I missed Pacifist twice because I always forget that you also can't kill anyone in the prologue... I've given up for now. Also, I sometimes take down everyone silently and then kill them with silenced pistol headshots. The jerks that shoot up Alice Garden pods, for example.Lol, I can relate to that . I think I have played through the whole game twice, and my normal mode of operations in such games is always the "pacifist stealthy" way. I distinctly remember that this was the exact point each time at which I´d seen enough of Belltower and decided that the detachment in Alice Garden was going to be retiring right now....permanently .

DE:HR drives me nuts. It outright refuses to give me "Pacifist" achievement for not killing anybody. I've tried at least three times but it's just not going to happen, apparently. I'll give it one more try before Mankind Divided release, but I'm expecting another failure. Edit: Saving Malik was easy for me, even though I don't recall what exactly it entails. But I do remember tough moments and that isn't one of those. I had one whole playthrough ruined because somehow someone I knocked unconscious fell (or something) and died. My trick has been to try to knock out as few people as possible, going the ghost route all the time. Saving Malik in pacifist and ghost mode was the hardest thing, but I managed it. Not spotted, not killing anyone AND saving her in time is an achievement I'm really proud of.

Got hard mode, ghost and saving Malik at the same time. When I looked into getting the Director's Cut I refused to do it as the achievements wouldn't cross over. Nope, worked too hard for that.

I saved Malik non-lethally, and I believe the only tricky thing i had to do for that was to EMP this one robot and ensure that it's explosion wouldn't harm any of the enemy troops.

Yup, that's the tricky section. It can take them out, so I quickly had to drag them away. I have to admit, I'm a little underwhelmed by the facial animations I've seen so far. They seem like they're a few years old, not up to par with other premium games. I'm also missing the iconic DE:HR visuals, the golden glow and steampunk feel. Not got that from what I've seen of the new game so far....

I think that's the devs' response to people telling the game had a "piss colored filter". Colors were perfectly normal most of the time, but the general palette in the city area did tent towards the yellow (or actually more earth tones). It varied a lot throughout the game. People forget that the first DX was pretty much all blue and dark with a few different colored sections in between.

Now it just looks like any other grey game with guns and moody ppl.

As everyone who got it like that should feel proud. The Official Strategy Guide for Human Revolution states that getting Good Soul while trying for Pacifist on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty is the hardest achievement in the game to get. However, I think they patched the thing about unconscious enemies being caught in explosions not directly caused by you(like a Box Guard that was EMPed self-destructing) as counting as you killing someone, since I've seen people who don't move them yet still get the achievement. As for the Director's Cut, if you are playing on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility it doesn't negate the achievements or offer them all again so if you play on that I reccomend getting it since it's worth it, especially the developer commentary.

They patched it? I hope so, it's pretty hard. What bothered me most was the achievement not tracking, so that if you killed someone you had no idea until the credits roll. Very frustrating. I'm on PC and when I checked a while ago it said it wouldn't carry over the achievements.

Now the only ways people die that count towards you is when it is directly your fault, like if you tranq someone who then falls into a hazard or off a building and the occasional lethal reaction to non-lethal weapons. Perhaps when they made it backwards compatible it was patched, if so maybe it was patched for PC as well.

Thank you for that. Will she make a cameo? James Swallow @jmswallow @user @deusex We love Malik! She's mentioned in Black Light but she doesn't appear in the book.

Since Mankind Divided comes out next week, figured I would help a friend and link their Let's Play of Human Revolution they just finished here. He also plans on doing one for Mankind Divided when it comes out, as well as maybe other kinds of videos for it, like achievement ones. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUgmXJqs37aa4kY2GLybiCc7REflC-yzy

So, are people going to do a full pacifist/ghost playthrough from the get go once it releases, go in guns blazing or what?
Personally I'm going to aim for stealthy and minimal casualties, but I'm not going to rule out killing entirely. Especially with so many new toys that Jensen has to play with.

I plan on doing a Casper(Friendly = Pacifist and Ghost = Ghost) playthrough. One of the biggest selling points of the Deus Ex franchise for me has always been the fact you can use non-lethal means to complete the game, so most of my playthroughs will be that. Since it has New Game +, that playthrough I may do more combat stuff since then I'll have more new toys unlocked and upgraded to play with.

I just finished the original Deus Ex and anyone that wasn't apart of Majestic 12 I tried not to kill. But if you were a robot or a member of Majestic 12, you die bitch! Plus in Human Revolution the stab mechanic was so visceral and gratifying it was hard for me not to use it, but basically it all comes down to how I feel about any one particular faction, whether or not I kill them or not.
And speaking of Deus Ex I thought it was cool that you could use a kill switch on a boss. Also, for my ending choice I cuckolded (Yay! I finally used that word in a sentence) Bob Page. Suck it, Bob Page.

They have several now since Microsoft figured it out, but as a Deus Ex fan I like how it was the first, just like as a Mass Effect fan I like how Mass Effect 1 was the first overall backwards compatible game to work.

I'll do what I normally do when stealth is available. For both Dishonored and DE:HR my first run was all guns blazing. I'll also be a bad guy. That worked well in both those games as it gave me a chance to learn the maps and the mechanics and whatnot. Then when I play a second time I can be a good guy, full stealth, ghost, no kills, and really take my time and explore everything. It's good therapy to then be nice to all the people I horribly murdered first time round lol.
It backfired a bit with Dishonored though, the high chaos ending was so great that I was super disappointed with the low chaos one the second time round. Oh well.
