nunziodefilippis Thanks for agreeing to answer questions about Vaea. To start with a fun one, since she is working with the Inquisition now what would she think and how would she get along with the main cast in Dragon Age: Inquisition if they met? Hmmm.... Varric and Dorian she's actually met, so I'll let their interactions speak for themselves. The rest: IRON BULL - I think she'd like him well enough. She'd likely be wary of the Qun, but would find him a welcome counterpoint and he'd open her eyes a bit. VIVIENNE - Too full of herself, without any real sense of fun. Not Vaea's speed. SERA - I think she'd start by being confused and annoyed by Sera, then start to think "hey maybe I like this person" then ultimately decide that her first impression was correct. COLE - I think she'd also find him confusing at first, but she would become pretty protective of him, whether he needed the protection or not. BLACKWALL - I think they'd get along. He doesn't have the same amount of panache as Ser Aaron, so I think he might come up short for her because of that - like she's always comparing him to Ser Aaron and unconsciously judging him for not telling stories or being as much "fun." Still, she'd like him because he also harbors some pain and tries to bury it in different ways, and I think she'd respond to that. CULLEN - A bit too uptight for her. She'd respect him, but not know how to talk to him. JOSEPHINE - I think she and Josephine would get along exceptionally well. I'd imagine them becoming friends, despite very different backgrounds. LELIANA - She'd admire the hell out of the Nightengale, but maybe be a tiny bit afraid too. CASSANDRA - A bit like her reaction to Cullen, but I suspect she'd warm up more to Cassandra once she discovered Cassandra's softer side - her interest in Varric's books, for example. But these are just off the top of my head, and if Christina and I had to write her interacting with these people, it might end up very different.

Yeah, we could, but it'd have to work with what Bioware wants for the existing characters. We pitched killing a much bigger (than Ahriman), but still mostly defunct, character, and they ultimately passed. Not because they didn't want that character dead but because they didn't want the thematic implications of the character's actions and fate. They're very collaborative at Bioware - they have a hand in the plotting while also giving us a lot of room to play with their concepts and characters. It's been a great working relationship. It's really cool how closely you and Bioware work for creating the comics. Out of curiosity, who was the character you pitched killing that they passed? Or can you not say? Not sure if I can say, so I probably will play it safe and leave it unsaid. But this was a companion-level character who's been left unused and unmentioned since. We had them do a bad thing, then see the error of their ways and then die. And Bioware's concern wasn't with the death, but with the larger implications of the 'doing bad' part. Plus, the overall story took the franchise a little backwards instead of forwards, so they wanted us to go another direction with it.

They're very collaborative at Bioware - they have a hand in the plotting while also giving us a lot of room to play with their concepts and characters. It's been a great working relationship. With excellent results! You and Christina have done a great job of creating stories and characters that feel perfectly part of the Dragon Age universe without just going over old ground. Vaea and Ser Aaron are especially dear to my heart, and I'm crossing my fingers that BioWare use them in some capacity in the next game when it comes around. If the two of you want to keep writing these comics (always assuming BioWare and Dark Horse want to keep making them) I'll be delighted to keep buying them.
Also: completely off-topic, but while you're here I just wanted to say that I really love Skinwalker. (And a bunch of your other previous work, but especially that.)
Glad you've been enjoying the characters. And wow... a Skinwalker fan. That's exciting... not many people remember that book.

Not to worry - Bioware wouldn't let us kill Dorian. Not sure what his fate is beyond our story, though... Good to know but that isn´t really surprising. But can you theoretical kill minor characters for example Magister Ahriman? A character who was only mentioned once in Dragon Age 2. Magister Ahriman was or is the master of Fenris sister Variania and the most important thing he is a Ventus citizen.
Yeah, we could, but it'd have to work with what Bioware wants for the existing characters. Let me reassure everyone that this is exactly correct. Dorian would never abandon the city. He simply can't help Ser Aaron and his team, because he has to defend the city. On a broader level, glad to see that most here are enjoying the comic. Thanks! Thanks you for the response, though now I’m concerned that this is Dorian’s last stand, since the fall of the city seems inevitable. Not to worry - Bioware wouldn't let us kill Dorian. Not sure what his fate is beyond our story, though...

I think that he is forgoing his involvement in the break in, which might have been necessary considering they are breaking into the house of a reclusive and likely very powerful Mage to help defend the city. If the Qunari take the city too fast then the others won't have time to finish. He would lose too much clout if he was to abandon the city without a fight. As he is one of the highest ranking Magisters present he is obligated to defend his country, not perform a favour for the Inquisition, who are his friends, but he needs to help save his people from an enemy that is obsessed with destroying his nation. Let me reassure everyone that this is exactly correct. Dorian would never abandon the city. He simply can't help Ser Aaron and his team, because he has to defend the city.
