Hello! I'm kinda-sorta new. I used to post sporadically on the official BSN, under the name "ftkerns," though everyday-life stuff during the past year or more left me with no time to pop back in. Trying to juggle too many other projects, I guess. I'm a writer with two small successes under my belt (a novel published last November, plus a short story published back in March) and a quarter-century of rejection letters before them. I've written five novels and am working on a sixth and have yet another in the planning stage. Plus some fanfiction and some other projects. And a blog I use mostly to discuss writing-related topics, the latest post being a fairly exhaustive rant on Mass Effect 3 and the two newest trailers for Mass Effect: Andromeda. Mass Effect became one of those things that stuck in my head and wouldn't let go. Started working on a fanfic, Freelancers, five years ago, and I'm still at it, posting a new chapter every month or two. (I tend to write a chapter of one book or story, then a chapter of another, and so on, and just cycle through them all). It's probably going to be at least 500,000 words before it's finished, but I'm not stopping until it reaches its conclusion. And the ending won't be in RGB. I'm also a semi-competent gamer (on a good day) and pretty much a total geek. Favorites include the first two Mass Effect games (the third ... not so much), Grand Theft Auto Online (though I tend to stick to solo sessions because I don't like getting gunned down every five seconds), the last two Saints Row games, and the Borderlands series. I've got a few videos on my YouTube channel focusing on writing, specifically my books and a couple of series on Mass Effect 2 (as an example of good writing) and Mass Effect 3 (as an example of things to avoid while writing a story). Non-gaming series I'm a huge fan of include Star Trek, Star Wars, and Babylon 5 (B5 being my absolute fave). I'm also not the best at brevity. Since the above covers the basics, I'll leave it at that and refrain from bloviating for several more pages ....
