plantlife and animal life, and maybe more than two points of interests that are nothing more than the same remnant structure with a loot box and some robots to kill. I think da:i for all its faults - and even though it did much worse with tying quests to its areas - was much more enticing to explore.
I pretty much dislike a lot of the environments in me:a, because they all feel like Earth. Excepting Havarl and habitat 7 all these areas could have been found right on Earth. I don't even mind snow or desert environments, and I've seen them done wonderfully in games, but these are so empty. Even Kadara, which had a great idea even if it still felt too close to Earth, ended up having a lot of stretches of just rocky nothingness. If they'd kept it smaller and added a lot more lakes and those strange mushroom trees it would already have looked more enticing (like the area just beyond the port). Elaaden, would have been more fun if 1. Eos didn't exist 2. it was the only huge map with long stretches of emptiness 3. Voeld didn't look like it was taking the same concept but in snow form. I LOVED the crashed ship on Elaaden and just wish there'd been a lot more like that on there. Maybe have the main (side)quest there be finding out why a fleet of remnant ships had crashed on Elaaden.
Not sure if this is an unpopular one or not, but I also think the loot in this game is boring as can be. First pt I looted everything and almost never would you find something worthwhile. Or just, you know, interesting. Which sucks because loot is often the only reward you get from fighting the umpteenth identical Kett squad. Or bothering with the points of interest.
I wish they'd cut like half the romances and just made 5 very good ones, tied into the story more, with more content for all options. AND this one is even unpopular to me because before I'd always argued against this, but: they should just have made all the LI available to both Ryders, that way they'd have no excuse to not bother correcting the scenes for bi LIs (Reyes with Scott and Peebee with Sara - though they could still animate a well placed belt to suggest what's happening there I suppose), and they wouldn't be able to basically forget about male options for Scott.
I wish there was an actual chance of failure, as in if you don't do the important stuff there is a worse ending than 'NPC you spoke to twice dies'. And I wish your squad members could leave if they really dislike you.I don't mind them getting rid of renegade/ paragon BUT wish that didn't mean that all the 'asshole' dialogue options also disappeared. The new system of just interrupts is fine, but I wish there were a lot more and that they also had some more asshole options in there. Not even because I'd necessarily take them every time, but right now it felt like you had no choice. SO basically I wanted the game to have some darker elements to offset the jokey tone it has 99% of the time.
I don't mind the idea of a lighthearted ME game, but this was not the story to do that.
I love Peebee, even if I'm so tired of Bioware lazily writing the same character romance again and again (as in promiscuous Bi character who is down for casual sex but can be persuaded to enter a more serious relationship with the PC and learn to trust and love and blah blah blah). I also don't mind her flirting with Jaal even when my Ryder is romancing him.
This whole game feels like it's the sequel to me1 someone always wanted to make but couldn't back in the day.
This game still not having a day/ night and weather cycle feels a bit ridiculous. It was odd in Inquisition, but these areas are so huge it just becomes distracting at times. (Apparently we land on the planets the same exact time of day every time we go there and the weather also remembers what it was like last time we were there. Not to mention that both those things are elements they could have explored to make the planets feel more alien.)
The plot of Nexus Uprising should have been the first part of the game.

I will choose to save Sloane Kelly every single time. Doubly so now that I've read the Nexus Uprising. A little off-topic, but it's been mentioned several times in this thread. Can someone please explain what makes Sloane Kelly so sympathetic? I've only read a summary of Nexus Uprising so I can't give a completely informed opinion, but it seems Sloane's hatred for the Nexus (and Tann especially) comes from blaming them for making a decision (to use the krogan) due to their lack of foresight of other opportunities that revolved around Sloane's situation with Calix. Tann didn't "want a bloodbath" as she claims. He wanted to stop the uprising most efficiently with the least casualties, which is why the krogan were woke in the first place. So Sloane blames Tann for not knowing about her third option, and acting accordingly, when he made his choice? The Nexus also didn't "leave them to die." The mutineers were given the option of going back into cryo or exile. They chose exile. Did Sloane expect imprisonment as an option with their limited resources, or complete immunity for the mutineers jeopardizing everyone's welfare? Sloane appears to suffer from great ego, a bad temper, and letting emotions chronically influence rationality. It appears that to her, there's only one side to the Nexus uprising: her side. This is my impression from my limited knowledge of that prequel story.

Vetra is my least favourite squadmate. No matter matter how hard I try, I just can't warm up to her and find her very bland. It's disappointing and strange since I love just about every other Turian character, including her sister.
I quite liked Addison after getting past the initial meeting.
Peebee surprisingly grew on me quite a bit. I went from despising her to considering romancing her in my second playthrough.
I hate Kadara with a burning passion, along with both Sloane and Reyes.
Elaaden is my favourite planet.
The Angara are one of my favourite alien species (second to Drell and just about tied with Turians).

This is my impression from my limited knowledge of that prequel story. You really need to read the book. It's far more complicated (and interesting) than the impression you've been given. You can't form an opinion based on someone else's summary, so I won't give another one here. Read it and make your your own mind if you're interested.

Here's one that won't make me any friends: I thought saving Raeka was the right call. It was a lot like the Virmire situation, and I don't think it was right for Drack to make it about a whole "Salarians vs Krogan" thing. He got over it fast(er than Jaal at least), but a Pathfinder was more valuable than a handful of scouts. Of course, with meta knowledge it doesn't matter, but in the moment it made sense. And, if he was on the mission (like he was for me), then he should have gone off and saved the scouts. But he didn't, so I got even more annoyed.

I don't see why saving the krogan is even remotely considered a better idea. What on earth could a couple of scouts, even a couple of talented scouts, give me over a skilled leader? I'm already getting that with rescuing the salarian ark (scouts are a thing for that race), and instead, I get a woman whose claim to fame is restoring biological diversity to a ravaged ecosystem.
That's much more useful. Why should I give the krogan a pass?

He even went so far to tell Ryder he was a loner in their first conversation on the Tempest. I read that the scouts can come up in banter, but I never heard it. The scouts seemed to come out of nowhere in the story. It may have been an oversight in writing or development, but the decision didn't have much weight at that point beyond appeasing Drack.

Killing Kalinda makes more sense than sparing her, but at the time, saving her could make sense: She has a shuttle to get you away. The krogan scouts? No point at all other than appeasing the krogan. And we don't need that.

And we don't need that. Opting to save the angara at the kett facility can make sense too, since the angara saved will increase the strength of the resistance, and in turn, the Nexus in their fight against the kett. As for Kalinda? I just saw her as an inconsequential character with a fixation on Peebee, so I didn't have Ryder shoot her *shrug*. I guess the Remnant device would be more valuable, but I'm a little fuzzy on that choice right now. Why did Ryder have to kill her to get it?

But I can still see logical reasoning behind a couple of the choices. Akksul wants to be martyred and by showing him attack an angaran hero rather than killing him outright, you weaken the Roekaar. Killing Kalinda makes more sense than sparing her, but at the time, saving her could make sense: She has a shuttle to get you away. The krogan scouts? No point at all other than appeasing the krogan. And we don't need that. Because Peebee was the only person who could reach it at that point, but she ignored it in order to save Kalinda. If Kalinda was dead, Peebee would be able to get it.

I go into that mission fully planning to not shoot Kalinda, but I get to the partt where she tells her guys that she'll give a bonus to anyone who brings her my 'sweet implant', and I end up shooting her.

You forgot a collaralary: Tann wanted to stop the uprising in the most efficient way with the least casualties that didn't entail compromise on his part. The Nexus crisis was a series of mishaps that, while not exclusively, included Tann repeatedly overstepping the limits of his competence (and into other peoples jobs) because he wanted to assert himself. This wouldn't have mattered if he were better or things had gone better, but they didn't, and Tann was worsening the crisis by failing to heed others and undermining moral. The 'uprising' was a leadership credibility crisis compounded by the fact that Tann didn't want to let go of power. There were a lot of fuck-ups regarding the choice of the Krogan. Making the choice without the input of the head of Nexus security- or her subordinate, who Tann previously sent away without her input- is already reaching. Doing so without a clear understanding of the situation- such as whether she was alive or not- was another. The timing was convenient for Tann since she was out of the way to object, but it there wasn't a imminent need for a crackdown. Or, in other words- the choice to use the Krogan was not only unnecessary but also unjustified on the merits at the moment, and something Tann did behind Sloane's back the first real opportunity he had despite it absolutely being within her responsibility. Why not, when the mutineers wouldn't have jeopardized anyone had Tann not driven them into a fear frenzy? Sloane expected a semi-competent leadership who could be trusted to not get everyone in cryo killed. Tann wasn't that leader, hence why the uprising started and hence why Sloane was making headway into negotiating a compromise that would restore trust in the system by giving more people other than Tann a say. Sloane has the right of it more than Tann. The best that can be said for Tann is that not everything was his fault- but he kept making a bad situation worse and actively undermined Sloane when she was trying to make it better.
