Speaking of AVP,If y'all haven't already, then you ought to play the "Alien vs Predator" arcade game, one of my fave arcade titles of all time(and the very last arcade game I played in the local arcade in the mid 90s before it closed). You play as either one of two Predators, or two human marines(one of which is essentially a cyborg Arnie from the first predator flick).
And speaking of Alien 3(I agree the assembly cut is good stuff btw), there's "Alien 3: The Gun" another quality arcade title.

The first three movies are all good. But they are three very different kinds of movies. Horror, action, poetic. In it's own contemporary perspective, the first, Alien, has to be seen as a magnificent masterpiece.
Resurrection was horrible. Extremely unsuitable director. He did his usual stuff. But whereas this is normally hailed as masterly by leftist critics (mainly because them were not american movies, and kinda also because that grotesque comic-book style was new and fresh), it's only cringeworthy and embarrassing when brought to the Alien universe.
I kinda okayed the first AVP, because I didn't really expect anything more. Cool enough. Haven't bothered to see anything else.
Prometheus is an okay movie, IMO. There are too many answers that there is too much wrong with though.
I fully expect Covenant to be a disaster. If it's not, I'll be very happily surprised.

From the comments; "If you’ve ever watched the reality show “whale wars” a lot of the stupid stuff the crew does in Prometheus seems perfectly realistic. Privately funded expeditions crewed by idealists that may be experts in their specific fields but dumb as rocks when it comes to practical application. Weyland was rich as hell and dying and possibly senile/insane. The crew of the Prometheus was about as professional as the crew of Sea Shepherd." Shitting on Prometheus is the new hipster mustache...

I love all of the Aliens video games. All of them. I can't pick a favorite.......the arcade game posted above was my 1st experience playing them....just fell in love..... is one of my all-time favorite PC games. I love part 2 as well. People love to trash on Colonial Marines, but to me its an excellent game....fun to play....yes, there are a few laughable moments like when you see your squadmate getting bum-rushed by 3-4 xenomorphs and they barely tickle him.....Playing that game on its hardest difficulty with just Hicks' shotgun....so much fun. Alien Isolation........oh my god........ , when I 1st got it, I loved the experience so much that I didnt want it to end....so I limited myself to only playing it 1 and 1/2 hours every 2-3 days...and when I was nearing its end....man. I am currently doing 2 more campaigns on it cuz I am trying to discover every single thing I possibly can. Alien Isolation is the reason I will be buying an Oculus Rift when it comes out.

I consider the first movie to be one of the greatest movies ever made, of any genre. It simply does everything right. The second one was a blast. The rest are below average imo, and prometheus was awful. I mean it's easily his worst film.

I'm going to be mentioning spoilers, so do not read my post any further if you wish to avoid them.
I'll come right out and say it: I hate this movie. I was excited to see a more proper Alien movie after the shitshow that was Prometheus, and I have to say that the travesty that is Alien Covenant actually kind of makes Prometheus better in hindsight. I have 2 major problems with this movie. First, I'm sick of seeing David being given so much importance and screentime. It was okay in Prometheus because he was one of the main characters in that movie right from the start. Not so much in this film, and the way they made him the creator of the Xenomorphs is absolutely fucking retarded IMO. David went from being a morally questionable android pursuing scientific knowledge through some evil means, into a megalomaniacal Antichrist who has by this point overshadowed the fucking Xenomorphs and themselves (and Ripley) in terms of story relevance and importance.
They also completely pissed away the one interesting part of Prometheus: the mystery surrounding the Space Jockeys and the creation subplot. The ending to Prometheus showed Shaw and David departing for the Jockey homeworld to get answers for why they created humanity and now wanted to kill us, and Alien Covenant shows us that it went.... absolutely fucking nowhere. They make it to the Jockey planet, but David immediately starts committing genocide on the Jockeys and seemingly kills every last one of them with the nu-Xenomorphs, and kills Shaw. ... What? That makes the entirety of Prometheus completely fucking pointless, not to mention opens a plot hole for the original Alien. If David is the creator of the modern Xenomorph (hatches from egg > facehugger > chestburster) and uses them to murder the Jockeys, then this just raises the question why in the original Alien film, the derelict Jockey ship has a store of Xenomorph eggs onboard. If we're to believe that David created the Xenomorphs as a sort of bioweapon and unleashed them on the Jockeys, why the fuck would the Jockeys be carting around the very instruments of their own extinction? And the Xenomorphs used on the Jockey planet weren't even the Deacon creatures seen at the very end of Prometheus, they're "real" Xenomorphs, which makes THAT bit of Prometheus fucking redundant too. The Black Goo doesn't return either, now it's weird spore powder shit that behaves in the exact same way as the Goo. And, if David can just create Xenomorphs (and by extension, the eggs and facehuggers) with the spores, what the fuck is the point of the Queen Xenomorph in Aliens? Ridley Scott's masturbating over Michael Fassbender is slowly eroding any interest that I have had for this film series before, which is a shame because the original Alien is one of my favorite films of all time, and damn near close to something that I can call a perfect movie.

Okay, here goes... 8/10 First of all, I need to state the fact that I am NOT a Ridley Scott fan-boy. I love the original ALIEN, Gladiator & Blade Runner. However, some of Sir Ridley's more recent films have been disappointing to say the least. Prometheus, for me was not one of them. I liked it, I enjoyed the ties to ALIEN/ALIENS and I understood that some of the characters might be fallible. Some might make mistakes and be manipulated. They might be dumb. I liked that not everything was relevant to our shitty modern pop-culture sensibilities. I liked that I had to ask questions, and I liked that the creature wasn't really killing everyone (at least, not in a familiar way). I went into Covenant pretty fresh, having only watched the teaser & prologue. I was glad there was a long gap between this film & Prometheus, as this gave time for things to develop... The movie simply feels right, from the first few shots. There is no weak performances, really. Fassbender & Waterson shine, but I'll say more about Fass later. The protagonist is Daniels, played by relative unknown Katherine Waterson. She is great, very subtle as the reluctant survivor. Yes, the feminist tropes are a bit heavy-handed in the 3rd act, but as this series is iconic for it's female leads it felt right. People (cunts) are saying that the creature is overshadowed by the actors, and I fail to understand how this is a flaw in the film. People, human beings are who we identify with, who we empathize with during a movie, and if beasts or monsters are looming too huge the audience will no longer be INVESTED. People are also saying that David/Walter's character develops too quickly, which is also asinine. Ten years is certainly long enough for someone's philosophies to shift, especially if that person is not a person at all, but a GODDAMNED robot. It's not only implied but more-or-less stated that the David line of synthetics are doomed to feel a creative urge, a desire to build. Whether this is a glitch in their code or intentionally programmed is left to the viewer to decide. Several other things regarding the plot and the relationship between the androids is left unclear, and this IS OKAY. I suppose that many people (cunts) have forgotten the lost art of subtly, symbolism & audience involvement in films. All the great master filmmakers used these tools in their work, from Hitchcock to Kubrick to Kurosawa. It seems many of us, especially the younger audience members have been lulled into a state of cinematic comfort, in which every movie we see follows a formula. In addition, technology allows us to rant about the "meaning" of each scene, which can easily turn a movie experience from a personal art form, visual and musical storytelling into a juvenile game of "I guess I'll conform to the popular opinion". It's okay to not know why a character does something. It's okay to decide for yourself. It's okay to disagree with your friends. It's okay to have a narrative go in an unexpected direction. This is what art is; it makes you EMOTE, feel something. It won't always be pleasant, but being out of our comfort zone, our "safe-space" is healthy, believe it or not. As far as the plot, yes it is somewhat formulaic. Yes, the action scenes were a bit cliche. But, I never felt pandered to. I felt like I was being served a favorite meal, with a different wine accompaniment. The things that happen made sense for the characters, and the questions raised didn't make me angry, just intrigued. The most crucial performance, no doubt was that of David/Walter. Michael Fassbender is allowed to spread his acting wings here, and for good reason. He plays these roles masterfully. His performance is so gentle, his portrayal of an android wrestling with its own sense of esoteric morality is truly great. It had shades of malevolence, but the intents or outcome of his deeds are never "villainous". It is more akin to a child playing with ants & a magnifying glass or a sadist training a pit-bull to dog-fight. Curiosity is what pushes this grim experiment forward, an A.I. wondering if it is simply made to serve or if it can make its own destiny. If it is doomed to be a part of a larger machine or if it can build its own maze, subjecting its own makers to whichever machinations occur to it. This is the real center of this film, the heart of it; a question which I cannot easily answer. Do we make our fate, or do our ancestors create our world & set us loose in it?

I think the problem I had with Prometheus was the cast. Although I find Noomi Rapace adorable, the only person/character I really remember from that film was Michael Fassbender/David. That said Alien is one to the greatest movies of all time. And Aliens is one of my favorite movies, right after Singin' in the Rain and The Empire Strikes Back.

I watched a YT review of the movie AC, there're several out there giving the thumbs down. It was a very detailed breakdown and I'm thinking RS just went round the bender. I'm definitely not embracing this latest vision of his of the alien franchise. I'm definitely pissed off that ES was killed offscreen and there were no details as to how. Also, why David decided to do this.
