Wrex, Garrus, and Javik are all tempting. Especially Javik. But... Poor guy wouldn't live very long though.

I try to take from all categories. What makes sense, what is my favorite, romances (or lack of), class combat and lore, and voice acting when applicable.
I usually try to take an advantage of what I see as unique about a setting, and when I create a Bioware character I like to build off what's already there. For DAO, I loved the dynamic of the female City Elf origin over the male, so I made a vengeful female City Elf berserker, which turned out like Buffy with the temperament of Wolverine. She'd be my canon, if not for Morrigan's romance arc with the male Warden. When I saw the "it's your first command" aspect of Dwarf Noble, I built a character who was more militaristic and severe in appearance, and opting for no romance. It helped that I saw him as a mirror of Loghain at some parts.
But for DAI - Dwarves are my favorite race in Dragon Age and I was disappointed to be locked into human in DA2. DAI let me try Qunari, but the armor restrictions and seeing the classic DAO dwarf armor back sealed my choice. I played him as someone who jumped at the chance to escape the Carta, seeing the Anchor as an opportunity for a better life. I thought he fit fine with the story for the most part, getting plenty of references and being able to dictate to Josephine what exactly he did for the Carta. I liked that he got to clarify his beliefs about the Stone, if he had ever been to Orzammar or not. I liked that he was at a disadvantage at the Winter Palace, with Orlesians thinking that the idea of a Dwarf Herald was ridiculous.
He didn't feel ridiculous to me until it came down to Inquisition Dialogue perks. Underworld made sense, given his background. But once he picked up later ones, like the nobility, history, and arcane? He became kind of a renaissance dwarf, that must have spent every offscreen moment in the Skyhold library or reading in a tent. Maybe it wouldn't be as ridiculous on a human noble, but I doubt it. But those perks are all optional, of course.
It usually takes me multiple playthroughs to develop something towards a personal canon. DA is a bit easier in that regard, as the Wardens and Inquisitors are all separate people that always existed at some point, unlike the binary state of Hawke. Don't ask me to pick a canon Shepard in ME though.

I think indrexu meant how protective/fatherly gets about Vetra and Ryder if they become involved with each other, threatening both not to hurt the other. Or when Drack talks about how he probably would have messed Vetra and Sid up if he raised them (with better aim though.) Drack doesn't really have a romantic dynamic with anyone but Lexi, but that always felt mostly one-sided to me on Lexi's part. He's just too much of the team grandpa for everyone.
I don't really ship npc/squadmate characters with others in most circumstances, especially not ones that are player romances. It's a good way to figure out which are your favorite romance(s) though. Besides, Kesh already has Vorn.

I like replaying RPGs, if I can change enough and make the playthrough feel different than the previous ones. I try to change everything I can when I replay. I try to pick a different name, sex, appearance, class, romance, party/squad members, character alignment/outlook, origin/background, even different armor customization combos. It's part of why customization level is one of my highest priorities when looking at RPGs.
For modern Bioware I've played:
ME1 6 times. ME2 5 times. ME3 4 times. MEA 2 times.
DAO 6 times. DA2 2 times. DAI 1 time.
Open world doesn't inspire me to replay it usually. I've only played Skyrim once, and I don't see that changing. I think the only reason I bothered with MEA's was because NG+ came with so many perks, switching twins/recustomizing but keeping the research data/items. I might do another in the future, but despite being polar opposites in many respects, my two Ryders inexplicably didn't feel that dissimilar. I'll definitely be replaying MET some more in the future, some Shepards and incomplete and there's more I miss about each game than I miss about MEA.

Yeah, it's a weakness so far.
Architects were fun the first time, but once you kill Voeld's you know you can kill them all easily.
Shadow Broker's boss fights were great.
Citadel's boss fight and the Mirror Match in Armax Arena were probably peak for me. Very frustrating and very fun.

- Jetpack/Biotic Jump Mobility - Brings a whole new level of fun to combat, especially on Vanguard.
- Vetra - My favorite Mass Effect romance, definitely the character I'll miss the most.
- Drack - Krogan squadmates have always been around the top of my favorites.
- Nomad Banter - Probably one of the best parts of MEA.
- RGB color wheels for customization - Improving visual customization is always good.
- Overall texture quality - MEA's textures look amazing in almost every area of the game.
- Player running animations - Shepard's didn't seem that bad until I saw Ryder's.

[...] I don't find Bethany particularly more likable than Carver. [...] This isn't unpopular. So many people found Carver more fun, and found Bethany boring. I like her, but still, prefer this annoying bastard. Templar Carver the is best. He's pretty good with a sarcastic jerk Hawke, who teasing him and laughs at him. To be fair, I've never played Mage Hawke. I always got the impression Bethany was more popular than Carver, but I don't really care for either of them. Maybe I'll have to try a Mage with Templar Carver some day.

I want to see Reaver back closer to its DA2 incarnation, one of my favorite RPG class implementations next to Mass Effect's Vanguard. I hated Dragon Rage for its animation and button mashing nature. When I play a damage inclined warrior class, I want to use my weapon, not sheathe it in favor of magical claws.

I don't mind the Fade in DAO much.
I actually love the Deep Roads.
I dislike how much elf lore focus there is.
I like aggressive Hawke just as much as sarcastic Hawke (sometimes more.)
I don't really like Merrill, especially as a romance.
I don't find Bethany particularly more likable than Carver.
I prefer leaving Hawke in the Fade - under the rationale that I let that decision be guided by what Hawke would do. It's not the Inquisitor's decision in my mind.
I prefer conscripting the mages in DAI.
Dwarf is my favorite Inquisitor, because I love that a dwarf is stopping the sky trying to kill people. Oghren was right.
I loathe Vivienne as a person, but she's one of my favorite characters in the franchise.
I hate Arcane Warrior/Knight Enchanter and they've always bored me to death.

When I first played insanity, vastly overestimating the Nomad's shields, skipping past a kett camp on Eos and exploding well before I'm out of range.
Still hoping to roadkill a lone enemy only to be disappointed at how non-lethal it is.

Charging at Ascendant's sphere on first encounter. That was uncomfortable. Architect's leg happened to me too. Just didn't expect he had such deadly conditions down there. Somehow I killed my first one without discovering that. Second one shocked me with it. My biggest one was probably blocking ME3 sync kills from my mind and charging the Fiend in Site 2 for a sobering reminder. Way too many times falling into ferrofluid without looking, once while fighting an Eiroch near the Kadara vault entrance.

You have to let Annihilation prime enemies first before you Charge, or it won't combo. So no charging from far away and hoping for an instant explosion. It still won't trigger explosions. At least not for me. I've walked right up to enemies with annihilation field on, waited until they were primed then charged and no boom. OT: I run Singularity, charge, Nova. I go with no cooldown evo on Nova because I'm old school novaguard. Singularity to prime, charge in to explode, Nova to cleanup, charge again. Dhan is my main weapon. Not 100% sure, but I suspect Charge suppresses Annihilation on use, leading to no combo detonation.

There's a third option I mentioned in the badly needed features thread, letting us collect AVP rewards at forward stations. It would fit well with what they're for, but I'm not sure they have the real estate to fit them on the model. The most feasible method probably is letting the rewards accumulate multiple deliveries during playtime.

I'm not sure I want another Warden companion, maybe if we can really have one that is all that different than what we've had so far. I would like to know what happened to all the Amaranthine Wardens though... So far we've only had a rookie, a turncoat and a pretender. I'd like a real veteran Warden as our companion, someone like Genevieve or Duncan (preferably a female though, since all previous Warden companions have been human males). Maybe not in the next game but somewhere along the line. Very true. After thinking about it some more, I'd actually like to see one of the more ruthless or pragmatic ones as a party member. One that embodies more the reality of their role than the ideals of it. But definitely female.

No - I was fine with it as a nod to Shepard.
But then I always liked that Shepard was a terrible dancer. I liked that for all their prowess on the battlefield, they were awful at some everyday things. It helps round out ridiculously competent characters like that.
Even if I wasn't fine with it, dancing is pretty low priority on things I'd like to see changed.

I ended NG+ Insanity @ 106.
The 90s-100s is when health scaling starts getting out of control. Your gear never can improve past the level 80/81 versions, but mob health keeps increasing every level. Probably damage too, but I've never tested/noticed it much if it did. Even with a bio-converter Isharay build Architects took forever in those levels.

Pirahna (works well with Turbocharge especially), pair it with Isharay or Black Widow and you're set. Weight eventually becomes trivial anyway.

Just wait until you hit level 70, it takes bout 4 bursts to the head with a 452 damage N7 Valkyrie to kill a raider. AH. Do enemies scale with your level? Yes, and their health keeps scaling after your gear stops scaling at 80.

Yep, I mean, the line we're crossing here would be akin to making Shepard melee Harbinger to death singlehandedly with his omni-blade or something equally big that's stupid for the sake of being epic. Science babble is akin to space magic. Magic will always be as big as the story is tempted to take. Which is why some writters make magic users so scant on their fantasy genres as it can get ridiculous quickly. The difference is that space magic goes out of its way to remove your willing suspension of disbelief. Science babble makes you give it the benefit of doubt and then it won't ruin the scene. There's that difference between seeing something and going "THAT'S STUPID!" right away and then seeing something and, upon reflection, saying "Huh, that didn't really add up." The Crucible never fired. Shepard just used Nova in front of the Catalyst to kill all the Reapers.

ME1 will always be my favorite for the visual of going through a Mass Relay for the first time, it still impresses me to this day. The tutorial was serviceable without feeling suffocating.
I'll always hate ME2's for how long it takes to get to character creation, but it's decent. I do like that you get to the Galaxy Map fairly quick vs the rest of the series.
ME3's is probably the worst because most of the dialogue just makes me roll my eyes, plus the sudden Vega.
I liked most of MEA's opening except for when you realize some of the Pathfinder team never met each other before leaving for Andromeda. Wtf? Plus being stuck with Predator/Avenger on high level NG+ is a special kind of hell.

I should be enjoying the Cora romance, and I really do, but I just had the Vetra mountain climbing. Even on the friendship path she/that scene is perfect! Thankfully the flirt options have finally disappeared. It was difficult to resist. Every time I was talking to her I was like Sums up my Scott playthrough pretty well.
