Life Is Strange is awesome but it isnt especially new, and im not sure where it stands on rpg-ness (although I think it is to be honest) but its very awesome I saw Remember Me mentioned before and its made by the same people It has a female protagonist, great characters, can be funny at times, romance im just gonna go ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *glances at avatar* Combat is something it doesnt actually HAVE, but its gameplay is lots of fun anyway It gets a Gen stamp of approval and imo is a truly wonderful game, one of the most special and unique experiences ive had

I was wondering about what happened to that game. I was around when they were about to release the first game, but the amount of companion content was too light. Did they stick to Aurora engine or upgraded the graphics over time? They run on on Radon Labs own Nebula Engine. I'd say the graphics were decent at the time (not top notch but not bad either). IMO the games have pretty good atmosphere and style (especially if you know and like the PnP foundation). As for what happened to the franchise, I know Radon Labs started to go the online route. I think they published a Drakensang online game but that's when I lost interest (not an online gamer myself).

3 other games, I forgot to mention: Dishonored - stealth-action; the canon throws away player's choices each time; Venetica - an RPG, something between Fable and Gothic - some bandits burnt down protagonist's village and vengeance is in order. The Age of Decadence - an old-school turn-based RPG. The demo is available and it includes the 1st chapter (1/3) of the game. +1 for Age of Decadence.

I'd like to mention Alpha Protocol. It's got a male protagonist but it's a fairly unique game as it's the only modern day spy RPG I am aware of and it fits all your other criteria (including lot's of romance ). If you ever wanted to play a James Bond movie as an RPG, this is the one. I am also surprised your OP didn't mention the Mass Effect games or Jade Empire. They may be too obvious to mention on a BW board but just saying, they should be right up your alley. +Infinity for Alpha Protocol

I think they published a Drakensang online game but that's when I lost interest (not an online gamer myself). Yes, sadly this is how it ended. And I also lost the interest in it when they went MMO. As for the companions, well, I'd put them on the same level of New Vegas companions, more or less. In The Dark Eye there are 10 companions available, someone is more fleshed out than others and someone is also more tied to the main story than others. In the end I finished to stick with the companions which were more suitable for my build: a female amazon with a mysterious past and an interesting personal quest, a dwarf warrior which is strongly tied to the main quest and a female elf healer. Like I said they are more or less on a "NV level": when you recruit them you can ask them a bunch of question but when you have finished all the available dialogue lines there are almost no new dialogues for the rest of the game. The River of Time is different: you stick with 4 companions for the whole game and they come very early in the game, therefore they grow on you as long as the main story unravels. There is also a choice "à la Virmire".

I'd also recommend NieR Automata, made by the delightfully weird Yoko Taro. His games generally has female protagonists, this one included, and it's of the more complex and engaging among his games alongside the first NieR. Worthy checking it out if you don't mind an action RPG with Platinum gameplay, great characters, somber-dark-yet-still colourful apocalyptic world.

I would recommend Divinity Original Sin, a lighthearted game in it's nature, full of character and characters, no romances sadly... The second game comes out in September and I've heard only praises from the people who played the alpha/beta, and it will probably include romances. The combat system takes time to learn and master, but it is worth it.

Want a ultra violent game where you dish out the pain to your enemies.
No Anime/cartoony stuff and no shitty graphics.
No zombie genre; zombies bore me.
Not sure about survival genre; put it at maybe.
War, historical, fantasy and/or Sci-fi genres? Would be interested.
Got a 1080 ti and UW 1440p with Gsync.

Thought about it before but due to my utter hatred of Nazis... nope no alternative history for me. 3.) Too cartoony for my tastes. TBH not interested in those type of games from Japan. I am guess I am an old fart.

The Darkness II; Dead Space 1-3 (but it has zombies); Hunted: The Demon's Forge (old); Lords of the Fallen (it is not similar to Dark Souls); Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor; Prototype (old); Ryse: Son of Rome; Spec Ops: The Line (ensures pain); Toukiden: Kiwami (might be considered "anime").

Does anyone know a strategy set in the 17-18 century? Note 1: I did play Empire Total War, I enjoyed it a lot but I need something else. Note 2: NOT American Revolution, NOT French Revolution, NOT Napoleonic Wars.
