This sucks. I wanted to finish Clem's story. I haven't even played The Last Frontier yet and now I probably won't. Don't want to give money to shareholders or the CEO or whoever it would go to. It sure as hell won't help those poor former employees. Even if they oursourced the last two episodes, I wouldn't buy them. They screwed everyone over and shouldn't get further sales for it that only benefit those who already stuffed their pockets running this company into the ground. Despicable business practice!

I think personally, the second season is the best place to end Clem's story. All the endings just fit and have a bittersweet take to them. That said, you would unfortunately miss out on seeing Clem grow into a surprisingly strong and badass teenage girl, and Season 4 definitely had some ideas that I wish we could have seen expansions on. Oh well, I'm just happy I got to enjoy it while it lasted. And besides, I'd like to continue Clem's story in my head.

I know there's an official Walking Dead thread in the forum, but that's TV show related and hasn't been used for a year. Anyway, I'm trying to work on a Roleplay for the Walking Dead, currently titled The Walking Dead: Pleasant Hills. Basically, the RP focuses on the formation of a community in the Pleasant Hills suburbs several miles south of Chicago. Players will take on roles of denizens of the community as they work together to gather resources for survival and protect the community from the many dangers of the zombie apocalypse, be it the dead or the living.
I'm still working the details on how actually playing the roleplay works, but I've come up with positions for five moderators/GM's. If anybody is interested in filling those roles, you should probably let me know, preferably through this board's direct messaging system. I'll fill you in on more details about what your jobs would be, how the RP will play, and what types of stories we could tell through the RP. Besides, I would definitely like some other people to bounce ideas with and make sure I come up with the best system I can possibly make.
EDIT: I made a mistake. I meant that have positions for FOUR additional moderators/GM's.

I waited four years for them to announce TWAU S2, they finally announced it last year... and now my hopes have been dashed as they neared the finish line. Does anyone have a soundproof room I can borrow, so I may safely hurl expletives for the next half-hour?

I find myself realizing only after the fact that I would have liked Game of Thrones Season 2...
Don't worry. The pain goes away in time, as it did with Andromeda DLCs.

TWAU was one of the most fun "Renegade" experiences I've had in a game, hard to top ripping off someone's arm and tearing up a strip club and beating up its owner.

I think Telltale games are quite personal, everyone has a particular one that appeals to them the most. It's hard to find the best as we're all drawn to different worlds and protagonists.
The fact that at least 4 franchises and their fans are now left wanting is disgraceful. Especially with Clem's story being so near the finish line.

Also with EA, they pay and treat their developers well. In a couple of decades of EA existence and controversy, rarely did you had developers talk anything bad about EA anonymously and I never heard of public bad mouthing. And even then those criticism were about the poor vision of game development, not of poor pay, unpaid while pressured to do overtime nor any toxic environment. Simply because EA knows driving away good talent is truly bad for business, which is where Telltale screwed up hard and it was too late to correct it. The most negative things I have seen towards EA or BioWare would have been that interview from Manveer Heir after what seems to be his contract wasn't renewed. He came across trying to confirm everyone's most negative thoughts about EA while trying to get people to be interested in his future crowd funded venture (which still hasn't happened). At the same time to me burned all the bridges he could with any future employment with a major publisher for I don't think they would want the risk of him doing something like that to them. I do think EA knows the value of talent, for as much as people want to make a big deal of when established people leave BioWare it seems the majority of time especially the ones that have been there a really long time are leaving the industry.

I lot of people's biggest criticism towards Telltale is how they're games are pretty much the exact same game. Now, I don't think just having a repetitive formula is enough to lead to a company failure, at least, if handled correctly.
Take Traveler's Tales, the guys behind the Lego Games. Technically, because they're partnered with the actual Lego company, the games don't necessary need to worry about getting new IP's because the Lego company themselves get the IP's for them. All TT games has to do is make the games. But they don't just make the same Lego game over and over again. Sure, they have the same core features like their puzzle oriented levels, their lighthearted humor, and the emphasis on collectibles. But from what I've seen, every game at least tries to add a unique spin to the formula based on the IP they're working with. Harry Potter placed a large emphasis on spells for different functions, Star Wars The Force Awakens included a new cover shooting system for certain sections, and the Marvel and DC games generally have large open worlds with hidden puzzles to unlock.
If Telltale were to continue as an indie developer, I think rather than trying to get a bunch of IP's to make games out of, they should have immediately sought out an official partnership with a big name publisher so that they don't have to seek out and pay for the IP's. Maybe they could have just become the exclusive holder for Walking Dead games with Skybound Entertainment and work exclusively on Walking Dead titles, or they could have gone with Warner Bros since apparently the best games out of them like Wolf Among Us and Batman are DC/Warner Bros properties.
As for the game variation, I thought Telltale was on the right track with their approach to open ended conclusions and the emphasis on character relationships. They just shouldn't have spent all their money on acquiring IP's.
I'm not an expert on the business operations of an indie game developer, so I have no idea if this would have worked.

Having recently concluded playing Episode 2 "Suffer The Children", I feel confident enough to make a prediction of what the storyline for the last two episodes will be. Episode 3, will be about finding the Raider community and mounting a rescue to save the kidnapped kids, which in typical Walking Dead fashion goes horribly wrong. Episode 4 will be about the survivors trying to pick up the pieces while Clementine has to save AJ from Lily. I think there might be a more open-ended conclusion, where Clem can decide whether to stay at Ericson with AJ, leave AJ at Ericson and leave, or leave Ericson with AJ.
I'm thinking of writing an interactive un-official conclusion to the Final Season on Twine. Basically, it will hopefully take a player's previous choices into account and allow players to "play" through the rest of the two episodes in a similar manner to Telltale's choice system. I could have this be a community driven project, with a plan to release each episode on their original release dates. Having co-writers to handle different choices and scenes would make the process easier, and I could use some artists to provide some illustrations to go along with the writing (provide something visually appealing to go with it). If you're interested, let me know.

I wasn't aware of that interview, however, Manveer Heir is a very controversial person that frequently commits to inflammatory language on social media, as well very much prone to causing conflict. That fact that EA simply let his contract expire is a show of some restraint, because they had grounds to just outright fire him for causing PR issues.

Some leaked footage on Telltale's canceled Stranger Things product. This is most likely an unfinished/rough rendering of what the game would have looked like. Not entirely sure about the art style, but some of the stuff they are showing, like this new more expansive conversation line and what looked like a first person gameplay segment, seem kind of cool and it kind of makes me wish the Telltale situation didn't happen and they could continue with this, maybe polish it up.

Skybound Games will work with members of the original Telltale team to finish the story, though nothing has yet been finalized, a spokesperson told Variety. Skybound never used in-house developers on its games before. It will definitely be an interesting challenge, but from what I've read before, Episodes 3 and 4 were actually nearly done before the closure. Episode 3 was going to be submitted for ratings review and a couple more weeks of polish, while Episode 4 had most of the voice recording done and I think a playable model was finished.

The Super Bunnyhop video is pretty good, though he kind of starts repeating himself towards the end. The moral of the story is, just because one expensive licensed IP becomes a blockbuster success, doesn't mean that every expensive licensed IP will become a blockbuster success -- particularly if you cookie-cutter one game after the next, with an aging engine and tool chain. You don't make a certainty of catching lightning in a bottle twice by making a bunch more bottles -- and hiring a bunch more people to make the bottles.
