Basically what the title says. I personally wish we could've seen what life was like as a Templar recruit or a Legionnaire.

Not exactly one that wasn't offered, but I would've liked it if the Dalish origin allowed for Mages too. Story-wise, there's no reason it wouldn't have worked. A "Human Commoner" in some form or another (whether the original, removed one, or a Templar recruit, as mentioned above, or what have you) would've been nice, too. Beyond that, maybe a Vashoth merc ala the Qunquisitor would've held some appeal.

I would liked to have seen another type of human option and definitely a Dalish mage.

If I remember correctly, they devs had considered a Barbarian Origin too. It would have been nice to have something like that, just to see what they had in mind.

The clan's mages don't typically go outside and get their hands dirty. They just sit there all day and read books.

Dalish mage. Luckily, there is a mod for that. It's totally wrong and contra game lore, but I'd also love a dwarf mage. Just for the reactions from npc's.

I would have to say that I would have liked to have seen a human commoner origin that was from the perspective of a peasant/farmer/smallfolk. Of course, I'd still be a noble, but I'd at least do the Origin story. I also would have liked a Chasind/Avvar Barbarian origin, a person outside the purview of the existing Ferelden society.
As I said though, I pretty much only play as a human male noble character for all the games.

There is a mod called Human Commoner Origin - Revived by Kajana and Taylor17387. I'm using it now. It's not a playable origin, though. The mod author provides a slide show, similar to the epilog, describing the commoner. If anyone is interested, here are excerpts from the readme:
"However, the work already done on the origin, including all necessary scripting and plot flags for the origin to be playable in the main campaign, and even voiced dialogue, including the introduction to Cailan and the pc being called a ‘peasant’ at the Landsmeet, were not cut and remain in the final game. . . .
A gauntlet ‘ghost’ and a post coronation attendee were also added to the main campaign, along with one of the characters from the origin to one of the main quests. In addition to codex entries to expand on the origin and lines of dialogue when needed."
It's on the Nexus.
In answer to the question, I would have liked to have seen a fleshed out Dalish mage origin to contrast with the Circle mage origin. An Avvar or Chasind origin might have been good as well.

I would definitely try it out at least.

I wish they put fast paced combat because the combat is very unbearable. The animations are horrible, too slow to attack, can't even evade, block, or parry. I wish they hired combat designers who specializes in medieval fighting styles and motion capture to put it to work.

I mean, honestly, DA:O is now almost 8 years old and combat has certainly improved thru DA:I. On the other hand, it wouldn't be much of a BioWare game if the combat wasn't clunky and a bit confusing, now would it?

I have to agree with the Dalish mage (thank the creators for that mod) and the Chasind or Avvar origin. I'd prefer Chasind, because of the closeness to Ostagar and what happened in the Korcari Wilds.

It wouldn't even be that hard. Just change the animation of Mahariel threatening that group of humans with a bow and add a few special lines for when Tamlen asks why did you end up meeting him there.

You don't even have to change Tamlens dialogue much. The options 'I want to be with you of course' and the one about sneaking out of camp are suitable for all classes. And I would love to use a bow as a mage - in DnD that is possible and it's cool

I think they don't want to put forth the effort to do it and that's when Witcher and Middle Earth series comes in and proves that games can have a good story and gameplay.
