This isn't just about personal tastes. It's about a trend. They never ever change the formula. In four games, there isn't a single gay human in the squads, a single one that fights, there's only a bi Kaidan and not a single lesbian. Okay, we understand with Cassandra, Cora and Ashley that military girls aren't always gay. Can we now get a beautiful one that is? Leliana was always a bit crazy, then there's Sera, the bratty, now the metallic bird, two asari. How about a normal woman? It's always the same tastes that never are fulfilled. Suvi, Traynor, and Chambers? Josephine. I agree that they arent as good as squadies. But honestly I understand people being upset about not getting Cora but it looks like Sara gets 2 squadies and a crewmate. I think we are pretty lucky even if they arent to taste plus planet side flings. I don't think F/F has ever had 3 choices in a game. Only 2 squadies once before with Merrill and Isabella. So lets try to put that in perspective. I'm talking about squadmates. Suvi, traynor and Chambers don't fight.

Wanting more options and not liking your options are not the same as there being massive distaste amongst BioWare fans for gated romances. I don't want more options. I want a variation from game to game. In one I get what I want, in the other I don't. Change of the stereotype that Bioware created for themselves. Make the squadmate human bi or gay for once.

For you, maybe. For people like me, no. I wanted at least once have a really decent guy to romance with - Liam. Fail, not interested anymore. I wanted to know right from the beginning if I'm gonna like Peebee or not. She's a huge unknown and the more they reveal to us, the more I find her like Sera from DA:I - great squadmate, not interesting as an LI. So I end up rooting for Cora aaaand fail once again since I'm forced to play as Scott to romance her. I don't like being forced to play as a guy. When I have a choice, I'd rather play as a girl. I'm not into Turians so this one is out for sure. Not interested in Jaal at all as well. And I won't be fully satisfied with Suvi since she's not a squadmate. So looks like we need to agree to disagree those are all personal tastes. Perhaps I should clarify, there's no massive resistance and outrage over their lockec characters and most of their romances are quite popular This isn't just about personal tastes. It's about a trend. They never ever change the formula. In four games, there isn't a single gay human in the squads, a single one that fights, there's only a bi Kaidan and not a single lesbian. oh damn, lots of stuff dropped while i was asleep! can anyone give me an overview of what the romance confirmations are atm? Straight Scott has an harem in the squad with all 3 girls. They could put Suvi to him to. Human gays can't fight. Sara also got turian. And everyone's expecting Jaal.

If I hadn't gotten the game for cheap, I would have done the same. I'm so tired at this point. The worst part is they were being secretive as if to make us think this time it would be any different. The reality is it is impossible for them to please everyone when it comes to relationships in this game so there was always going to be some backlash. It isn't possible to please everyone all the time, but it'd possible to please everyone from time to time, making things different in each game. The first companions/humans are always straight, and the lesbian ones are always the most strange ones. Morrigan, Cassandra, Ashley, Miranda are all straight. It'd hurt to make Cora bi just for one single game?

My first big disappointment with MEA. When they said they were adding a way to share faces, I assumed that the CC was going to have loads of options... Instead, it looks more stripped down than even the original trilogy. At least you could change the nose, mouth, eye shapes, as well as eyebrows in ME1. It's kind of baffling that they don't let us modify the default twins, since the options you are given are literally just stretching/shrinking the existing face geometry. Also, the hair texture looks really bad. It looks like paint. I'm sure I'll be able to make an attractive male Ryder... But it will just look like everyone elses, so I may just use the default. That was exactly my train of thought. I was looking forward to Origin Access because I though I'd really spend 10 hours in the CC and I'd prepare my Ryders right away and wait for the official release. Now, or I 'll use default or touch the cc for just some minutes. I took two major disappointments today. This one and romances. But the latter is for another topic.

I love making Alistair have a baby with Morrigan and keep him a warden just to see their reunion at Skyhold, and then I kill him without remorse because Hawke is the best.
Made a female elf inquisitor and romanced Sera just to hate on Solas as a couple and punch the bastard.
My favorite part of playing as mage inquisitor is to tranquilize Livius. His despair is delicious.
I think that both male and female default faces of Hawke are some of the coolest in any game, and I actually feel that something is horribly wrong when I watch a "Let's play" and people customize them.

I never was any good with sniper rifles and I hate how slow shotguns are. Just give me a nice assault rifle like the Harrier to spam bullets, pistol and a melee weapon to go frenzy.

I hear ya. I don't think I want to know ALL romance options, though, just the ones in the squad and crew. The rest can be a pleasant surprise. That said, it's no biggie if I don't find out before launch. I'll just play it cool until I find someone who really trips my trigger. Or until I get spoiled. =) I'm awful. I find one that I absolutely love and can't ever seem to romance anyone else. Now, if I don't find that One, I'll romance anybody and everyone. So I'm hoping I don't find anyone too special right away. In the interest of exploration and all that. I know the feeling. When I try other LIs, it's like I'm cheating, and I feel l horrible that in that playthrough I'm only friends with my favorite LI.

Does a RPG is defined by customising our teammate ? I mean Ryder has more customisation than ever... Squadmate are mostly meatbag in mass effect, they have only useful ability. In every run I did, i never saw a squadmate making a kill. They probably did some I miss, and help me making some. But in a fight I never saw a opponent i was not focusing dropping. In that regard does micromanaging our squadmate improve the gaming experience in anyway ? In DA squadmate are useful, and you choose their specialization, appropriate gear is logic. In mass effect they are neither useful Really? You need to play ME3 on Insanity using Garrus. Some brutes disintegrate before I ever do some proper demage. In the Citadel DLC, the first time that I tried the last fight, I couldn't finish without changing the difficulty, but the second time, Garrus made the bitch use her medi-gels in one minute. He wouldn't do that with a sniper rifle or a slow assault rifle.

I, for one, like having all the freedom without any commitment or definition at the start of a game. Let me create all sort of crazy mixtures of skills, give me free re-specs and so on.
Having 12 skills and a multitude of combinations is great. I'll change favorites as often as I can.

My character will be the Jack-Of-All-Trades, using Soldier, Adept, Enginer and the Explorer profiles one time, then chaging the three pure profiles to the mixed ones other times: infiltrator, vanguard and sentinel

I'm wondering, is anyone pretty underwhelmed with the romance choices on offer? Yes. It's about time they give the female human squadmate to the female protagonist. As I don't think that non-squadmate will turn out to be good LIs and I refuse with all my heart to romance turians, I feel that the asari is my only option again. But Ian said that Suvi is one of his favorite characters, so I'll give a try with her in my second playthrough if she's indeed an option. Let's see if I'll eat my words about the npc romance thing.

No to me. The fact that I can take the LIs with me and running in the open field is a big factor to me, as opposed of some static npcs that are only waiting for me. Make up stories while fighting, the companions acknowledging the relationship and talking about it in their banters are important details. Things like Merril saying to Isabela that Hawke acts awkward around her, or Sera joking about Cassandra's panties, or if you dump one for the other.
Also, in DA games, there's the approval system that enlarges the gap even more. The companions have their own opinions and you have to have some sort of chemistry between your character and his/her LI.

i'm guessing sloane (and hoping really hard actually, she seems like a great character) and kandros! they've emphasised how there are more romances/flings than ever, so maybe some of the people we'll wake up will be potential flings as well. I want Sloane so bad for my FemRyder. I won't be totally crushed if she's not, though, especially due to the leaks' info benefiting us if they're true. She's not the kind of character they'd make romanceable and, if she was, I fear they'd make her hetero, anyways. They seem to love the "she's a total tomboy soldier who takes no shit but only men can open her heart" kind of thing. Haha At this point, I'm already hoping for a hot babe in DA4 for my female protagonist and already knowing that I'll be disappointed again.

hasn't...every single ME game had NG+? After learning(and being shocked by) the fact that the devs aren't aware that a lot of players, me included, think that squadmates are superior LIs, I think that every question has its own merits, however obvious the answers might be.

Hmm, now I'm wondering if ME:A will have a NG+ feature. That would be cool and a way to try several romances while keeping a character look/spec how I like it. Yes, it has. I even asked Ian about changing the looks of the siblings in a NG+ because I want to max all skills, but at the same playing a "different" character with different choices.

Peebee love interest confirmed to Scott So much for secrecy guys!! Much secret! Talk her up and see for yourself! No spoilers ohh no nooo! As expected, Peebee confirmed to Male Ryder. I wouldn't mind if she or Vetra was straight, just so Cora could be bi... Straight Asari makes no sense, she cannot NOT be into her own species which looks like women Doesn't make sense. But if Bioware have opted for this approach given how she doesn't like common things, I wouldn't bat an eyelash.

Like the OP, I played all DA and ME games knowing more or less all the major choices that I'd do in order to obtain the ending that I'd like more. But starting with MEA, I wanna go mostly blind, having all the awe and surprises of the consequences. Just being familiar with the mechanics through gameplaye trailers. Though, like most people, I really want a short, plain list of who can romance who. I'm afraid of how much spoiler about the characters I'll read before spotting a single information.
So, this guide would be a great waste of money to me, specially considering the exchange rates.
And a serious RP shouldn't get frustrated by going blind. The whole purpose is to create and develop a character, not to control the world.

I feel like it'll all make sense and click into place once we actually have our hands on the game (or at the very least see a video of the menus in action) but right now the MP Mission and Strike Team system feels like some sort of collossal behemoth of mechanics upon mechanics that don't exactly seem very intuitive :/ That's exactly how I feel. I'll be like a cockroach when I start playing.

Years before maybe. But right now, a lot of his "critiques" just feel very nitpicky and self serving. I dunno... I mean, for instance: From what we saw up until now, we will have to deal will MW races more often then not in that game that's supposed to be about the exploration of a new galaxy. Why? Because fans like them? There are just so many things wrong with recent BW games, it's easy to criticize without being "nitpicky". Using the term "exploration" is misleading. It's not just 10 or 20 ships discovering lands and coming back to the MW with resources. The whole purpose is "colonization" in a new bigger scale, and adjust the necessities of the MW races to this new galaxy. And really, having two sapient races native of a single cluster is already too much There isn't ANYTHING there to criticize. You just have delusional desires.
