Merritt appears to use sock puppets to comment on his videos, pages, etc. I suspect Patrick Sinclair (now Phil Sanders on YT), Steven Reese, Jorg Kellar, Link Mason, Fangtasia HK, Rin Kodama and a few others are run by him. It's the same small circle of people always commenting on his stuff. Merritt and "Sinclair" were also members of the same Facebook Mass Effect public group that started where "Sinclair Networks" started the MEA DLC hoax: www.facebook.com/groups/1580035578916663/search/?query=ben%20merritt

Merritt seemingly put a ton of effort creating different pages, editing others like IMDB, and commenting on his own stuff. I'm not sure how deep this one goes but this guy is dedicated.

That Link Mason profile is still up. Note that Link Mason uses the exact same illiterate wording as Jorg Kellar to congratulate Jorg Kellar on his coup.

I wish I had taken more screenshots because there was a ton more of evidence out there linking him to "Sinclair Networks." I initially dismissed Merritt because his page appeared "normal." A lot of stuff was scrubbed by the time I got around to tracing this to him and even more was gone before I got approved to post here (damn bureaucrats!)

He owns or is an admin in the following communities:

Like I said, no idea what his motivations but this dude has been doing similar stuff for more than year.

It's obviously something they call a long con. They setup is several months old at the very least. The Jorg Kellar page, which was up the longest, already started last year. They also started by posting inconspicious stuff such as the upcoming first patch to establish some kind of credibility. Since there's no obvious financial gain involved, I'm at a loss what the actual goal might have been. Troll with too much time at their hands is the obvious explanation, but even for a troll that's quite the effort.

Thanks everyone, I just wanted to leave a "paper trail" on Merritt. He almost caused a lot of damage and people like him need to be kept in check. At least now he knows (I think he frequents this forums as well as Reddit).

Last thing, please go somewhat easy on samhain444. I'm 90% certain he was just an unwitting messenger. Anyways, thank you for your time and attention.

It is weird, though. I was a skeptic of his article because it's nothing but anonymous sources (can't cross-check them/verify/etc.) but I had nothing against him personally. Now it seems to be getting weirdly personal.

It's a lot like folks who seem to take it personally when someone likes a video game and they don't.
