So far we know there are at least 3 types of javelin armor suits, which will essentially determine your class and abilities. The colossus suit is a tank archetype, built for absorbing damage and using heavy weapons. The ranger archetype is balanced for defense and speed. The final javelin type is supposedly some kind of "wizard/caster" class archetype.
I'm hoping that the wizard type is more technological rather than "space magic" based, too many games have been focusing on inexplicable space magic lately. In mass effect terms, I'm wanting a tech playstyle more than a biotic. It can still feel like a spellcaster, just using technology - flamethrowers and gravity bombs instead of fireballs and telekinesis, perhaps.
Any thoughts on the javelin classes and what you're hoping to see?

I'm hoping there's at least one where "being good at shooting" isn't a required skill to perform well.

I assumed Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, no healer. Or, perhaps, Tank, Burst DPS, Sustained DPS with offheals and/or DoT. This seesms what Trinity games are becoming nowadays, nixing pure heals. I bet one of the Upgrades will have stealth for Ranger.
i don't care if it's blue biotics, purple life energy or Flamethrower, as long as I don't have to aim for headshots with blindsides on the sniper rifle.
otherwise, I'll tank, and then I hope it's easy to hold aggro.

I think this will be Destiny style in that you can carry the same guns no matter what your class, but you have unique powers, or in this case abilities native to the armor and probably a difference in defense, perhaps also in equipment slots.

Does it have healer/buffer builds? Sort of, I think there are buffs that come from some super abilities, though I've never really understood them as I haven't played those classes. I don't think they make a huge impact, but no healers (Destiny has regenerating health anyway)

The only real distinction is in super attacks, other than that they all play the same for the most part. The closest they get to a healer is that Titans can drop a force field bubble with one of their super attacks that people can hide in and get a buff from.

To be honest, the presence of the suit in such fashion, being able to fly and go underwater might make me try the game even if at a bargain bin price if the other news of the game will not be of my liking.

I'm hoping there's at least one where "being good at shooting" isn't a required skill to perform well. The colossus seems to be the "get close and smash things" type and that mortar shot didn't exactly need precise targeting. It wouldn't surprise me if the "wizard javelin" has area of effect abilities, it didn't even seem to have a gun actually. The ranger has that multi-target missile thingy where you just pass the cursor over your target to select them and shot all of them at the same time. I personally wonder if there is a 4th type. Or these 3 are the base models and the upgrade/customization allow you to becoming snipers, close ranger attackers, etc.

A lot of people keep asking for such classes and builds and though game makers at times add players that are semi support they never really come up with true healer support classes and most often still make it a necessity to fight aggressively. I'd like to see a true support/buffer/medic class for once.

I'd like to see a true support/buffer/medic class for once. I think its very hard to have a specialist healer class and not make it essentially mandatory. And then you always seem to end up with not enough people playing healers, and thus people playing them because they feel obliged rather than because they want to.

Probably true from a balance point of view but its a pity as I know i liked playing true support classes in things like old D&D and I know of quite a few people that might be attracted to a mp experience if they didn;lt have to do heavy fighting.

I would like to see a 4th type based on robotics/constructs. Give it combat drones that can provide aerial support, and repair tools to patch up your allies' armor suits.
I used to play a game called global agenda that had a robotics class, and loved it. You could set up turrets for cover fire, healing and power stations for team buffs, robotic drones to attack enemies, and forcefields/shields for protection.

Well, I think those Javeline Wizard Suits might be designed for the Girlfriend Class. Maybe a DoT DPS with little aiming required? I'd play that. I'm not proud or anything.

I wonder if they're sticking with Colossus, Ranger, and whatever, or if they will just revert to the original Titan, Hunter, and Warlock.

What I saw is a reverse trend lately -too many people roll healers, way out of the 25% you need. Which is no biggie in the game with alts, but if you have to put a huge grind per every geared character, yakes. Too bad, I love the role.

One plus here is that the gameplay reveal guy said "players will have an array of javelin armor suits..." To me, that indicates an easy way to change your "class" at any time you want. In destiny a hunter can't change into a titan, but here it seems feasible to swap from a ranger suit to a colossus suit without much hassle.

Yeah, I think players will have a number of suits at their disposal, and they can choose whatever they want at different times. It's more or less the same ideas behind the classless system in Andromeda.

Except, I bet it that upgrading each suit will not be easy, so you will be sort of forced to main? Or will it be alt friendly, and upgrades depend on your level grind? Surely not. Gotta be insentive to grind harder content for gear?

Who cares, I'm just using the overpowered one. Gotta get those score numbers up, rookies!
But without the [sarcasm]: If my avatar is a givaway, I'm using a universailist / all round balanced type.

It's more or less the same ideas behind the classless system in Andromeda. Which I think is a cool idea idea for this style of game. I'm curious whether the XP you earn is applied towards the specific exo-suit you're wearing at the time, or is it applied the character, which then applies to all your suits. Functionally, I love the capability of the suits we've seen so far. Aesthetically though, they're little generic for my liking, even though all the detail they've packed into them is great. I would have liked to have seen some unique design cues that would have reinforced the "Anthem" brand. I hope something like concept art shown above will make it into the final game.

I'm curious whether the XP you earn is applied towards the specific exo-suit you're wearing at the time, or is it applied the character, which then applies to all your suits. Depends how grindy they want the game to be, but having it applied to the character bring a few issues: - players will take the "easy to level with" exo-suit and then switch for another one later and suck at it - playing with a friend who just started the game and is still level 2 while you have been around for 6 months and already reached level 50, now you can't make a new "suit" at level 1 to play with him/her. The first one can't really be mitigated, the second one really depends how they scale the content, it might not really be an issue.
