Interesting, my approach is exactly the opposite - Reyes lies through his teeth and seems an opportunist: the way he handled Sloane's assassination means he can't be trusted. I don't buy his romantic involvement at all, it seems to me a very typical, if not blatantly manipulative way of gaining Ryder's trust. Sloane is basically "what you see is what you get." I'll that instead Reyes' shifty attitude each and every time. That was more or less why I choose Reyes - the unknown - over her. I didn't believe she wouldn't sabotage the colony's efforts out of spite even if she'd given permission to it and I didn't believe she wouldn't be adding hoops before and after it had been established. While the Collective is ruthless like Sloane but merely in a different way, the Collective seemed more pragmatic and business-like which made me more inclined to believe they'd see the benefits of establishing a good relationship with the Initiative because of things like trade and not be inclined to compromise that partnership because of spite or other past history. In short, the known was not acceptable and so the unknown was preferable. Note: I don't meta-game so I don't take into account how Sloane acts if she survives the encounter with Reyes. I also do not take into account events or perceptions from books for the same reason. Not meta-gaming either, I'd rather pick "better the devil you know" option. Reyes seems just way too unpredictable when compared to Sloane.

Reyes is the cannon choice. If you save Sloane, she will die between installments and Reyes will come into power anyway. That is why Sloane is killable but you can only wound Reyes I like Sloane as a character in a story, but there is no way my Ryder(s) can cooperate with a person like that. Reyes is pragmatic and understands the true value of cooperation and long standing arrangements. Sloane by contrast wants her cut in the here and now, and cannot be swayed by the inherent value of friendship and stability. This is also why my Ryders engage with Reyes romantically, to strengthen the bond and make it harder for him to betray the initiative in the future. Sloane is basically "what you see is what you get." Inquisition did to well for me to be worried. It also has the more experienced studio, is riding off inquisitions momentum of various GoTY awards, best selling bioware title on console, etc etc. i still can't believe mass effect is shelved due to poor reception and doing bad (I actually can "believe" it) until there's concrete info. Kotaku is the only source on that and everything is referencing that one and only source, I need more sources to take it seriously. I'd wager they're simply moving Montreal around to speed up production in the other games and then they'll be moved back once they want to start another ME game. I don't see how ME being shelved would hurt DA. As I said, both have their own studios for it, DA getting the more experienced one that has momentum going for them from the previous game doing very well. DA also has the FB3 pretty much nailed down = less time working on it and more on the actual game itself, plus the inquisition delivered a good story if you ask me and the tresspasser really setup the next game perfectly (and I think the next DA game should break the trend of not reusing a protagonist, my inquisitor must come back). Nicely put. If anything, ME's temporary shelving allows for the DA team to receive more resources, more people to work with, etc. since Bioware's focus in the foreseeable future will be on DA and Dylan only. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if MA tried to win back its audience by releasing a topnotch DLC, a game changer such as Lair of the Shadowbroker and Trespasser.

Isabela has a preference. Tough titty if the male player gets hurt. Solas dumps a female Lavellan and threatens to murder the whole world. Pretty sure that made a lot of players pretty sad :lmfao: Wrong. I have something against that preference coming with a disadvantage in terms of experience. Leliana has a preference for women and I think it was done quite well. As for your comparison, change it to "Solas won't listen because Lavellan isn't a true elf" and then we have something similar. And in my opinion, tragedy actually improves the romance arc. The said disadvantage, as you put it, is a subjective matter, since other people have pointed out that they find both options satisfying and don't feel deprived of experience. I find these differences quite interesting because they allow for slightly different playthroughs. But, like your sense of deprivation, my experience of actual enrichment in terms of replayability is entirely subjective.

Or they may surprise us in a Fallout 4 style and announce DA4 release date six months earlier sometime in 2018.
Unlikely, I know, but not impossible.

No, I simply don't agree. None of the side quests were good - only close to the bare minimum I can deal with in very small quantities, were stuff like architect and the turian would-be murderer. DA:I had the same problem. This just does it a teeeeeny bit better. Old ME series had quest with impact all the time - a part of the story somehow, or felt like it. Very little of this filler hell, that only acts as a time sink. I've stopped playing the campaign multiple times, because I'm a completionist and the filler hell makes the game feel dead and boring. What I don't get, is how it's so effing hard to make like a few epic quest lines on each planet, that can/should tie in/impact to the main story. Sprinkle a little one time events here and there, and you got a "live world". And the writing of some of the NPCs are laughable, without going in depth; Morda, Sloane Kelly, Addison, etc etc, who has sooo much teen wanna-be-tough attitude and vast incompetence, it's laughable. Why not give us the ability to beat them into submission, take over - because the gods knows I wanna put a bullet in Sloane Kelly myself. They came to Andromeda to start a future TOGETHER, I would love the option to go all "fuck off - join us or get left to die". Lastly, what's with this "no matter what you decide, you can't lose" philosophy - if you make the worst possible decisions and go through the least amount of content possible, it should be possible to lose.Besides the NPC/overtly bad plot writing hiccups that makes me facepalm, the main quest and companion quests were actually up to snuff imo, voice acting good too. Sadly, that's only 15-20% of the game - time wise. This game doesn't have you excited and engaged in the other 80-85%, and leaves you running around in a pretty, but dead, universe - that's about as exciting as levelling in vanilla WoW. Exactly. I regret the fact that our decisions have no real impact on our relationship with the crew (apart from "don't talk to me now" angst) - in DAI, for example, some of the companions simply leave if they disagree with your decisions, views, etc, which adds significant weight to the dynamic between the characters. The decisions we make in MAE have little to no impact on the plot whatsoever and are, imo, to a large extent insignificant.

Aria, definitely Aria (she was a squad member, sort of), just to see her confront Sloane Kelly and Addison. Only if she kicks Sloane Kelly off her throne and goes "Pfft, amateur." I'd take Aria running Kadara over either of the options the game gives you. Agree completely. Sloane is an Aria wannabe (despite fantastic Indira Varma as VA) and Reyes Vidal comes across as a pathological liar and manipulator.

Actually, I'm a fan of the original MET and I was looking forward to MEA, but when I saw the abysmal CC, the collection of bugs, glitches, and whatnot, plus my severe disappointment with the Scott-only launch trailer, I decided to wait until the game gets properly patched. I refuse to pay an AAA price for what seems to be an unfinished product. And this is perhaps the most important thing I'd really like DA team to keep in mind: that it's unacceptable ("the gall!" as Cory would put it) to release a game in such a sorry state and expect the loyal fanbase to pay for it. But sadly this is normal nowadays with games, isn't it? I read about quiet a lot of possible gamebreaking bugs, when DAI was released too. So I waited until they did take care of most bugs and buyed it after. I will do the same with Andromeda or DA4 or any otehr game, because releasing a game with a lot of problems and bugs has become so common. And I do acknowledge, that games nowadys are a lot more complexe in terms of textures, graphics and more, but as you wrote before, I rather wait a bit longer and have a decent, mostly bugfree game, than a game that gives one headaches at the beginning. You're absolutely right, it's become something of a regular thing to release half-baked games and expect us, the customers, to pay for them and wait for the patches which may (or may not) fix the issues that shouldn't even be there in the first place. And like you, I get the whole "the game's big and complex, so bugs are inevitable" argument, but then perhaps the publisher should gauge the price accordingly. I'm not cackling with satisfaction over MAE's being hanged, drawn and quartered by some critics, but I just can't understand how ME team could think they would get away with all that mess.

After reading here about SAM, I'd say he reminds me a bit of DAI's requisition officer, whose unwavering annoying helpfulness (which could, though, be avoided by running away screaming every time you'd meet her in a camp) resulted in a homage video:

I can't say I'm happy about the whole Andromeda-gate conundrum because Bioware is one of my favourite developers and if MAE becomes a flop, it might drag DA4 into the abyss with it. I'm not concerned about the actual release of DA4 (of that I've no doubt), but rather about the estimated financial support EA would be willing to give to my beloved franchise.
Still, DAI did bring profit and was spared the extra large dose of vitriol MEA is now experiencing, so I assume they'll learn quickly from MEA's blunders.
And if there's one word I never want to hear from the DA team is "soon". MEA's marketing strategy really killed in front of my eyes in a slow and painful way.

First time I saw her was in HBO's Rome as Niobe of the Voreni. A truly heartbreaking character and a fantastic performance. And Indira's role as Viv is outstanding, a perfect blend of courtesy and condescension. I'm very excited about meeting her again in MAI. Dumb question; what's MAI? fylimar She's definitely a fine actress! My Inquisitors who've freed the mages have enjoyed despising her! Acting is a tough occupation; never mind fame, just being able to feed yourself is an accomplishment! I'm glad BW appreciates her; I wonder how important her role is in Andromeda? Sorry, I meant Mass Effect Andromeda, so it should be MEA. Guess my love for DAI knows no limits.

She was so gorgeaus, that I developed a serious girls crush on her Maybe that is the reason, I love Viv so much First time I saw her was in HBO's Rome as Niobe of the Voreni. So much this. People seem to expect a life changing game for 60 bucks nowadays. Get real. 60 bucks is nothing. That's barely a night out. This game will give you hundreds of hours of enjoyment. Of course, unless someone doesn't share your opinion and actually doesn't like game enough to justify buying it. Also 60 bucks is 10-15% of salary in a lot of countries.for 60 bucks you can eat whole week. People like that probably choose their games carefully. A lot of people only buy on sales. So, take your advice, and get real. Hear, hear. As I mentioned somewhere earlier, in my country (and this is Europe, mind you) Andromeda's super deluxe edition costs around 20% of an average monthly salary. So, talking about "60 bucks being nothing" is kinda narrow-minded, if not downright arrogant.

I think that if Bioware had been given an opportunity to continue with the ideas we saw in the leaked footage, the game would be so much more interesting. Still, I played an obscene amount of time in DAI and while I'm very aware of its flaws, I just love it, as simple as that. I'm also somewhat optimistic about the future of the franchise - Trespasser was a very good sign, imo, that things in terms of game narrative and structure are going in a right direction. I recall Mike Laidlaw saying fairly recently on Twitter that Trespasser was a showcase of what a specific combo of leads (namely P. Weekes as lead writer, D. Kading as design lead and J. Epler as narrative presentation guy) can do when they join forces. So basically: what we saw in Trespasser we can more or less expect in DA4, as all those people are working on undisclosed title that is almost certainly Dragon Age game. This is great news, all the more to look forward to DA4.

True, Bioware has a gift of finding amazing voice actors (Miranda Raison, I bow to you). I haven't played MAI yet, but I look forward to it once all the bug-related/whatnot kerfuffle is dealt with. And from what I'm hearing about Tom and Fryda's performances, these two are absolutely stellar. First time I heard Miranda she was Fenris' sister. Also I got t say, I watched both trailers and I love how Scott's lines and Sara's lines show their different personalities. It's not a direct copy! I was not aware of that at all, now I have to replay DA2 (and with pleasure). I'll also check the two trailers then, maybe it'll soothe my overall disappointment.
