The Alec death always threw me off because as soon as the main character touches ground, he uses some kind of tool to repair the glass on his face shield. I never understood why the same couldn't be done by Alec later.

It sounds like you had a pretty baseline experience honestly just where some people go "what no renegade options?0/10" your response is actually measured. You hit the nail on the head. People were way too critical of ME:A for whatever their reasons were. Things that have been overlooked, or noted as small flaws in other games, were for some reason viewed as deal breakers in ME:A. My best guess is it was a mix of bandwagoning, Bioware/Manveer hate, and/or borderline unrealistic expectations. Side note: I notice your Jon Snow avatar. GoT is finally back tonight . Can't wait!

But still, he was suspended a dozen times in two years. That's a huge amount of suspensions. That's a suspension every two months for two years straight. Dreamers and explorers are one thing, but this is someone who couldn't even follow basic rules. It's important to remember that throughout history, actual pathfinders in any given field have broken and stretched rules to achieve noble goals. From a game standpoint, Alec himself was kicked out of N7 for not following the rules.

SJW is just a phrase (acronym) ignorant people use whenever they see a non-submissive minority group or woman in a game, movie, etc.
ME:A has minorities, women, transgenders, homosexuals, and actual aliens...ignorant people can't handle this and start screaming SJW.

Thanks for the positive/optimistic post starman. I enjoyed my multiple playthroughs as well. The only reason I haven't played through more times is because of the profile system. I have everything unlocked already, so playing through with different playstyles is a thing of the past because my one character can do it all. As much as I enjoyed ME:A, I really hope they return to the class system in the next installment so each playthrough feels unique.

I agree they may have gone a little too far with the balance pass. I like the weapon balancing...AR's and SMG's are actually useful now. But they shouldn't have weakened enemies on Insanity.

The irony is that you seem to go thread to thread with negative comments. Negative? Me thinks only fanboys can see something like a response that says: "I think that this review is fairly rational" as "negative"... Don't act coy. Your reputation precedes you. I've seen you post enough snarky, passive aggressive comments to have an idea where you're coming from when you say " I think that this review is fairly rational". You can act innocent if you like but you're not fooling anyone who's familiar with your comment history.

...Plus the silly haircut and how he doesn't make any damn sense most of the time. I don't know how the artists got him so wrong in-game. In real life he's a good looking guy: As far as his personality...yeah it sucks that they made him so bland and goofy. The only other black character in the series was Jacob and he was just bland, minus the goofy. I wish they'd write in a decent black character for once. We're already hated and stereotyped just for being black...now Bioware gives actual reasons to hate black characters.

You're largely missing my point though. As a white male, you have TONS of representation in various forms of media...games, movies, television shows, etc. So chances are, the few shows or games with a black or female protagonist means nothing to you. But for the little black kid, or little girl who's grown up seeing nothing but white male superheros, it's an awesome feeling to see a superhero who looks like you once in a while. Like I said in my post: this will most likely be difficult for you to understand (not meant as an insult) because you haven't spent a lifetime watching movies and playing games where no one looks like you. Not trying to come off combative or anything, just trying to get you to consider a different perspective. Have people ever complained about Bollywood not being inclusive because their films feature mainly Indian actor's? Thought not. First world counties which produce content like pc games have majority white populations, and the customer base for content like pc games is mostly male. That is why white males are disproportionately cast as the lead characters. It's like complaining that asari tv features too many female Asari ... Yet another defensive person totally missing the point...

It's easy to feel this way when you're essentially a white male. Sure, if you go into detail you're irish...but you're still basically a white male. White males have been protagonists in probably 99%+ games, movies, television shows, books, etc. It's nice when a developer switches things up and makes a female or non-white male protagonist. Being represented is awesome and contributes a lot to self value, especially in younger minds. It's something you may not fully understand since most protagonists have always looked like you, but for a female or a black guy...it's nice to see positive and powerful images of people who look similar to you. Makes you feel like you can do it too. I do agree with you that the game, movie, etc. itself should be good first-and-foremost, but inclusivity and/or diversity are not a bad thing. ...I've never said inclusivity or diversity is a bad thing, but I feel people make too big a deal out of it. When I watch Luther, I don't think "Oh, well, I can't enjoy this because the lead character is a black man.", and I didn't think that I could not play Jade Empire because the characters are based chinese culture and appearances. I don't identify with people on screen because of their colour, or their gender, their sexuality or anything like that. It's the quality of their character, their attributes, their writing and how they're acted. I'm not american, but that hasn't stopped me liking countless films, tv shows and games that feature characters from that country. Games should focus on the story, the characters, and people should stop complaining all the time about not being represented. Not every gender/sexuality/race can be represented in a medium such as this... You're largely missing my point though. As a white male, you have TONS of representation in various forms of media...games, movies, television shows, etc. So chances are, the few shows or games with a black or female protagonist means nothing to you. Well, if we could agree that there's nothing wrong with playing a white male protagonist killing, say, black female gangsters (damn, can you say "political shitstorm"? I can imagine the mountains of salt), no one (sane) would have a problem with this game either. The problem is hypocrisy and double standards.
I don't think anyone would mind as long as it fits the story. Sloane Kelly is essentially a black female gangster. There was no "political shitstorm" over her death.

Inclusivity or diversity =/= a great game Do you know how often I see irish protagonists in games? I can't name a single time there was one. Doesn't mean that a game is bad, and I don't feel misrepresented by it. Games are games, not political statements... It's easy to feel this way when you're essentially a white male. Sure, if you go into detail you're irish...but you're still basically a white male. It's one thing to point out a game's flaws in hopes that the developers will fix them. Bethesda games are notorious for this. However, it's an entirely different issue when everyone and their mother is on some kind of crusade to make it seem like ME:A is the worst thing ever to happen to gaming. Constructive criticisms are fine, but the volumes of hate ME:A received were unwarranted. Like I've said before: it's not a perfect game...but it's definitely not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. What classifies as "unwarranted hate"? I literally described what I meant in the sentences before and after the sentence where I mentioned "unwarranted hate". In the first paragraph I said " it's an entirely different issue when everyone and their mother is on some kind of crusade to make it seem like ME:A is the worst thing ever to happen to gaming"; in second paragraph I said " it's not a perfect game...but it's definitely not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination". Reviewers making ME:A out to be some kind of gaming abomination...is unwarranted. Was it a game that could use a few updates and fixes? Sure. Was it a bad game? Not at all. It became popular to hate on Bioware (I suspect one of Bioware's former employees sparked the internet's Bioware hate), and tons of people jumped on the bandwagon to point out every flaw, ignoring any positives.

Yes, it's the internet fault. All those thousands upon thousands of players who BOUGHT the game and reported game breaking bugs, horrible performance, missing party banter and the list goes on and on. All of us are part of a dark conspiracy targetted at Mass Effect Andromeda to make it look bad and fail. Yeah... /sarcasm How come the internet didn't hurt other games? Why didn't people shit on the new Zelda or Horizon Zero Dawn? Damn this evil internet must have something against Bioware... It's one thing to point out a game's flaws in hopes that the developers will fix them. Bethesda games are notorious for this. However, it's an entirely different issue when everyone and their mother is on some kind of crusade to make it seem like ME:A is the worst thing ever to happen to gaming. I've enjoyed my three playthroughs. Seems like the internet was hell-bent on making it seem like ME:A was the worse game ever, and many reviewers jumped on the bandwagon. I'm not saying it's perfect in every way...but it's far from a bad game.
Hopefully with time, more people will give it a try instead of listening to the hive-mind bandwagoners who echo popular opinions.

The player doesn't have to complete everything for each playthrough. Change it up. Do a playthrough by only completing the main story. Do a speedrun. Change the order of completing side missions. Instead of using a shotgun for a playthrough, use a pistol. Or do a melee only playthrough. You beat me to it. I was also going to point out the fact that much of the open world stuff is optional. The only thing that hurts replayability for me, is the profile system. I enjoyed doing different playthroughs with different classes in the trilogy. Sure...I can do that now by sticking with one profile, but it takes self-control (an area I'm lacking), and it's just not the same when I know my one character can do it all. It takes away from each playthrough's "personality" for me. My character now has access to all the same skills each playthrough. In the trilogy, each playthrough felt different and unique because of class individuality.

Yeah...seems impossible to have a decent conversation about the game without a troll chiming in with some nonsense to get attention. I'm actually surprised no one has posted some edgy meme/gif yet. Yes, a decent conversation. I enjoyed the conversation where the OP talked about kicking people in the balls that 'hated' the game. Sounded like an inmate looking for his asylum but a bunch of you liked his post. So for you, a decent conversation is one where everyone agrees and those who don't should be insulted, or if someone can make it happen, maimed or murdered. Let's hear it for decency and good conversation! And in fairness, the thread title is about regrets. It's not really trolling to say you regret buying or playing the game. I regret I bought the 69.99 version. The extra content wasn't worth it for me. If you had the qualifier 'In Game Decisions you regret, I would concede your point. Uhh...looks like you're replying to the wrong thread. The OP didn't say anything about kicking anyone in the balls...
