'De aardappels afgieten' - To strain the potatoes. -Men only...
'Het interesseert me geen drol' - I don't care a turd.
'Alsof er een engeltje over je tong piest.' - Like an angel pissing on your tongue. -Having some food/drink you really love the taste of.
'Geef mijn fiets terug' - Give back my bicycle. -Ancient joke towards Germans who confiscated a lot of our bikes during WWII.

Transcended One So many great sayings! I actually recognize some of them, we use the one about kicking open doors and the turd one (although we do use "turd" in many different phrases). I laughed at the one poking fun at the French. Hmmm, what other Swedish sayings can I contribute... Skjuta mygg med kanon - shooting mosquitoes with a canon - overreacting to something, making a fuss over nothing.* Är man med i leken så får man leken tåla - if you are participating in the game you have to endure it - don't complain if you willingly got involved with something and it backfired. Mycket skrik för lite ull, sa bonden när han klippte grisen - a lot of wailing for little wool, said the farmer as he cut the pig - when a great effort/discussion has basically led to nothing gained. *Since I also have a Monty Python thread buried somewhere around here I feel I have to link this since it fits the idiom so nicely...

Nippy Sweetie: Scotland (West)
Traditional expression from the west of Scotland describing an easily irritated, sharp-tongued person with an acerbic manner. Essentially a verbal wasp. The term is an extended use of the original meaning, which was a sweet with a relatively sharp or tart flavour.
In common usage mostly used as a warning to other people "oh that's a real nippy sweetie watch what you say when you're speaking to them". In written form it's viewed as mildly derogatory (not always negatively so, it can sometimes be affectionate, as always the overall context and tone are key to the intent).

One of my favourite idioms within Deaf culture and ASL is "Train Gone, Sorry" To put that in context and understand its usage: If someone is signing and another person says "what, sorry I missed that?" the first person's response could be "train gone, sorry" meaning, they missed the boat (so to speak) and weren't paying attention. Or again, if two people are signing, having a conversation and a third person chimes in and wants to know what was said, one person's response might be "train gone, sorry" as if to say "sorry, you missed what was said and I'm not going to repeat it." (this is usually done among friends and/or said in a joking manner, it is not meant as a rude comment or to be intended to shut someone out of a conversation.) www.handspeak.com/learn/index.php?id=146site provided for reference in case anyone is interested in learning about ASL and Deaf culture

Some Russian literary ones for this delightful necropost. You can find them in books, but rarely in modern speech.
A bear's service - an action that only makes things worse for someone you've been trying to help. At the devil's swamps - very far, in the middle of nowhere. Ate a lot of henbane - acting aggressively. Can't ride up to them on a goat - a completely unapproachable person. Climb on a rozhon - deliberately ask for trouble. Rozhon was a large wooden stake used by bear hunters; they would goad the bear to charge they, so that it impales itself on the stake and dies. Come as everyone puts on their hats - come very late to an event. Originally referred to a church service. Filka's letter - a nonsensical document. Supposedly coined by Ivan the Terrible and refers originally to the letters Patriarch Philip sent to him. Make a notch on the nose - remember something very well. "Nose" in this context is a wooden stick, and the notches were made on it to remember something important. Naked as a falcon - very poor. "Falcon" in this context is a model of a battering ram made of bare metal. Onion woe - klutzy person, usually a kid. Pip on your tongue! - "Don't you dare say such things!" Point-rubbing - deception. In old times, card cheaters would rub black or red powder on playing cards to increase their apparent point value (this was before the card-makers started printing numerical values on the cards to combat that). Professor of the sour cabbage soup - a person who's unable to do complex tasks. Sour cabbage soup was perceived as very easy in preparation. Put something into a long drawer - postpone that "something" more or less indefinitely. Retired goat's drummer - totally useless person. "Goat's drummer" referred to a drummer who accompanied the dancer dressed as a goat at fairgrounds. Singing Lazarus - complain loudly (and usually less than honestly) about your misfortunes. Russian beggars in old times used to sing a song about the biblical story of Lazarus as they plied their trade. Swallowed an arshin - haughty and uptight (literally "holding your head like someone who'd just swallowed an arshin (71 cm) long ruler"). The game is not worth the candles - too much effort for too little outcome. Originally a card-playing term: the bets are so low that even if the host wins, they wouldn't make enough money to pay for the candles that light the game table. Conversely, "The game is worth the candles" means "The risk is worth taking". The Smoker's alive - something/someone that's still around, even though they should've been gone. From an old kids' game with kindling: they passed a burning splinter to each other, chanting "The Smoker's alive!", until it burned out.
