I actually just finished that. It was good to see Pritchard and Jensen working, and snarking together again.

I actually just finished that. It was good to see Pritchard and Jensen working, and snarking together again. Yeah, it was great to have them back together. I found myself grinning and chuckling multiple times with their banter, and it felt very nostalgic. How was it? I have it installed but haven't played yet since I'm in the middle of a DX1 game. I really liked it. There was the nostalgia of working with Pritchard again, the fun gameplay of the franchise as well as adding a few new things that was interesting to deal with, and had a fun little story. I also like how connected it Deus Ex: Breach to the main game, albeit indirectly.

How was it? I have it installed but haven't played yet since I'm in the middle of a DX1 game. It was good, thanks largely in part due to their interactions. The DLC is also longer than the Desperate Measures story. It's a standalone story with only loose connections to the main campaign. And as Hanako Ikezawa mentioned, it indirectly ties into the Breach minigame.

I discovered something new to me last night playing DE:HR.
I've always played it as a nice guy but this time my Jensen is a son of a bitch. I thought I'd do the quests for the detective hooker early on this time round, so went to look for the stash in Derelict Row. As Jensen is in a permanent bad mood he decided to clear out all those punks, so I did and then got to the roof top with the antenna located on it. The quest to turn the antenna on the roof off happens later, but I was able to do it anyway. Pritchard comes on the line and says 'Jensen. What did you just do?' When Adam asks why he's interested Pritchard says 'oh no reason' and goes off the line. Later at the apartment Sarif calls and laughs at how fortuitous it was that you'd already dealt with the issue. I then got the quest and it auto-completes along with the ghost achievement even though I went in all guns blazing.
Anyway, it's really neat that I can be surprised by new dialogue and events third time round. I hope MD has such depth.

The neuroplasticity calibrator trophy/achievement comes to mind. My major issue wth MD is that Adam is too overpwered. the game up till now (utulek complex) has not provide me with any real challenge. Also vents and ammo are plentifull and too esasy to access /obtain. With that said i really like the game , hence the collectors i bought!

Just finished Deus Ex HR again, first time in a few years, and i finally got to play it on PC and Directors Cut. So the Missing Link was included, never played it before, great piece of DLC. The dialogue and gameplay still suprises me, it is so well done. So now i have to buy Mankind Divided, heard some great things, well except for Square Enix meddling where they shouldn't.

The "Helle" mission has been a real highlight of the game for me so far - the portrayal of an AI unsure of its own identity was done really well. I sense that I'm near the end (just got to London), and so far I'd concur that it has a better setting than HR but that the story isn't quite as compelling. Prague is really well-designed (though the sneaking around during the lockdown was a little tedious), as is Golem City, and the TF-29 headquarters feels like it has the potential to match the Normandy or Skyhold for a "home base" for the player-character. I'm actually a little bummed that I probably don't have too far to go because I feel like there could and should be more to do in these places. I think where both MD and HR fall a little short compared to Bioware games is that most of the NPCs are kind of bland characters, and Jensen's interactions with them don't carry as much weight as the player-character/squadmate interactions we usually get from Bioware. I'm not saying the games need romances, and I get that Jensen is a loner by nature, but the relationships don't seem to develop much over the course of the game. The main opportunities I get for character-shaping are when Jensen needs to persuade somebody to cooperate, e.g. the Samizdat crew or Talos Rucker.

His standing out results in his skull being ventilated as soon as I get my hands on silencer.

Those three were better than any of the MD characters, but where they suffer a bit compared to Bioware characters is that their relationships with Jensen don't really evolve at all. Again, I'm not talking about romance - it makes sense that Jensen isn't particularly interested in that. But Pritchard and Jensen go back to the snarking even after you do Pritchard's side quest, and while it seemed like Jensen and Malik might become closer platonic friends, I didn't notice much difference in their interactions over time.
I do like "K" from Samizdat and the TF-29 psychologist, and I'm somewhat intrigued by Alejandra Vega's motives, though I won't argue that any of them are particularly complex as characters. I also find myself wondering what exactly was Jensen's motivation in deciding to help the Juggernaut Collective. Not that I can't imagine how he he would, but it's not exactly an obvious choice either.

Well, part of this is Jensen himself is a set character and we have very limited range in how we can portray him. And since he doesn't change much, neither do his relationships particularly evolve. Vega is a complete mystery to me. I have no idea how they met or why he trusts her.

Finished the game tonight. Overall I'd rate it as "good but not great" - the details of the plot and the characterizations don't quite live up to the setting or the premise. I'll probably give it one more playthrough, and I plan to try out Breach and Jensen's Stories too. It's clear that they're setting it up for another Deus Ex game featuring Jensen, which I'd welcome. I'm wondering, though... does anyone else get the sense that Jensen may be headed for an unfortunate end? Not only are the Illuminati apparently using him to get to Janus, but he's saying he wants to go after Page and Manderley. I never finished the original DX games, but I gather that this effort is going to fail given that both are at large in the first game.

Well, you have to consider the length of time that the events of the game occur too. Bioware games have their stories span months or even years where Human Revolution was only like one or two weeks. So it makes sense the relationships don't change as much in Deus Ex than in Bioware games since nowhere near as much time has passed for them to grow and change. Even then they still do grow and change, like Jenson and Pritchard becoming friends even though they still snark at each other, just it is more subtle. The System Rift DLC in Mankind Divided really showed that well too.

No thread for Mankind Divided?
I'm just starting my second run. First time round my Jensen was lethal and always in a bad mood, this time I'm going for Pacifist and a nice guy. Anyone done that achievement? It was a bit of a bugger in HR yet I was able to get it along with foxiest of hounds and hard mode, so I'm hoping it'll be doable this time.

I got that achievement. It's a lot easier than in Human Revolution, lots more nonlethal options. I was terrified that I blew it when I tazed someone into a puddle of water, was sure that killed him

Realistically, a non-lethal play-style SHOULD be more difficult. It should be much easier and quicker to take down enemies with explosives and automatic fire, than it is to stealth and pick them out with non-lethal weapons.
Human Revolution had the exact same problem, it was way too easy to incapacitate victims then for their absence not to be noticed. I liked how in Dishonored 2 handled it. I knocked out a guard who was typing at a desk and dragged him away. Then his colleague came out and said that someone should be on duty and raised the alarm. It didn't happen often but at least it was a little more immersive. I had hoped MD would have more stealth tactics.

I deliberately put all the cops in a puddle of water in that train station and electrocuted them. You'd think the taser would do the same thing.

Okay so I found the original Deus Ex thread. I thought there was one but it didn't show up in a search on the Other Games sub, nor when I looked for threads with it in the name. I eventually found it by going thru posts - bsn.boards.net/thread/338/deus-ex?page=11So if a mod wants to merge or delete this or whatever then go ahead. SofaJockey

Tbh, while I liked that in-game morality didn't necessarily mean anti-fun, it's not very immersive.
Realistically, a non-lethal play-style SHOULD be more difficult. It should be much easier and quicker to take down enemies with explosives and automatic fire, than it is to stealth and pick them out with non-lethal weapons.

It didn't happen often but at least it was a little more immersive. I had hoped MD would have more stealth tactics. What I mean by "easier" is that you have more options. Nonlethal weapons in HR were extremely limited. Now you have augments that function like tasers or a PEPS gun, the ability to hack car alarms and such to distract guards, and so on. You can even upgrade the Typhoon to be nonlethal (sprays gas instead of ball bearings).
