the mmo is the only sequel we're likely to get. srry folks, best settle for that reality. I liked the topics touched on, in 2. The darker side of the force, the path of the grey that krea tries to teach. The MMO has to die sometime. Personally I don't care if we ever get Kotor 3. I just want another good single player Star Wars rpg.

Last thing I want to have happen, is feel like I'm running some failing pest control business (Zero Punctuation). Or to put it another way, wonder why the world hasn't been over run with seemingly endless numbers of enemy NPC's.

The mmo is the only on running rpg SW universe we're ever going to see that has a story input every year or two. It's not great but it's not that terrible either. I'd take it than wander in the desert.

I activated my free trial of Xbox Game Pass to buy the Fallout 4 season pass at half price (it was the only way I was ever going to be able to use the UFO4 patch again.) But the super-bonus was that they added Knights of the Old Republic to the list of streamable games. I was so excited as I installed it, waiting for the whopping 4 gigs to finish downloading. Then I saw the graphics for the first time in over 15 years...

Peasants playing KotOR on consoles I am playing a new playthrough of the original KotOR, and the graphics are stunningly awesome! Of course, that's because I spent several hours installing mods. Jorak Uln's retextures bring the game to a very modern look, even if your PC looks low-poly compared to everything else. Seriously though, upgrade the planet textures and the weapons, and you have a pretty good looking game. In that regard, it has aged well

It seems to be a fully alive fan remake of KOTOR. Yes. Fully. Alive. And progressing.

It is both awesome and terrible, unfortunately, unless there is A LOT going on behind the scenes that they have never told us about. What you have with Apeiron is a modding dream. They have done great things with art assets, and that is it... Really, they could have got that done once they had a working game. Assets do not make a game, code does. They are working with UE4, which means a complete re-write of, well, everything. Sure, the engine itself has a toolset, but they have a ton of actual scripting to do, a ton of dialogue to cut and paste, and then make it all work, and then include all those beautiful level assets, character assets, etc. I am not saying that the art assets aren't an important part - they are! They are half of the game. The easier half.

Meh, never really liked TSL even with the contend restoration mod much prefer KotOR 1 And not wanting to state the obvious but isn't there a KotOR thread in the Bioware games section? Why do we need a second thread?

Never been to any KOTOR based forums, so I wouldn't know you from elsewhere. Still, bad news, you bring to me, Master Qui-Gon... well, TSLRP was the grand mod that was to fix all the bugs of TSL (KotOR2), as well as restore almost all of the cut content that had been found on the game disc. I was a long time member of that forum, and was a beta tester for the mod before it was shut down. TSLRCM ultimately restored that content and fixed most of the bugs; it is really a fine effort of collaboration led by zybl2 and started by an old friend, DarthStoney. Stoney was the original restorer of the M4-78 Droid Planet, which I was the beta tester on as well. The TSLRP forums closed maybe early 2010, after starting in 2005. It was a wild ride. If you weren't aware, many people came to the BioWare forums because of TSL, even though it was an Obsidian game. The reason was simple: the NWN Lexicon, and the enormous NWN modding community that could help inform us about the Aurora engine, which the KotOR Odyssey engine was based on. The scripting language (nwscript) remained the same. I know I've told this story before, sorry if I bored anybody.

And not wanting to state the obvious but isn't there a KotOR thread in the Bioware games section? Why do we need a second thread? My guess is because KotOR2 is not a Bioware game. Either way this thread is like two years old and was necroed for some reason. It is both awesome and terrible, unfortunately, unless there is A LOT going on behind the scenes that they have never told us about. They (the Apeiron team) have a few developers talking about progress with actual code in their Discord fairly often, and some of them do occasional livestreams on Twitch showing what they're working on. I'm not saying the project won't wind up being vaporware in the future, but for the time being things seem to be progressing.

So, in short, you helped with testing on TSLRCM's predecessor.
When the forums for that got shut down, a mass of people went to BSN because that's where the modding knowledge was.
That actually makes sense.
One way or the other, I'll keep things in my thoughts. Who knows, maybe this one'll make it. No point getting hopes too high, but at the same time, it doesn't quite deserve being left for dead, either.

Thinking about playing K1 off google play. Y'all think I should go good, or evil?
Also, never did a run where I didn't use a light saber before, so I'm seriously considering trying to do a blaster wielding jedi.

Also, never did a run where I didn't use a light saber before, so I'm seriously considering trying to do a blaster wielding jedi. Until recently i would've said lightside, because there is a scenario that plays out with a certain Wookie and his Twilek friend. That made me restart the game the first time I played DS. But recently I found a mod that changes that scenario and am going to play darkside for the first time since my first PT all those years ago. Also another reason why I always preferred the light over the dark is the LS ending. I like it better.

Light side tends to be my default. Though I'd love roleplaying a neutral or dark side Revan, though the dark side choices in game tend to lean toward stupid evil imo.

That's another reason why I tend to play LS over DS. Revan should be a master manipulator not some common thug. That is another reason why I prefer KOTOR 2 over the original. Obsidian made the DS choices better imo.

The writing and world-building in TSL was really good, however I prefer the upbeat and almost whimsical atmosphere of the original KOTOR, which is why I am conflicted when it comes to comparing the two.
