Let me preface this by saying i really hope that the Mass Effect series dies. It's old, it's tired it needs to be put down. Either that or they need to pull a Bungie and pass it off to someone who is going to give this game the love it deserves. I feel like there should be a shelter for battered games.
Why do I say this? because looking at the trailer for this game it is clear they spent far more time with this game than the red headed stepchild esque toxic cespool that is Mass Effect.
The facial animations are there it looks amazing. however, I've heard this tune before. I've fallen for the nice graphics and the shiny gameplay and been left with a homeless mans sock for gameplay.
I was never really into Destiny. I played it for a while but we just never clicked. I played The division all the way through and loved it. That feeling of the world going to shit and you playing right after or during it is not something games tackle very often. I thought it was going to be like ESO but it wasnt and thats ok it wasnt trying to be.
What is this game? What is it about? I look at games like Star Wars and the name is in the title. Mass Effect is space. Dragon Age is...well dragons, magic wizards, monsters. The title says it all. Then we have....Anthem? Is this another singstar game? Are we gonna have to reach level 50 and then we're allowed into a karaoke bar? Will there be snacks? I'm so confused! The word Anthem doesnt conjur up anything in my mind. Nothing good anyways. Was your lead designer looking around the office and randomly shouting stuff out until you heard something vaguely good? "Table" "Magazine". I would love to know the thought process behind naming a game Anthem.
Is this earth after a cataclysm or is it some far off planet we have yet to discover? one of the things I loves about Horizon was they had a unique ending for the world. It wasn't nuclear fire or the polar ice caps melting it was man made and they had a front row seat to the downfall.
One of the biggest things that concerns me is that if this is an earth scernario, have they done it so that they dont have to wory about lore or science? Post apocalypse is far easier to write because all you have to do is come up with a nuclear fireball/killer virus and fast forward 200+ years.
I guess what I'm asking is what is going to make me want to explore YOUR world Bioware? Why should I care about this game? And why do you insist on letting EA run the show?
I dont feel like you have given enough time to have truly learned your lessons fron what you did wrong with Andromeda. I dont feel like you even care anymore. You fooled me with Andromeda I was on the hype train t shirt and everything and you screwed me. Not this time. I am starting to think bioware is a sinking ship and EA is the albatross around your neck. Any person working for Bioware who truly cares about RPG's needs to jump ship and get the fuck out before it's too late.
You are getting your ass kicked by Rockstar and other companies because you are more concerned with making money through pre-orders and DLC than you are making a game that people will be talking about in a good way 20 years from now. Baldurs Gate. you remember that game dont you? Let Mass Effect die. until someone has the patience and fortitude to see this genre/game through properly... leave it the fuck alone because you just keep getting it wrong and I for one am fucking tired of forking out money for a half finished scooby doo style story. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE WITH ME BIOWARE.
