The fans aren't at fault and neither is EA; Bioware Montreal is. Once they decided to waste 3 years on turning Mass Effect into something it's not (a procedurally generated open world, ala No Man's Sky) they shot themselves and fans in the foot. They then spent the last 2 years (give or take) scrambling to put something together and hope brand recognition would carry it.

Hey fam, decided to have my other account *spectreshadow* exalted, no real reason. Anyway I'm at a don't feel like playing anything for a while mood so I'll be here on and off. Laterz. Good having you back, but I also will be taking a break from these forums. The only thing that kept me playing this mediocrity was Vetra. I shall return every now and then, or when our femtur gets some well deserved DLC.

@pasquale "Canon? What canon would that be? Care to point out all these holes in the main story you've so deftly identified? You do realize this is not a continuation of MET, but a reboot of sorts, right?" Have you NOT been reading any of this thread or many others pointing out the MANY plot holes in this story? Ok I will mention a few just for you, for rest you are on your own. 1) In MET whenever dealing with Krogans, front and center was the Genophage. Bioware decides they will have a "slight cure' thus not having to deal with it being around or the problems that a complete cure would cause. Ok I am cool with that but how do they explain this 'slight cure' They say that the Krogan were naturally adapting to it and they just helped it along while on the trip. The Krogan were in stasis, stasis suspends ALL body activity down to the cellular level, there is NO way genetic adaption, natural or otherwise can take place. 2) AI in MET was the DEVIL, all the races feared and outlawed AI, a race could be banned from Citadel space just for researching it, which was actually brought up in MEA. Yet NO one in MEA has any problem with not only having AI but one being embedded in the main characters head. 3) Hyperion arrived 14 months after the Nexus. Some time after the Nexus arrives there is an uprising that is put down. All the people involved were exiled, considering the lack of resources how so many were removed and where they were moved is left to your imagination, ok cool more space magic. The problem is that these Exiles not only made it to one planet they are spread all over the cluster, have not only created all kinds of settlements but entire towns, set up multiple factions, created complete economic and political systems. ALL in less then 14 months. 4) How Bioatics operate, and what it is capable of in MEA is so drastically different then MET its laughable. Of course these and the MANY other holes that I won't waste any more time on, are waved off and explained away by Bioware, their Shills and fanboys. May be a good story that makes actual sense, that sticks to canon, isn't important to you, but it sure is to me and many others. MET was ALL about story and character interaction. MEA has NONE of that and in fact trashes much of what MET laid down. In ME 2, Mordin already explains that the Korgan is adapting to the Genophage and birthrate is increasing, just like what happened in ME:A. It has nothing to do with them spending 600 years in sleep. They are adapting before even leaving the galaxy. I thought he said they WERE adapting; which is why Mordin and STG modified a new strain of the genophage which would limit reproduction to a viable level for the krogan to survive. Unless I'm forgetting something and they adapted AGAIN.

Man, I remember putting a heck of a lot more time in Origins than 25-30 hours. There was a surprising amount of shit to do. Of course, a lot of time also got padded on by the fact that to leave an area you sometimes had to backtrack ALL the way the hell back to the starting point of the map. Well that was my personal play time on like my 10th playthrough, so I had the game down to a T at that point. It was also on normal, Nightmare would obviously take longer. That's also just the base game, no DLC or the Awakening expansion. Adding those and your pushing 60+.

Bioware. A name synonymous with excellent characters, great storytelling and creating some of the best games of all time. However with the last two releases in their library with Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda, I feel Bioware is ignoring their core audience and trying to cater to a new one.
The biggest piece of evidence to this, is their new focus on creating open world games. For Inquisition a developer stated that Skyrim was a big influence, and for Andromeda, Witcher 3 was that influence. Considering these are arguably Bioware's two worst games to date, that should be telling. Dialogue, meaningful choices, and interesting outcomes were sacrificed for the sake of "bigger is better." The problem with bigger open world games is you run the risk of being bland and boring most of the time. Bioware has always excelled at a more linear approach to their RPG's.
Take Bioware's previous games for example. KoToR and Dragon Age: Origins were around 25-30 hours of gametime, The Mass Effect Trilogy, each game sitting at around 40 hours of gametime, and most of that was focused on characters and story. This is the Bioware I fell in love with. Inqusition and Andromeda? You're looking at around 100 hours, and 70% of that is exploring empty open worlds with boring side quests and lifeless characters filling them.
With Inquisition and Andromeda, I shudder to think of playing through them again; there's too much trekking towards menial tasks with little payback, and hardly any meaningful or rewarding choices to be made. I don't play Bioware games for 100 hours of bland MMO-esque chores in big zones, but rather for engaging conversations with unique characters and a plethora of meaningful decisions that impact my experience on each play through.
While I did enjoy Mass Effect: Andromeda more than Dragon Age: Inquisition, I still hope that someday Bioware will go back to making games with a more linear RPG gameplay style then what they've done as of late.
But I'm afraid that Bioware will continually chase towards this "Bigger" path and thus ruin what made them great to begin with.

Exactamundo. When I first played DAI and learned Warriors and Rogues bare the last name Trevelyan, I always name them Alec now. Aw, I thought you named him Alec because he has the same hair as Papa (Alec) Ryder in MEA. You could go with that too, but I made him long before we had any footage of Andromeda.

"I have nothing to tell you." "How 'bout goodbye" I can't not do it, even in most paragon of playthroughs I'm glad someone else appreciates it lol. "You're working too hard" *Stabs Batarian Mechanic in the back* Or my personal favorite, punching Admiral Han'Gerrel and telling him to get the hell off your ship.

I think it was a mistake getting rid of Paragon/Renegade. That was the one time in Bioware games where you KINDA knew what you were gonna say. They were pretty much there but disguised. Blowing up the kett facility, shooting the contagion, shooting Peebee's ex girly... I feel like I was pretty close to renegade but I told myself I was doing it for the greater good and just didn't have a big flashing red button telling me I was an a-hole. Some of the trigger responses were a gamble but they always were. I'm still not sure if it is better to hug her or not in the end. I liked both versions but I guess the hug was better... Interrupts were there. Paragon and Renegade dialogue choices were not.

The dialogue choices need to be better as well. Every-time I read a choice and select it, Ryder says almost the exact opposite of that response. Fallout 4 also had this problem, but mods fixed that. It seems to be a consistent issue in Bioware games. I've had this issue in DA2, DA:I, the ME trilogy, etc. I think it was a mistake getting rid of Paragon/Renegade. That was the one time in Bioware games where you KINDA knew what you were gonna say.

I just think replaying the Trilogy right before playing Andromeda made me expect the PC to idk, be more confident? I get why Ryder is so unsure of themselves, being young and thrust into a leadership role with no qualities suited for it. Maybe if we play as Ryder in the sequel and they've adapted to the role of leader I'll like him/her better. My interpretation - which could be wrong but- is that, unlike Shepard, Ryder is young and less experienced. He didn't have as many opportunities as Shepard to prove himself because of what happened with his Dad. Another factor is that, in most backgrounds for Shepard, there's either an element of tragedy or ruthlessness, so there's reason for him to be harder in personality. Meanwhile, Ryder definitely has some tragedy in his background, but it's not to the extreme level that Shepard can experience even before the trilogy. As time goes along, Scott Ryder is growing into his role as the hero. Maybe he won't be exactly like Shepard, since he's not Shepard, but I think we should get more experiences that harden him as time goes along, if he play as Ryder again. (Same goes for Sara, btw) The dialogue choices need to be better as well. Every-time I read a choice and select it, Ryder says almost the exact opposite of that response. Fallout 4 also had this problem, but mods fixed that.

I mean if you choose mostly left side sure but right? I don't really know what you mean. I think he's just buying too much into weird redpill beta-alpha myths. Either he's just trying to rile someone up or he's genuinely projecting some weird shit onto his self-insert video game protagonist. I just think replaying the Trilogy right before playing Andromeda made me expect the PC to idk, be more confident? I think their styles of anger were a bit different. MaleShep's anger was more gruff(?), while MaleRyder's anger was more passive aggressive and snarky. It would have been cool to be able to choose what kind of anger your character has, though, since some prefer one style over the other. I hate passive aggressiveness with the fury of a trillion suns so yea thats why Scott annoys me so much. To be honest, Vetra is too much of a woman for Scott. Sara players, does she come off as more confident than Scott? I mean I get that they're both young but I feel like she would be the more mature sibling. Or is the inflection pretty much identical to Scott?

I didn't really get a sense of angry Scott compared to angry MaleShep so that is what I base it on. I will admit nice MaleShep didn't really do it for me, nice Scott is much better. I didn't play much FemShep so I can't comment. I think their styles of anger were a bit different. MaleShep's anger was more gruff(?), while MaleRyder's anger was more beta. It would have been cool to be able to choose what kind of anger your character has, though, since some prefer one style over the other. I fixed that for ya.

I understand the whole pathfinder thing but I still wish you could have gone full invader with your interactions with the Angara just to shake things up. One of my biggest complaints with this game, is that no new alien you meet is considered "First Contact" for them. Because we arrived 1 year later, all the interesting shit already happened.

I'm fine with that since Scott+Vetra is better ingame. You can tell that Tom was into her too, really brought out his A game but that's what turian romance does to you. The vanilla FemShep goodbye (not the EC ship escape) gets me every time! Hale's best performance + that "never"... *totallynotcrying* Hale was so much better... That was really obvious. I actually like the VA for Scott a lot but I think Sara's has her own charm and it helps round out the character with a bit of the goofball persona. I keep hearing people say they prefer Shepard's persona but I think playing a professional Ryder can make a great female protagonist. I haven't done a Scott playthrough yet so I can't say. Hale 1>2>3 Meer 3>2>1 Every way I try to portray Scott just doesn't measure up to Shepard. Scott is just such a beta. I haven't tried Sara yet so maybe she sounds better delivering the beta lines than Scott does.

Damn, this Cora pt is harder than I thought (no paenus jokes pls ). It really hurts that I 'can't' pick the flirt options with Vetra. I have to stay on course, a love triangle would be even more painful. That's what youtube is for. I shall never not romance Vetra.... I will however continue my harem with her and my side ladies.

I would like at least a LITTLE more BroRyder/Vetra fanart, but I am glad Vetra is getting the love she deserves. I'm fine with that since Scott+Vetra is better ingame. I can just imagine her checking out Dr. Lexi, and Peebee poking fun at her for it. Duh, everybody loves asari. I love MILF Asari (Samara) only. All others are not worth my time.

Is Drack the only squad member who makes a comment about Ryder's and Vetras relationship? Because I know Drack pretty much warns you not to break Vetras heart xD ( I also found it funny how Drack then re directed the warning to Vetra xD ) I think Cora says that you are a cute couple. Yep... I don't know what fool would ever cheat on Vetra and piss Drack off. I hope that mediocre asari reporter was worth it cause now you are going to die. My harem is quite in tact thank you very much.

Cora just brings out teh gay in the girls, can't blame em, Cora is fine. Even Peebs checks her out in the Nomad, eyes up here. I can not understand the thing with Cora whenever she starts to talk In her loyalty mission I want to strangle her or when she finishes talking I'm finishing her sentence with "Did you know I was an Asari huntress" "Remember Sarissa's manuals." *Blows brains out*

Vetra is definitely the underdog, glad she has so much love in the fanbase. Bioware has ruined me. A legion of lesbian fanartists all showing their love. Vetra is definitely very lucky! I would like at least a LITTLE more BroRyder/Vetra fanart, but I am glad Vetra is getting the love she deserves.

Text Wall Incoming. 8. Two logs coming together would not destroy a modern tank much less a futuristic walker.OK back to Vetra talk. I keep derailing this thread every day, haha. Not that implausible actually Haven't hung around for a while, have I...I have been so disappointed in not being able to play MEA I started up Skyrim (I'm totally not pretending to be Ciri there ) Why are you fighting about Star Wars in Vetra thread? Not that I should talk with completely off topic posts You have no idea how happy I am you're back. Now you can be the one who derails threads again. I have been holding the line as long as I could, changing topics whenever I was able. But now you have returned, and I am in need of a much deserved break.
