While I respect your views on Mages and Mage freedom this discussion is going absolutely nowhere. Just think about it, why this is going nowhere. Not because of me, I'm sure. Down syndrome is IRL stuff, not like the mages. The thing is, I have family members with DS and it's a sad reality.

I never said, this is happy. I just said, it's rude to bring them out to illustrate the ugliness. But I think, you understand that.

Most of the characters are ugly in all of the games without heavy modding and re-shade to be honest.

Most of the characters are ugly in all of the games without heavy modding and re-shade to be honest. This isn't right. I saw many nice characters without mods, I also don't use mods (except one male qunari longer hair mod instead of the mohawk), but I don't see my characters "ugly". Maybe my taste isn't like yours. This is just superficial bullshit – not even criticism. According to you only the "beautiful" wo/men deserve beautiful lover. Because the beautiful wo/men are a superior caste. Who will decide, who's beautiful, and deserve a beautiful wo/man's love? A beauty-police? Unfortunately, many people suffer from depression because of their non-perfect face/body.

Agreed. Most non-modded Inquisitors I've seen looked pretty good.

It doesn't hold her above criticism. It's a bit baffling to me that you feel the need to criticize other people's characters (that don't even appear in your games) so much that you headcanon their LIs as having brain problems. I'm not sure if you're serious or trolling.

So, apparently it is now racist to point out that someone's Black player character is ugly? Wow. It doesn't hold her above criticism. I was making the comparison to calling someone with a disability inherently ugly but "it's okay! I have a family member like this so I'm immune to being called out out my ableism!" Ya bloody twat. Do whatever you want with your own save files, but don't barge into anyone else's experiences and insult them.

alrighty, new confession Today for the first time I made Alistair duel Loghain, and man did it feel good to me it personally feels right to either have Alistair duel him, or hand over the execution bat to him after you (or another companion) dueled Loghain a few playthroughs ago I made a human noble, who had a personal grudge against Loghain as well (let's face it, he (probably) knew about Howe's plans to kill the Couslands and did nothing about it), had her duel Loghain then when it was time to go 'off with his head' I allowed Alistair to do it, so both of them had their revenge against him
Also I'm trying to think of the origins that would be able to allow Loghain to life (aka. have no personal grudge against him) let's see... City Elf > big nope > Loghain sold their friends (and almost father) into slavery Magi > nope > he made a deal with Uldred, which made him go 'coo coo' (if he wasn't already) and try to destroy the Circle, also he had Jowan poison Eamon...there's that too Human Noble > big nope > (see above) Dalish Elf > maybe? > I mean, he isn't involved with the Dalish quest line in any way, though I suppose it depends on how they view their fellow elves Dwarf Noble/Commoner > again, maybe? > like with the Dalish elf, Loghain doesn't have any involvement with either origin or the Orzammar quest line (aside from the royal messenger at the gates)
then again, all of my reasoning could easily be pushed to the side if one were to play a ruthless 'use every material you have' sort of character which I personally never have, though I have spared Loghain on several occasions to see where his story would lead
in part he's a good man, but he's done some really bastardy things (and not just in the game, anyone who's read the books knows what I mean)
but yeah...in my canon world state...

also once saw a comic of someone who did that after Solas broke up with their Lavellan I've personally never done this, though I might do it in my next playthrough (the dressing people in yellow plaid I mean, not the romancing Solas thing, I'll not fall victim to Solavellan hell (too much of a CullenxLavellan fan), no ser )

*Chuckles.* Thanks, that brightened my day.
Until quite recently I thought it was an honour for my favourite companions to be chosen to accompany my Warden/Hawke/Inquistor on his/her travels until a few comments from Varric in some of the wetter and slushier areas of Theads told me otherwise.
That's when I upgraded my least-favourite companions' weapons, armour and gear next time I was in Skyhold and made THEM accompany my Inquisitor all over the world. Making it them who get too hot, or too cold, or too wet. Or have sloshing water or mud in their boots while my nice favourite friendly companions are happy, safe and dry in Skyhold. ;

I think it's interesting that the companions in Inquisition make remarks about the area they're in in that regard I'm a bit cruel, because I tend to drag along my favorites when I can
also, you're welcome

Maybe because despite initial appearances, Dorian isn't really that shallow? That those particular Cadash and Adaar had personalities he admired and grew to love, and loved him in return? That he rejected the notion that just because they weren't born into some arbitrary definition of physical beauty, they didn't deserve to live their whole lives alone? Or because maybe the devs like the supporting players who actually like playing PCs that resemble themselves (in this case, rough and short or big and hefty) and still get to be the hero?
Seriously, why do you even care how someone else plays their game, or what they find appealing? "Sorry, since you and/or your character don't match my personal standards of beauty, you don't deserve to even be able to pretend to find love." But not with Dorian... I mean he calls the Inquisitor handsome.
First off, one person who disagrees and outranks you is David Gaider. You know, the man who created and wrote Dorian? If he says Dorian can look beyond the superfical, that's all there is to it. Unless you are one of those "fans" who call the authors that don't abide by their personal headcannon "wrong" .
Second mistake is treating your personal aesthetics as universal. Hate to break it to you, but they're not . On this board alone there are several people who consider human forms bland and boring, and/or elves to be weak and childish. Conversely, many of them find dwarves and qunari to represent the exotic, strength, health and endurance, warmth, and most of all, being truly adult. Maybe when some say they find X attractive, they actually mean it.
Third mistake is your callous disregard of anyone who does not match your preferences. So because of an accident of genetics, these so called "ugly" people should stick to their own kind? Or even better, die alone before further polluting the gene pool ? You cannot really be so devoid of empathy to deny the basic humanity of these people. Some days, a kind word can go a long way.
Fourth mistake, I find it telling in your beauty rants, you never mention personality traits Dorian could be attracted to: intelligence and wisdom, compassion, wit and humor, courage, morality, and so on. Not the actual men, just their faces and body types . Fifth problem, aside from being personally offended by how other players play their own games for some reason, you actually hope Bioware wastes time and resources coding something to exclude people. Especially considering how the writers and devs talk about how inclusive they want to be . At this point, I would not be surprised if you considered a few acne scars or a broken nose to be "monstrous" . Along with all the implied body shaming, I wonder what this kind of attitude would be; face-ist, bueauty-ist ?

her reaction to finding out she's bound to her mother is hilarious

I'd like to apologize for the aggressively negative and antagonistic posts from the past week. This is embarrassing but I've had a really horrible case of PMS exacerbated by my severe and untreated depression . I've never nitpicked on such inconsequential issues even if they've bothered me but I never meant to be vicious. Yes, I do greatly prefer to romance Dorian with a Lavellan or a Trevelyan and that will never ever change. I am a perfectionist and have a professional diagnosis of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) so for me I like to romance physically perfect characters with other physically perfect characters. I like for my player characters armor and equipment to be matched perfectly tint wise. I like for every thing to be as perfect as I can make it. I never intended to appear as if I was policing how other people play their games. I can't change how I am. Ever since I began gaming I've always played as physically perfect looking people as I have never been quite happy with my own personal appearance. As well, I am fond of symmetry and in this case my player characters being as attractive as their love interest. I as well realize that I have impeccably high standards for physical appearances. There is nothing wrong with attaining or achieving physical perfection and beauty. Also, as a player if I am going to be spending tens of hours playing as them I want to be looking as someone extraordinarily beautiful or handsome. It is even more important to be in Bioware games as their prospective love interests refer to them as beautiful or handsome when flirting with them so in my mind that player character better be as physically appealing as I can make them.

At this point, I would not be surprised if you considered a few acne scars or a broken nose to be "monstrous" . Along with all the implied body shaming, I wonder what this kind of attitude would be; face-ist, bueauty-ist ? I vastly prefer beauty in both face and body, so yes. I do have impeccably and rightfully high standards. When I play DAI I head-canon Dorian and Cullen (my favorite LIs) as having similarly high standards so I create equally attractive characters for him to romance. Maybe less extreme slider limits would be in place for DA4. I am not saying to not make unique looking characters but there is a fine line between unique and ugly. I understand that some people are not talented at character creation. Neither was I for a long time as a matter of fact when I first started playing as Male Lavellans it was difficult for me to not make them look like Marilyn Manson whom I am not attracted to. As if I would find a few scars to be unattractive. My canon Trevelyan (Galen) whom romances Dorian in fact has a few light scars on his face from in my head canon a fire-rod incident at the tower in Ostwick but that only adds to his appeal and gives him character. I as well find Cullen's scar to be appealing and adds character to him. Believe it or not I do not find say, Barbie or Ken to be attractive as lot of people like to use them as a straw-man in beauty debates. I personally am attracted to someone with well-proportioned features, someone whom takes care of their body (not neccessarily needing to be exceptionally fit but when gaging my attraction or lack thereof speaks of that persons spiritual vigor and how they value their bodies) and to top it all has a great personality. I never specifically body shamed the Dwarven or Qunari races. In fact, the female Qunari in DAI have the best physique out of all the playable races. It's the Elves who usually get body shamed as a matter of fact. To be honest, I am not 100% happy with the limitations of the body types we get for our player characters. I'd have preferred to have my Circle Mage Trevelyan to not be as muscularly ripped during the prologue as he has lived in the tower most of his life. I'd have preferred for my elven Warriors to have more defined arm and shoulder muscles and wider torsos than their Mage and Rogue counterparts. I do not find any races body type specifically ugly as they are all physically fit and need to be. Even though I mostly play elves I am not 100% happy with their bodies either and their head / body proportions as the head looks abnormally large as opposed to the shoulder width. Then again as I mentioned in my previous post I have severe OCD that I have not found a proper treatment for. In short when I play the game I like to play a fantasy where I can create the most physically desirable character whom I possibly can. I will try to not be critical of others standards when they play. I wasn't graced with beauty either.

My first Warden did the ultimate sacrifice, but not for one moment did I think he was really going to stay dead. That's not how it works, is it? Something like the ending of Mass Effect 1 was more what I was expecting.

I chose Merrill as the LI for my canon Hawke, but in my heart I know that it should've been Isabela. She had 100x more chemistry with him and was the most plot relevant LI after Anders.
And yet, I couldn't bring myself to do it. Even with all the justification that is offered, I can't forgive her for having a harder time falling in love with male Hawke than she does female Hawke.

Amell is my least favourite origin, simply because I don't want Hawke to be related to the Warden - it makes Hawke too special for my tastes.

Anyone here ever let Morrigan drink from the Well just because of her reaction when she finds out she bound herself to Flemeth's will?
That's one of the main reasons I do, actually. Serves her right.
I also like drinking from the Well as an elf and telling her to sod off.
