That was more like a tiny teaser than a trailer. But I'm excited anyway. April is still far away though. Was hoping a DLC wouldn't take over a year. But a along as it's good!

I'm still waiting for Forbidden West to come to PC in a Complete Edition like Zero Dawn has....But when it does, I'm buying it no questions asked.

I've been playing the series again this month. I'm presently about two-thirds of the way through Forbidden West. (NG+, Ultra Hard) The series is so good, and Forbidden West is really a masterpiece. There are details of the story I'd have done a bit differently, but those are minor quibbles.
The combat in particular is just incredibly well done, deep and engaging. Melee is so good now. If you take the time to master it, it's possible to destroy the most powerful machines entirely through melee.
My preferred approach to combat is almost always ranged. I'm continuing to master new weapons and gameplay techniques even in my fourth playthrough. There's so much more depth than in Zero Dawn. As much as I love that game, it feels so primitive in comparison to the sequel. They really knocked it out of the park with Forbidden West.
Forbidden West feels harder than Zero Dawn when you first start playing. That added difficulty, though, is needed because Aloy is way more capable and well armed. It takes a while to start getting the hang of Weapon Techniques, Valor Surges, Meals (boosts), etc... Once you master the new stuff, though, the results are so much fun.

I think what they have done between Zero Dawn and Forbidden West is one thing I wish other developers did <looks at BioWare> is not to aim to do everything at first and expand with the sequel. Get your basics down and then expand, it makes a more enjoyable experience. Edit: Then again, I saw people calling for a boycott of Forbidden West because they reused some animations that didn't have any issues.

Edit: Then again, I saw people calling for a boycott of Forbidden West because they reused some animations that didn't have any issues. I agree with the observation that the gameplay evolves evenly across the two games. It even makes sense in the story, with Aloy learning new techniques and discovering new weapons through in character interactions. We even have Hunting Grounds and Melee Pits that teach the player how it's done and offer practice. It's really well done. I thought I saw gripes about some animations being carried over. It's absurd. They were good animations, so why change? Of course, idiots complained that Aloy was given a beard. 🙄 It makes me think that these idiots have never seen an actual woman. If you look at a woman's face in the right lighting, you see the tiny, soft hairs (vellus hairs) that cover humans. I've only noticed it once in-game, but it was seriously impressive when it happened. The position and direction of the light lit Aloy in a very lifelike way. It's a beautiful game.

They're going to have to kill Sylens offscreen at the end of this DLC or in the beginning of the third installment because Lance Reddick (R.I.P.) has passed away. It's sad after the build up in two games, we're never going to see or hear Sylens again.
The alternative is to bring in an actor who can do a good impression of Lance Reddick's voice. That's a tall order.
If they do not try to do the alternative, should a new character be introduced to take Sylens's place? Who can match his technological ingenuity?
Thing is, why replace Sylens when there is GAIA. Once fully merged with all the remaining sub programs, including Apollo, everything of the Old World technologies will be available to her. The threes; Aloy, Beta and Alva could bounce off against GAIA for ideas / inspiration in the third installment.

I tis possible thou ghgiven Star Trek Resurgence did get an actor that sounds a lo tlike Leonard Nimoy t oplay their Spock for when tha tgame comes out. Besides wit hal the machines she's hunted in the first 2 games and all the scans she's made she's likel ypretty proficient with the tech herself. With the PS5 finally becoming easier to buy, it's a logical time to move away from PS4. I just read an article discussing the new cloud technology (the puffy-looking clouds in the sky) they're using in The Burning Shores. Since so much of the story takes place in the skies, they wanted it to be as believable and immersive as possible. blog.playstation.com/2023/03/29/pushing-the-envelope-achieving-next-level-clouds-in-horizon-forbidden-west-burning-shores/

It's sad Reddick passed away. His character, Sylens, I found to be someone who couldn't be trusted. He only cared about helping himself. In the third game, Sylens could easily be explained away. He decided to explore other areas far away from Aloy and others. That could be what Aloy tell's the others without having Sylens in the game.

I really hope they do not get rid of Sylens because the actor died. I've been assuming the whole time that he'll become a major ally in the third game. That he'll redeem himself and become a team player. Finally believing in Aloy. Maybe even sacrificing himself at the end so she can succeed.
I'd really hate for the character to be written out of the story. He's iconic. He's been integral to the plot in both games.
It's awful that the actor passed away but Sylens is alive. I hope they get a different actor. They did for Mordin and you barely hear the difference. Reddick had a very distinct voice so it might be more difficult to find somebody who sounds like him but even if not, I still want more Sylens.

I'm not well versed with english VOs, but Sylens / Reddicks voice seemed really distinct. That said, i'm one of those who can't discern between the two Mordin voices, so maybe they manage to find a replacement. Sylens was definitely a high point of HZD (haven't played the second game yet) and i would love to see more of that character

With the PS5 finally becoming easier to buy, it's a logical time to move away from PS4. I'm aware that they probably didn't know that the DLC would be too demanding for the PS4 but I still wish I'd known this before. Then I wouldn't have bought the game on the PS4 and waited for the eventual PC release. A PS5 makes no sense for me. Had I known the two games I bought the PS4 for would end up on PC (HZD and RDR2) I wouldn't have bought the console in the first place. I'm still pissed off about the whole thing. Because I don't think I want to buy the game again on PC and replay it just to play the DLC. So I'll most likely never play it and that bums me out. Like, a lot. I loved FW! The game ran totally fine on the Pro, even flying was smooth. I understand the decision but I don't have to like it. I feel cheated.

I wonder why they just didn't turn off the clouds and make sure PS4 players knew in advance? It's a bit more than just clouds. Both the sky and underwater regions are a huge part of the gameplay. The PS4 simply couldn't handle it, and they chose not to discard the new tech and the gameplay and storied it enabled. I'm really looking forward to seeing this DLC in action. I am preparing for a move, but I'm going to leave the PS5 in place as long as possible to allow myself a chance to hopefully complete it, first.
