I think Anthem will be comparatively less of a shooter and rely more on an RPG-ish setup (learned from DA) and co-op group design (learned from ME MP) (and well, the shooter part itself from ME in general).
I think Destiny was Halo taken in another direction informed by MP/MMO exposure, but Anthem will be the past few to several years of 'Bioware' (even including SWTOR in some sense) being lessons on how they can take Destiny in another direction.
I think they'll leave the shooter *fixation* for other games, while still keeping the concept itself as a strong 'enough' part of the game.
That's what I saw when I saw that rocket attack in the video.

Although I've been wondering lately, will Anthem actually be a shared world? What I mean is, will we encounter other players in the wilds or the hub or will we only play together when invited? I'm not clear on that. investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=1029804"Anthem is a shared-world action-RPG" Yah, I'm calling bullshit.

Considering you can have (invited) 3 other players to join you in an open world, that world is shared with them. Shared-world doesn't mean anything outside sharing the game world with other players, the term itself doesn't give any information on how these people joined the same world as you or how many there are. Lots of gaming studio are starting to use the term for their own online games regardless of the genre they are in already.

Yes, a saw a lot of people saying that Anthem, it´s not like Destiny. Maybe the 3rd person action, maybe the Javelin armor. To me both have a lot of similarities. As someone who plays Destiny, I'll say the key difference based on the E3 demo Is that Anthem's open world looks MUCH larger, more alive and more dynamic. If the storms are signs of a dynamic weather then thats a big plus over Destiny's mostly static run down hubs with repeated timed events. The Wildlife is also much appriciated, seeing animals, bugs & large predators makes it feel more real & viseral. Truth be told the only real similarities are the parallels betweenthe Guardians(Destiny)/Freelancers(Anthem). As well as the walled city in both games, though it looks like you'll actually bein the city in Anthem rather than just hear about it like in Destiny I think when it comes down to it, the main point of similarity is that this will be a shooter that you can play with friends, a co-op PvE experience (Mainly). That's basically what the comparisons between Destiny and the Division get made on. Though I'm still undecided on whether this will be a truly shared world or effectively a single player open world game you can invite your friends to play with you.

Borderlands is not a shared world game. Destiny is. Gears of War isn't. The Division is.
This isn't hard. I'll bet $100 that Anthem is more Destiny and The Division than Borderlands or Gears. If anyone wants to archive this post and come back when we know for sure, I'm good for it.

I think it's a case of some similarities/differences having more weight than others. Maybe in this case the differences between Anthem and Destiny are bigger to a lot of people than the similarities. I'm keeping my mind open. I didn't get on with Destiny. I'm hoping for something different from Anthem.

(For non-gamblers: I'm saying I agree with lennybusker , a lot). We've seen one short gameplay trailer. To reduce the co-op and shared world claims of the game to "it's got a hub" is beyond reductionist. Maybe it's got a lot of co-op/shared world features, and maybe they are all rehashes/refinements of existing stuff. Or maybe they did something new and didn't want to tip their hand more than a year in advance of release. Who knows?

Calling it the Mass Effect killer seems apropo... Besides they didn't just "put an RPG on ice" to make another one to compete with Destiny 2. Anthem is going to be a looter shooter with minimal RPG elements no different than Destiny or Borderlands. Anyway no comment on the game world. It could be anything.

A single player open world is different from a "persistent" open world as in WoW, for example. Frankly, at this point in the marketing cycle, it's unclear what Anthem will be. I'm leaning towards co-op + mmo lite.
However, a truly MMO game requires dedicated servers while co-op does not. Given ME3+MEA = not dedicated servers, I'm surmising this will continue = less expensive for EA/Bio = P2P communications.
It's quite possible that Bio took the simple ME3MP concept (DA:I doesn't fit the co-op profile very well, imo) and decided to wrap it in a story mode SP + VO briefed missions. Also, it is interesting that the studio decided to emphasize the MP game from the start. We may yet see Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum difficulties as a simple way to have the players group themselves all by their lonesome. And the new content? = addon maps + VO mission briefs + background story.
Why did it take so long? = Dunno.
