Going to prove my noobness here. Why are my dragon rage damage numbers constantly drastically increasing if I hit the same enemy a few times with it? I've seen it go from 6000 to 7500 to 9000 in the course of three hits on a single enemy. I get that it will increase a little from my health slightly going down each time but the magnitude of the increase doesn't seem be proportional to this. Is there some innate passive on the reaver that each consecutive attack or dragon rage hurts more than the last similar to a pincushion skill? And I'm not referencing the double hit on the third dragon rage. You are accounting for the fact that the dragon rage attack sequence has a built in damage modifier for each swing, right? attack_1: ability_multiplier = 150%. Flat +1% to damage_multiplier per 1% missing health. attack_2: ability_multiplier = 150%. Flat +2% to damage_multiplier per 1% missing health. attack_3: Hits twice. ability_multiplier = 150% per strike. Flat +3% to damage_multiplier per 1% missing health. I mentioned something along those lines like a passive similar to pincushion that applied to either dragon rage attacks or the reaver in general but I wasn't sure if it was true or not. That almost certainly is what it must be then since I'm playing the low health no HoK build in which those health loss damage boosts are significant. I did know about the damage boost from health lost through the dragon rage skill but didn't know the percentages were different for each swing. Thanks Proto. Glad to see you here with your wealth of knowledge!

For the calculation: Don't forget the Heal on Hit. When I hit multiple enemies with DR I gain health instead of losing I am glad you enjoyed it Silversmurf

Okay I tried Reaver dancer axe with starter armor and only ring of pain as a skill. Got NM RT. First map was extremely easy.. not fast but easy as HP never dropped below 85%. I am not sure if Ring of Pain actually does anything? The stamina regen is about the same rate as stamina used (I think I have stamina regen passive) so unless I move out of the ring, it never stops on its own. I think my damage was around 1200 to 1800. It was slow and steady for map 1.
Map 2 I got veil fire so I ran it. And then after lighting the fire, I was surrounded by shield guys. I cannot spin more than 10 degree and got stopped and only did like 100 damage each time. I could probably last longer if I kill all the non-shield first but eventually I will have to deal with them. With only Ring of Pain there is really nothing I could do to counter the shields.

Ring of Pain is pretty much worthless without Dragon Rage. Gives a decent passive damage bonus if using Dragon Rage tho!

1. The basic (boring) build (but still recommended for players with lower stats)a: Low CunningUse Devour if you have need of health, as well as improving your crit chance for Dragon Rage. If you ask "Why no Rampage?" : it might seem to be great but with lower stats you will like the crit chance bonus from Devour, Combat Roll and Mighty Blow improve your flexibility and your chances for survival (assuming you do not have an Amulet of Physical Immunity) I used This build back in the day when i started playing. Flow of Battle and Deathblow passives are working great with War Horn and you can use Dragon Rage + Rampage combo almost all the time. I realize that I played Reaver only 27 times while my Archer and AW already passed 250. So I decided to find best build for my poor reaver yesterday, all day. I tried both builds. First one works really fine, stable, but I soon found myself keep running ahead of teammates looking for fresh alive enemies during several PuGs. So after my reaver's 3rd promotion I tried the second build. Had to give up Devour and Mighty blow when I reached some level but result was very pleasing. Didn't know playing Reaver could be so much fun like this. I just rampage, cat scratching cat scratching, war horn, rolling rolling, and again rampage, cat scratching cat scratching... Now I must look like a greedy cat.

It is good to try different play-styles imo Unless you need it for survival (because of low promotes and/or depending on the difficulty you play) I think any Reaver Build that hast both Dragon Rage and Rampage is just for softies

I was playing the Reaver without Rampage, without devour, without HoK and wearing the blue armor in perilous. I was doing ring of pain, the firewall looking thing, and mighty blow. Had DR as the 4th but didn't really use it. It was really fun and can't really die in perilous. So I got another guy joined me and he/she looks like could solo perilous easily as well. So what did I do.. up it NM.. and got darkspawns. It was not that easy when your only heal is from basic attack. We did made it to bolters and had to camp by a door. I used up both my healing pots and both rock armor pots. Made it to zone 5 and 2 others joined and it was an easy win. But right after the match, I immediately put devour back in there LOL.

I got sick of dragon rage and have just basically used devour and pommel strike most of the time, I do get Rampage but only later in the build, last few levels.
