I agree with the others, you'll be fine. I was scared that I wouldn't have enough supplies to face the Archdemon at first, too, but if you have enough coin (which logically you will have by the time you get to that last merchant point) you can stockpile on pretty much anything you want. And, while facing the Archdemon, watch out for the ballistas, they pack quite the punch. And you'll have some unexpected backup too.
I have like 40 gold by now... I spent some of it on prostitutes but eh... cant take that back now im totally gonna stockpile everything
Well ive got so far and have only lost about 4 soldiers from each 1 and if they can help me then thats all good
And ive kinda made myself not die with the dark ritual so everything is good
I didnt want Loghain to be a Grey Warden so I uh killed him... well technically I had Alistair do it because I think he wanted to but yeah... Loghain is dead

Four soldiers isn't bad at all. In what difficulty are you playing? He was dead in my playthrough too. A part of me wanted to keep him alive, but I didn't have the heart to disappoint Alistair. xD

Um the easiest one I play mass effect 3 multiplayer on like silver mostly and gold occasionally with bsners but other than that I play every game I own on the easiest difficulty Haha I figured that I wouldnt betray Alistair for a guy who has done nothing but been a pain in the butt... I wish there was an option for kinda letting him survive but not making him a Grey Warden and not killing him... but I guess that was the point of the decision im all for forgiving enemies but not at the expense of my friends And... I dont know... killing Howe and then Loghain kinda felt to complete the story in a way... It started because of Howe's invasion and Loghains betrayal... both kinda were wrapped up in a satisfying way It was almost like my character put the betrayals of the past behind her and like focused on the blight... not about taking revenge or righting wrongs or getting involved in politics but actually solving those problems to put the blight first... if that makes sense

I collected masses of elfroot at the start of the game (im a hoarder) but I quickly ran out of inventory space so I got rid of most crafting things... because I didnt craft anything really Ill bare that in mind next time... and stock up ready I think Andraste Flemeth??? I only fought a dragon Ill bare the spirit damage in mind I have an enchanted axe which does +4 electricity damage and +4 damage to Darkspawn I think so with that at my side I cant fail (watch me return in a few hours saying that everyone died because I suck at video games ) Im thinking of being an elf in my next playthrough but I cant decide between rogue or mage... Im thinking mage Some of the spells sound super powerful and Id like to be a shapeshifter Your mages would have the basic ability to craft the weakest health potions which are better than nothing. I always build up the potion skills of at least one mage and the poison-making ability of one rogue so my team can always make health potions and grenades. Live and learn on that one. So the only dragon you killed was Flemeth? In the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, you can use the horn you get off of the body of that maniac Kolgrim to lure the Dragon his cult worships and kill it. You can then take the dragon scale which you get from that fight and take it to Wade to craft some special armor. Did you ever meet Wade or have him craft the drake scales? As to weapons, don't forget about runes, especially the silverite runes which are good against darkspawn. All runes are helpful. If you still have some in your inventory, that last merchant may....never mind! You'll do fine! (But the difficulty level can always be adjusted just in case...) Compliments on doing the game without a strategy guide unlike certain wimpy individuals who shall remain nameless...

Yes next time ill level it up for sure
I met the dragon (which was asleep if I remember correctly???) in the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest and as I left the temple/whatever I managed to get its attention by uh shooting a spell at it which meant it landed next to my party and brutally murdered us all... so I reloaded and left it alone after that I have a quest for drake scale armor??? but never figured out how to do it haha
My axe is already runed up One Silverite and one lightning and one which gives me +10 physical resistance or something
Not when im on the easiest difficulty already haha
Thank you! It didnt exactly uh go to plan... I had no idea Sten was a companion and I figured 'oh hes just a criminal its fine' so I left him in his cage so yes hes dead... I was also planning on romancing Leliana but THAT didnt go to plan and I was also hoping for Isabela and Leliana but that didnt go to plan either because I had no idea about the whole hardening thing... overall though ive really enjoyed Origins and ill play it again for sure once ive finished it (if ive finished it) ill move on to Dragon Age II (just wait for a thread like this over there... ill start a series of 'help Lauren not suck at computer games' threads ) and then Inquisition... just so I can experience them I guess... although I might start another playthrough of Origins meanwhile
Dragon Age Origins is just... I dont know... when I first started playing Mass Effect 1 my initial thought was 'wow everything feels so slow and clunky and the inventory system sucks'... I didnt get that feeling with Origins I was just kinda absorbed into it... and although there are things that Id make better in the game for sure... its a very complex game in a way I like that

XD I'm of the 'I want to get immersed in the story and enjoy it without getting killed every 30 seconds' camp. And yes, it makes perfect sense. ETA: About the dragon scale armour - there's a blacksmith in Denerim called Wade. He can make some pretty good armour out of those scales.

Yes, there are both drake and dragon scale quests. The drakes were those medium size dragons in the caverns. For both quests, you go to this smithy in Denerim named Wade. With the drake scales, he can make two sets of light armor that's especially good for rogues. With the dragon scale, you can make one set of medium, heavy, or massive armor. As to Sten, what can you say? The game involves building a team with a motley group of questionable characters. If you roleplay your Warden as a "by the book, law and order" type, you might not choose to take either Sten or Zevran into your team. With Sten, I had Morrigan, Leliana, and Alistair with me when we came across the cage. The women were all for finding a way to free him. Alistair not so much. He also thought recruiting Zev was a questionable idea. I always play my wardens as having a pragmatic "we need all the help we can get" attitude. Just curious, are you playing on PC? Or on an Xbox or PS3? I play on PC and make massive use of the tactical camera since I play on nightmare. Console versions may force you to play mostly in real time.

Haha from what ive tried so far the easiest difficulty is enough for me I think Me too and the reason why I play computer games is to kind of relax (even though some do stress me out depending on the game/difficulty)... I dont play to get annoyed id rather easy combat and mostly story rather than hard combat and a bad story
Yes next time ill level it up for sure

Ok thats good to know
My warden is kind of... well... you said 'we need all the help we can get'... she thinks more 'Ill accept help from anyone for as long as they do the right thing'. Zevran was recruited because he genuinely kinda showed remorse I guess... but for example she would NEVER accept help from someone like the slavers in the warehouse in the Alienage and let them go free... so she accepts help within reason I guess Shes willing to give second chances but for as long as they ARE second chances... a chance to do something good... if the person will just carry on doing bad things if she lets them go/accepts their help then she wont accept it In a way... its almost like she wants to be better than Loghain... hes very 'no matter what the cost', and shes more 'sometimes the cost is too high'. To her in a way its almost like she thinks 'the only reason why it would be in any way helpful to oppose loghain is if we're better than he is'. To me, Loghain is a criminal and a traitor... and to her, being allied with criminals and traitors would make her no better than him... so it would defeat the point of opposing him if that makes sense

If you like customizing things, playing on PC is awesome. You can install "mods" which do various things. Some improve graphics, fix bugs. There are mods which do away with the underwear during romances. Some provide improved face morphs, hair, etc. to improve character creation. You can take a look at Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition with all its DLCs for PC can be purchased pretty cheaply online. Regarding Riordan trying to recruit Loghain, that's actually what Grey Wardens frequently do: they recruit criminals who demonstrate skills Wardens appreciate. Remember Daveth from Ostagar? He was a cutpurse who was recruited by Duncan after he had been caught....trying to steal from Duncan. Duncan himself had a similar history if you read the DA book "The Calling." Of course, you Warden and Alistair are both newbies who are still unfamiliar with many aspects of being Wardens. (They didn't know about the Ultimate Sacrifice until Riordan told them.) So choosing to execute or not execute Loghain is totally understandable. (I haven't recruited him yet.) hes very 'no matter what the cost'
Did you do the Soldiers' Peak add-on? It shows you that Wardens are very much the same way; do whatever it takes to win, even blood magic. For that matter, did you have access to the add-on that allowed you to recruit the character: Shale?

Ill add that to my list of games to buy/play See, my warden would disagree with recruiting criminals. I guess that kind of act and trying to overthrow the king were the reasons they were outlawed. Again it kinda goes along with trying to be different from Loghain and trying to prove him wrong... about the Grey Wardens I mean. Maybe people were so ready to believe that the Wardens were the reason behind ostagar was because of things like that. No I have no dlcs I guess in a way shes kinda learned from the past mistakes... if the Grey Wardens want to be welcomed and trusted they need to behave like warriors and not like vigilantes or something like that... to me a human noble would think something along those lines... they would know how important laws are and again the Loghain thing... showing he isnt right about the Wardens would be a pretty important thing to do... even if it doesnt have any effect in the game for role playing purposes like not allying yourself with criminals would be pretty important while trying to convince people youre not a criminal Anyhow... I did it Sandal... oh my god that was so random any chance that guy is a god in disguise or something??? I love that guy Ummmm basically I let soldiers (and Alistair he died within seconds) sacrifice themselves while me Morrigan and Wynne were stood next to a ballista firing all the time The ending also made me cry Beautiful game will try DA2 tomorrow but I have to go to work now

I love that guy Ummmm basically I let soldiers (and Alistair he died within seconds) sacrifice themselves while me Morrigan and Wynne were stood next to a ballista firing all the time The ending also made me cry Beautiful game will try DA2 tomorrow but I have to go to work now Outstanding! Again, I would encourage getting Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition because it comes with all the DLCs. One of them, "The Stone Prisoner," gives you Shale as a companion for the main game. Shale is a golem like the ones you saw during the Deep Roads adventure. There's also "Return to Ostagar" which allows your team to return to Ostagar for a bit of revenge and to reclaim the armor and weapons of King Cailan and the weapons of Duncan. The "Soldier's Peak" DLC allows you to reclaim a haunted castle which once housed the Wardens of Ferelden. (You can also come away with a neat set of Grey Warden armor.) The other DLCs are adventures that follow the end of the Blight. The most important one being "Awakening." If you go to DA2, a quick description: you play as a character named Hawke whose family flees Lothering during the Blight and takes refuge in the city of Kirkwall, a city-state that's part of the "Free Marches". Hawke can be male or female and he/she can be a mage, warrior, or rogue. You can customize the way Hawke looks or you can stick with the iconic male or female Hawke. That's all you need to know for now!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I won't say much about DA2, I'd rather not spoil anything. Just brace yourself for much tragedy. It's a good game, but different from the heroic, uplifting theme of Origins.

Ill ready the tissues I do like the somber music in DA2! It does help create a mood. Again, I'd recommend going with iconic male or female Hawke. (Though I suppose if you're artistic, you could make Hawke look like you! ) Feel free to ask questions if you run into something you should know, but aren't sure of. Good luck!

Hmmm...someone correct me if I'm wrong, but not really. The look and mechanics of this game are quite different. Some of the characters from Origins who make an appearance in DA2 look dramatically different -- usually for the worse. BTW, you will get a second shot at....oh never mind, I don't want to spoil it for you! A little hint romance-wise, for one of the romanceable characters, you run into a dialog where you have the option of being serious or casual. But that's really about it. The romances weren't as nuanced as in Origins. One thing I was going to mention is that it is possible to set up DA2 to reflect the decisions you made in Origins, but I can't quite remember how it is done. I assume you'll be doing DA2 on PS3? Any Play Station people out there who remember how it works for Play Station?

(Except for the elves, unfortunately, though Merrill is an exception.) For future reference, if you play again as a rogue or warrior, your sister Bethany will be the one who survives while your brother (and archenemy) Carver ends up being ogre-bait. Regarding your companions, Merrill actually appears in the Dalish elf origin. Anders is first encountered in "Awakening," a DLC to Origins. And Isabela (one of the few characters whose looks improve in DA2) also appeared in Origins. Also, there are three important DLC available for DA2. "Legacy" introduces elements that will be the focus of the third game, Dragon Age Inquisition. the "Exiled Prince" which introduces another companion, Sebastian Vael, an archer. And "Mark of the Assassin," an adventure involving a character created by DA fan. So, did you choose a male or female Hawke?

I'm actually going to say yes. If you max a companion's friendship/rivalry bar in either direction, they are willing to do things outside of what's normal to their character for a decision that is literally the last major decision of the game. If they aren't max, they will not do what you want them to do, which is support you no matter what, and may even betray you. I feel is similar enough to Hardening to reply in the affirmative. Also. Focus on Isabella as your rogue of choice the first two acts. Without spoiling, she's slippery and you need a grip on her by end of act 2.

Oh ok that makes sense I guess so its either friendship or friendly rivalry??? Something like that, but the rivalry rather based on respect and in rivalry the companions can be angry (and of course Hawke's answers also change): For example (Fenris' reaction – first is rivalry, second is friendship) But as phoray wrote, its important, because at the end, depend Hawke's choose, the neutral companions will turn against Hawke, because s/he did not care about them. If Hawke have enough rivalry/friendship, the companions will fight in his/her side against their own convictions.

Ok thanks for the tips ill definitely keep an eye on her Bethany was the sibling you have a good relationship with; Carver not so much! Anyhow, the rivalry versus friendship scale is actually simpler than what was used for Origins. Do your actions and dialog with the various companions win their favor or not? "Hardening" in Origins was not about your favorability with a companion but about changing them -- usually from innocently idealistic to being cynically pragmatic. (In this game, you might actually be doing the opposite with Isabela.) Anyhow, talk to your companions and keep track of the scale. You may find there are certain companions you don't like anyway!
