This should have the same weight as Lavellan losing his/her clan. How much weight did they give that? I lost my entire family and yet not one word was said about it at the War Table. It is why I think dealing with such issues as a War Table mission is wrong. If they wanted to give us a meaningful personal mission, it should have been done as an actual side-quest. This applies to both Lavellan and Adaar. I can't remember what the outcome was for the other two races but even if their outcome was fairly bland, the comment is still the same. To make matters worse for me, I had just learned about my clan when Josephine's personal quest triggered that had her moaning about how hard her brothers had to work in the face of adversity, which left me thinking "So what, I just lost my entire family! Don't you care?" What I also found annoying about the War Table is that there was no consistency. With some missions it made absolutely no difference which advisor you chose and the outcome/rewards were always the same, even if the description might vary. With others it was really important you got it right. Now I avoided using Dalish hunters to sneak into the city in the Lavellan quest because I was convinced that would backfire on us, so opted for one of the alternatives instead, either of which resulted in the death of clan Lavellan. I never understood the logic behind that. The full weight of a passing mention from Sera and Cullen in Trespasser, I suppose. I guess I'm mostly upset at the choice of words in the operation text, as if the death of Adaar's companions was a joking matter. Did you have Lavellan act more impatient, sensitive or prone to anger immediately after learning of the clan's death? That would be one way of making it a little more real within the game. Yeah, it isn't a particularly objective reasoning, as you could easily make a good case for why it is better to use scouts or diplomacy. I take it you prefer not to cheat by looking up the wiki?

During the war table missions, there is a point where two mercenaries from the Valo-Kas company are killed by humans who believed that Adaar is a Qunari agent posing as Andraste's chosen.
This should have the same weight as Lavellan losing his/her clan. They were Adaar's friends! Instead, what we get is Shokrakar jokingly saying that "We're running out of Ashaads".
What makes it worse is that it indirectly is the Inquisitor's fault. That must hurt.
And any trust s/he might have built with humans while working with the Inquisition probably suffered a blow after this.
A reminder that the world will always be a hostile place to the (Tal) Vashoth, no matter what you do.

After all, he completely opposed the Grey Wardens' plan to destroy the Old Gods preventively. We don't know exactly why be objected to their action but his anxiety over preventing it could have something to do with what happens when all the Old Gods are dead. He makes this point to Blackwall and he hasn't been the only one to ask this question. If the Old Gods are what is keeping the darkspawn underground, then if all the Old Gods are killed, it could result in an endless Blight on the surface. Another theory that has been put forward is that the Old Gods were part of his trap and each time one is freed, it weakens the wards holding back the Evanuris. Solas didn't want them released until he was ready to deal with them. Also, if the Old Gods are related to the Evanuris, I had a theory that perhaps killing the dragon releases the soul to return to its counterpart wherever they are located, making them stronger as a result, rather than simply destroying it as the Grey Wardens believe. This would fit with Flemeth wanting to capture the essence and absorb it, so she has the power instead. The only problem with this is that the outcome for the Old Gods has not been consistent, particularly when it comes to our decision in DAO, so this would introduce a variant that has to be accounted for in the narrative going forward. Nevertheless, there is some possibility of a split soul of the Evanuris being involved with the Old God dragons and if the last two were to arise without being corrupted this could be interesting. At this point, it may be more of a question of "what kind" of connection there is between the Evanuris and the Old Gods, rather than "if". Isn't it odd that Flemeth was able to take the Urthemiel's soul into herself with such ease. There must be a certain compatibility. And back in DAO, she made it a priority to get her hands on it. Unlike Morrigan, I don't think she would seek the OG soul out of greed or romantic views on old magic. On a side note, does anyone think the villain at the end was Elgar'nan?

Are the 'risen gods' the Evanuris. If so does that make the voice at the end Elgar'nan. If so 'peace and comfort' sign my MC up. Happy to deliver solas on a platter too. I can take the grey warden's pious grandstanding but seriously rolling my eyes(& concerned about MC and any nuanced morality) if crows are claiming to be 'ruling for everyone'
That's what I've been thinking too. If the howl at the end is meant to be Solas standing against the villain in the teaser, then it doesn't make sense to think it is an Old God. After all, he completely opposed the Grey Wardens' plan to destroy the Old Gods preventively.

Honestly if there is anything of substance in these trailers then Bioware will have failed at making trailers. At least in terms of character and story. Trailers are supposed to tease and cause speculation. Not give the game away. The thing is, it leaves us speculating about whether the game even exists. Static images and voiceover aren't very reassuring.

Sorry but we are going to Antiva and it’s only fair to assume that we met her in Antiva. Also unlike Zevran who could be writen out (some adventures somewhere else) Josephine is no quantum character and works for all possible world states. Yeah Bioware will bring her back. Ou joy. Cannot wait to see how they absolutely bastardize my favorite video game character. Huh. I've always thought of Josephine as a neutral character no one feels strongly about. What do you like about her?

IMHO (and most reviewers), Witcher 3, Skyrim and BG3 easily surpass DAI and MEA. I also strongly prefer DAO over DAI. to each their own and I can recognize a few things. Witcher 3 was a revolutionary and technical marvel...but was also a terrible RPG with a few other things holding it back. Skyrim is probably the most boring game I've ever played and never quite finished it. Still dumped 200 hours into it. BG 3 technical marvel, gaming throwback, really like some of the things that Larian is doing from a consumer perspective...but aside from the gameplay issues I also get the feeling it's doing some of those *other* things that bugged me in the witcher. DAO had its moments but was a real slog to get through. Can turn into a werewolf and "boring" don't go together.

Hey, old goods = elven gods Heresy!
As Dorian said as a crazy Inquisitor in Greedfall while choking you to death - "RENOUNCE YOUR GODS!!!"
Listen to the only truth - mine! And don't ask for proof, heathens! Take it all on faith. It's in the name after all! The Elven gods are locked away somewhere tight, be it Black City or an Eluvian type dimension. The "Old God" Dragons are the seals that keep them locked.
I like the idea of an Old God Dragon retaining some regular consciousness and running around with an own agenda. Solas can't afford to kill it, but has to somehow deal with it.
What if Old Gods could switch between dragon form and humanoid form, just like... No, no, no. You ain't getting your crazy ideas into my head!

full reveal summer 2024, release date 2034 with possible delay to 2044 All jokes aside, I's guessing that voice at the end is going to be for Elgar'nan & BW are going to double-down on on the Elven gods were evil, Solas was right route. Just a thought in my head, we'll see what's revealed in summer. No, the last voice is definitely an old god. It is mixed with a dragon's growl.

1. I'm just hoping that the presence of all these places doesn't boil down to just "This is the Rivain hub." "This is the Anderfels hub."
2. The Grey Warden part makes me think we may get a Warden companion again, since he talks about how they shouldn't hide.
3. This teaser for the teaser has a strange lack of Solas. I'm hoping he won't be sidelined somehow.
4. This is yet another teaser that makes it look like they're too afraid to tell us there is no game and they could only afford to pay the voice actors and illustrators.

If they are struggling this much to finish Dreadwolf, I wouldn't count on this franchise making it to the 5th game.
I'm gonna play this one as if it was the last.

Just a random thought, but if Lavellan got captured by Tevinter slavers she probably would be in a worse situation than most.
They might consider her unfit for labor due to the missing arm, so it would be straight to the sacrifice ritual table.

Yesterday I showed my wife that my Inquisitor is romancing the Iron Bull and she went "Ew, he is ugly".
And that got me thinking... if you zoom into his face, he is decent looking. But his proportions make him look grotesque, on top of the oversized horns and gray skin.
The Arishok was easier on the eye.

It is possible to engage in sex without pregnancy occurring. (I can't believe I actually had to type that out, but here we are. ) Note also that there is a canonical method of birth control in Thedas: Witherstalk. Interesting. Here I thought we'd only have theories to go on.

Two questions about your female Lavellan:
1. Assuming it's been 10 years since Trespasser, is she still pinning over Solas?
2. After all this time, would she get into a relationship with someone else?

I'm currently doing a Qunari playthrough.
Honestly, I find it unrealistic that everyone is so completely okay with having a Qunari mercenary as leader. Or that they're so unphased by her presence. Elves, dwarves, sure. They see those all the time. But Qunari, even if Tal-Vashoth, are more... alien.

I know this isn´t a topic for PC players The hell it isn't, I haven't been able to get a physical copy of a pc game in years and I'm pissed off about it. Owning a digital copy isn't owning, it's renting, they can take it away from me at any time, i want a physical copy that i can install from without needing any online storefront that will inevitably cease to exist or drop the game to save the company money. I get them valueing digital copies, they get more money without needing to make physical discs and ship them, but Jesus they could atleast have physical discs within the collectors editions, which are already filled with physical goods they're shipping out anyway. Digital is all very well when I'm trying out other games but for my favourites i want a physical copy dammit. [br And let us not forget: Consoles/PC don't have infinite memory, hence why it is essential to have the option to delete and re-install games whenever you feel like it.

gervaise21 If you're interested, I've found this incredible article that goes quite in depth into the parallels between the DA elves and indigenous peoples. It goes beyond the superficial "both live in the forest and have lost their land". That you, that was most interesting. I also agree with the author in her conclusions, including: In the tweet from David Gaider included in the Forward, he claimed to regret making real life analogies to the world of Dragon Age. I sincerely disbelieve this. He has never had a problem accepting accolades for his real life analogies before. The only thing Gaider — and Weekes — appear to regret is when people expect accountability for their writing and world-building decisions. But what exactly is praise for things are done well worth, without accountability when things could use improvement? My problem with some of the decisions and comments with regard to the Dalish in DAI is how little respect they seem to show for the culture they developed in the previous two games, particularly considering how close the analogy was to the real world minority cultures they had previously claimed to base them on. It wasn't that other characters made those criticisms but that Lavellan was so seldom given the opportunity to defend their people. This was particularly noticeable in JoH where everyone, including Ameridan, seemed to dump on the Dalish. I think the author of that piece was only referencing the main game in DAI, as I don't recall any mention of JoH or Trespasser, although DLC were mentioned from previous games. However, all the specific incidents that the author picked up on were ones I have previously commented about on the boards, particularly the War Table mission concerning the weeping halla. I wonder if she knew about what happens if you are in a relationship with Sera after the Temple of Mythal and how she viewed that. Mind you, I never understood how Lavellan would get into a relationship with Sera in the first place given her antagonism towards anything "elfy", unless she hated her own culture. Anyway, once again, thank you for posting this. It reminds me of how the writers for The Big Bang Theory and The Office refused to acknowledge the obvious Autism in Sheldon and Dwight, respectively. That most likely was the avoid the fans' scrutiny regarding the execution of how these characters were portrayed. And yes, the Dalish culture deserves respect, because as the article's author pointed out, legends and tales ingrained into a society don't have to be "right" or "wrong". What matters is what they mean to their people.

Is there actually something in the game for the other backgrounds that says a Mage Adaar couldn't exist? That's more what I'm looking for. Not something that'd be an unlikely pick or that doesn't feel credible, but something that you're literally told was definitely not the case. So like, for a Qunari mage, something like an after action report on the Conference that said something like, "the Divine wanted to appear biased, so she didn't accept any mages among the guards for the conference", which would mean that as the background was given, a Qunari Mage couldn't have been there to save her. Honestly, I think it's unlikely this exists because I figure that, being aware of what happened with this being the case for Dwarf Nobles in DAO, Bioware probably made a real effort to avoid repeating that mistake. But I'm curious if they slipped. No, it is just the most unfitting combination for the Inquisitor and Herald of Andraste. It is silly to talk about an impossible option. There is no such thing. If that's what you want, find a mod that allows you to play as a mage dwarf. Or, roleplay your way into a desirable narrative.
