At E3 this game was announced and I have not seen a thread about it so I'll make one. If you know the Metro series you know what the game is about but if you don't... Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.
Flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in the greatest Metro adventure yet.
Explore the Russian wilderness in vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.
Metro Exodus will be departing 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC!
E3 trailer:
Official website: www.metrothegame.com/en-us/As a longtime player of Stalker I really loved the Metro series which tried to grasp the atmosphere of the old Stalker games. It seems unlike the other two previous games Metro Exodus will have a more open level approach (maybe not open world). Hope this game will succeed, I'll definitly keep an eye on it. The setting make it certainly different.

I'm excited. The first two games are some of my favourite shooters in recent memory. If they manage to preserve the atmosphere that made those two so brilliant but blow it up in scale then it'll be pretty amazing.

Defenitely my second favourite game at E3 (after God of War ). I was honestly a bit blown away the moment the protagonist goes up at the surface, takes off his mask, and breathes. It was certanly a turning point for the series. From what I heard about people that follow the novels, it seems that Artyom eventually finds certain rural areas that were not hit by radiation and are thus habitable. It will sure be fascinating to see humanity trying to reclaim the surface, provide they manage to stay true to the spirit of the series.

Remember that a while ago 4AGames said they were working on something, and when people ask them for Metro they said "no, is not Metro" What a surprise, eh? So yeah, this one definitely has more Stalker vibes being more open worldy instead of locking you in very specific locations. I like it, I think it's a good move for the franchise.
Of course, as much as I love Metro I wish we had an actual Stalker, but that may never happen. I don't even know who holds the rights for the franchise, and whoever it is, it's a douchebag that refuses to sell it at a decent price (or sell it at all), that's why nobody buys it.

Yeah the trailer seems to imply we are going to explore the surface which is pretty neat, it's definitly a step up from the old games. I think the game is not going to be a pure open world per se but it is going to have larger levels with exploration and maybe some secondary quests. I really like the direction the game seems to have taken. Though I still think that by being a game derived from the novels, story will remain the first priority of the game. We shall see. Remember that a while ago 4AGames said they were working on something, and when people ask them for Metro they said "no, is not Metro" What a surprise, eh? I guess the guys didn't want to ruin the surprise. Agreed on the open world aspect though I still think it is going to be more of a semi-open world with large levels to explore but still connected with narrative. I feel your sentiment on Stalker, the original team made a Stalker inspired online shooter called Survarium but it's definitly not the same. I suppose the guys at 4A saw the vacum in that specific spot and wanted partially take advantage of it. If they will succeed it still too soon to tell. I'm however quite optimistic about it.

Exactly, they technically lied to us, but it was for the better. Yeah I think the game will offer more freedom, but always with a narrative behind. Metro games were always about the story, and the exploration aspect was bound to that story. On the other hand, Survarium is plagued with issues for what I know: cheaters, technical problems, and the game is leading towards Pay 2 Win model. Plus it never had proper publicity so many people don't even know the game exists and the fact that the market is a bit over saturated with these type of shoot-loot games that do a much better job.

Haven't played the two first yet, but bought them at a gog sale earlier this year, so they are on the backlog list. Read the first book though and really enjoyed it, so pumped for more of the games. Really good trailer.

After Last Light, this is the type of Metro game I wanted. More open world esque games, exploring the metro and surrounding environments.
But after the recent releases, I'm less the enthusiastic about any new games.
I do want more Metro in my life, but less triple a nonsense as well.

I just beat last light again. And I'm kinda hoping this game is going to give us more of the world of metro as a whole. Stations, the world outside, ect.
Lets just hope there are no loot boxes in it...
Edit: just watched the trailer for the first time. So...the air is breathable on the surface then? Interesting trailer otherwise. They got rid of the signature ubionk (probably spelled that wrong) shotty, for that new thing. Not a huge fan of the cross bow, seems rather out of place when the universe was using pneumatic weapons. But this seems like nitpicking to me.
I'll wait for the release, and reviewers to have a run at it before making my own judgements about the game.
