This is just about your reaction to the announcement and trailer, relative to your thoughts before. Did you go from negative to positive? Positive to negative? How much?

Not at all. I was following the Twitter thread, so I expected pretty much what was shown. There were no revelations to shift my expectations either way. I was neutral, and still am neutral. It's neither SWTOR, nor is it a traditional SP game, nor the setting is any way outstandingly appealing to me.
There is a slim chance that there will be a couple of tweaks that would put me into positive. I don't expect to hear anything about such tweaks for a year at least.
About the only positive to negative was the pushback from Spring to Fall 2018. The realities of my life are such that the game being new in the summer 2018 might have been a slim chance to have a duo with someone, but Fall and afterwards means scratch that. By the time it's summer 2019, it will be too old to start it.

I wasn't expecting "Play Ironman in a lush jungle with big monsters, weird tech and 4 of your friends in this gigantic open world", so I went from neutral to positive.
and the flying and underwater looks glorious, who cares about shooting stuff.

Heh... as I was just saying in the Twitter thread, I was all but certain this wasn't gonna be for me. Everything I heard just made me think of it as "That game that's holding up DA4.". But as I was saying before, kudos to BioWare for turning my opinion right around on it. While there's still a ton of questions I need answered first, the demo got me hyped. I think Anthem had one of the best presentations at E3. Definitely in the Top 2 or 3 for me.

I picked the "neutral" to "negative" option, though really it went from "slightly negative" to just plain "negative". The MP and lack of RPG rumors had already dampened my expectations greatly. I was hoping the trailer would change my opinion but it only turned me off more. It started with the first person camera, and only went downhill from there. The only positive I can say it is looks beautiful. Still, I'm not giving up all hope (probably foolishly). If there is a great story and dialogue options I could maybe be persuaded. Throw in a good CC and romances, and it is looking better. We'll have to see. It clearly isn't going to be my favorite game ever.

It's pretty. That's about all I can say about it. My opinion went from "obnoxious side project that will hopefully get cancelled" to "expensive, unneeded boondoggle that will either tank and take the company with it or succeed and turn them into another Bungie clone."
So annoyed to quite negative I guess?

Not really, without any information I was kinda feeling neutral to optimistic and what I've seen has kinda left me in the same place.

How about neutral/negative to more negative? All I saw in the trailer were the very things Bioware has introduced into their last few games that have been p*ssing me off in the first place. But now they're building an entire game around them.

But now they're building an entire game around them. At least you know you don't like the whole game, it's cleaner this way... Well, yes. I don't know what kind of crowd that trailer was supposed to appeal to, but it wasn't me. You want to get my attention, tell me about the story. Show me the characters. Show me dialogue. Tell me I can shape what happens, that my choices matter. What we got? What we got is a light show. It's 'When you push a button, something awesome has to happen" Fancy graphics are all well and good, but I get plenty of fun out of Unity Engine games, so that's not exactly a priority. But story? dialogue, we didn't get sh*t from that. What we got is "Look at the pretty colors! Pay no attention to anything else! You know what drew me into Telltale Games and made me a fan? It wasn't a Johnny Cash soundtrack or a pretty light show, it was a simple black and white notice they put up at the beginning of The Walking Dead: "This game series adapts to the decisions you make. The story is tailored to how you play"

I went from neutral/on the fence to not at all interested. If MP shooters is Bioware's new direction, best of luck to them.

I expected the game to be not for me before and I was correct, same opinion before and after.
Edit: Have not voted as my option is not included.

luketrevelyan , Raga, Iakus , Kroitz For what it's worth, if you haven't read this post, I recommend it: bsn.boards.net/thread/11290/why-familiar-different-caseIt explains why the gameplay trailer was pitched the way it was, and how more traditional Bioware values, like story and character, might be waiting in the wings. I mean, why have Bioware make an action game in the first place, if story and character weren't seen as a competitive advantage in the action segment?

I mean, why have Bioware make an action game in the first place, if story and character weren't seen as a competitive advantage in the action segment? I know I am being a chronic wet blanket today but this is not comforting: "First, Bioware, as a develoment studio, has changed. I don't just mean that it is no longer the quirky, intelligent developer who made RPGs - I'll leave that opinion on the shelf until after the game releases and it can be properly reviewed, but I mean this literally. The primary staff of Bioware from the various eras of games you remember (Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, etc) - most critically, the people with vision behind these projects are all gone. Some of them aren't even in games development anymore, though many have just moved onto other studios and projects. So, if you're looking for a classic "Bioware" game, I recommend you don't follow the brand bioware, as the talent behind that promise is no longer at the same place. A bioware game doesn't necessarily mean a relationship-rich RPG adventure with a light heart and winding narrative any more. This isn't to say that we shouldn't give the new Bioware a chance. As mercenary as it is, the new Bioware is a very well-funded company, and their Edmonton office in particular has a fantastic track record, meaning that they can acquire literally the best talent in the industry. All told, I think that this means we can expect a top-quality AAA game from them." For me it's quite simple. If Bioware doesn't want to make RPGs anymore, good luck to them I suppose. However, they won't get any more of my money. "Story and characters" don't make an RPG an RPG. I don't want to watch some Bioware protag interact with a squad. *I* want to interact with a squad using a character that is at least partially my design (in more than just appearance and combat tactics). I want input on their morals and their personality. That is the core definition of an RPG: player input on morals, personality, appearance, and combat skills.

Heck between DAI and MEA, how much confidence to people even have of Bioware's open-world capability?

Some of them quite reminiscent of "old-school" Bioware. But the desire to see a big-budget "proper" RPG is still there. Since I really have gone for broke today and dropped down to join the "BIOWARE IS OVER!!!" screamers (something I never thought I would do), I might as well cinch the stereotype by pointing out that Cyberpunk 2077 does appear from all preliminary evidence to be an actual RPG.

I've been jaded ever since the comparisons to Destiny a few months ago, that gameplay trailer killed any hope I had left.
