This thread can be about either game, just not that goddamn Star Wars MMO (I had no idea about the plot of the 1st game, believe it or not. I was BLOWN away)

KOTOR 2 is possibly my favourite ever game. I loved the first one, it's what got me hooked on RPGs in the first place, but the whole philosophy and tough questions the second one asked really gripped me, even if it wasn't as typically 'Star Wars' as the first. I love the whole debate with Atris about choosing to go to war, all the mixed feelings that Bao-Dur is carrying, the way different people interpret the Force, Kreia's teachings etc. There's just so much to sink your teeth into.
I especially loved going to Dxun and seeing more of the Mandalorians. The part where you returned and split up your party for the double assault was also really fun.
Atton, Kreia, Bao-Dur and Mandalore were always my favourite characters, though it was great to get HK back and I liked the closer relationship the Exile had with T3. (If I remember correctly, Revan couldn't really understand him).
Also, I like the Exile more than Revan. Probably because she is more of an underdog, pretty broken and torn up about the things she did in the war. I think she's such an interesting character.
I could go on and on! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love KOTOR as well, the second one is just very special to me and I can play it again and again without getting bored. The TSL restoration mod is fantastic too - really helps flesh it out more, especially the ending. I wouldn't play it without it now.

the mmo is the only sequel we're likely to get. srry folks, best settle for that reality.
I liked the topics touched on, in 2. The darker side of the force, the path of the grey that krea tries to teach.

No argument. I wish it wasn't so, I really do. Trouble is, it wouldn't make much financial sense to make a third one. They simply make more money from the mmo. *sigh*

I don't know if it would be better to open a topic for this, but since there is already one for Kotor 2 I'll try to ask here.
So, I am planning to play it for the first time. Reason I waited for so long was because I have waited for TSLRMC to restore as much content as possible but now I really want to begin it. So I know everything about TSLRMC and how it's nearly mandatory to enjoy Kotor 2 but what about M4-78 mod? I've read very mixed opinions about it and while some players consider it another great addition that make the game even more similar to the hypothetical final release that Obsidian would have done there are other players who said that they should have left it dead, and that it is so bad that Obsidian would probably cut it even if they weren't in a rush to release the game.
Moreover, I have read somewhere that if tou install it then it become mandatory for main quest but I did not find any confirmation about it, so if it is really as bad as many people said I would prefer to avoid it.
TL;DR What do you suggest? TSLCRM alone or TSLRCM + M4-78? And why?

TL;DR What do you suggest? TSLCRM alone or TSLRCM + M4-78? And why? Personally, I would go with TSLRCM alone. It fixes so much and replaces a lot of cut content and really brings the game to how it was probably intended to be published. I can't speak highly enough of it and if you're using it for your first playthrough, without having experienced the game before, then that's going to be fantastic for you. As for M4-78...yeah in my opinion not worth it. Rather than cut content, it's pretty much all fan-made and created just from the barest of notes. It's not relevant to the main plot and I think the game flows much better without it. Plus it's a droid planet and that alone is very similar to the first level of the normal game, which can be a bit of a slog anyway. I don't think it has the same feel as the rest of the game and it seems obvious as a fan-made, fan-voiced project rather than something that is integral to the game. So if I were you, I'd leave it for now and you can always come back and do it another time if you really want to.

Nonstop, thanks for your input and for clarifying all my doubts about the two mods. I am going to follow your advice and start with just TSLRCM installed then!

TL;DR What do you suggest? TSLCRM alone or TSLRCM + M4-78? And why? The Restoration Mod is excellent. Much of it you wouldn't even know was modded in if you didn't know about. HIGHLY recommended. M4-78, sadly, is clearly a mod. That's not to say it isn't a GOOD mod. I think it is. Lots and of droid enemies, puzzles, a mystery to unravel. But the team clearly had a lot less to work with, and had to create their own content to fill in gaps. I will say that it doesn't become mandatory for the main quest until you do Korriban, as that's the part where it kicks in (there's a reason why the Korriban portion is so short).

What did you guys think of the soundtracks for both games? What are your favourite tracks?
'The Old Republic Theme' is really iconic for me, I always get really nostalgic when I hear it. I also love the ambient music around Taris, Dantooine/Jedi Academy and Manaan. Bastila's theme is also lovely - quite haunting and melancholic.
As for KOTOR 2, well, I've already gushed about how much I love the game and the soundtrack is no different! I think the main theme sets the more foreboding and sinister tone and we have some great tracks in there - I like the ambient 'Aboard the Ebon Hawk' especially. But the standout for me is 'Rebuilt Jedi Enclave'. It's just wonderful and complements the scene in the game so well. I think it really tugs at the heartstrings and you get the sense of rebuilding after a loss.

Judging by the curves in the armor, female Revan. The best version of Revan.

Peragus Mining Facility is one of the most atmospheric levels in a game I've seen in no small part due to the soundtrack.
