The game is awesome and it's probably going to be my favourite game of 2018. BUT, hearing what Avellone said about Obsidian just before release makes me pretty sad. I'm keeping an open mind about things, but I had hoped Obsidian was better than that. Compilation of everything Avellone said below for those that missed it. docs.google.com/document/d/1CDN-5QjGGKnQa4Bycmtn3AVtb-c9UfSqPmYQhzHlaVI/edit

I start the game already and I play by import save. Still play as Priest (Berath) plus new class Wizard. The Fact I heard (so far) about romance is disappoint me because all of available companion is bisexual BUT my number one, Elder is not among them and even have someone else in mind. Doesn't really surprise me. Romances were part of a stretch goal, and so not exactly baked into the game from the start. They allow me Male Wacher to have that conversation just to make me say that he can't with me.... but maybe another life. Why Knight type can't be gay/bi? (Both Eder and pallegina) I used to hope that Obsidian will not be like Bioware. But I am wrong. Beside the dissapointment in romance stuff, I enjoy the game for most part. But sometime I just miss Cinematic cutscene .

Is anyone else having trouble with Aloth's quest? I haven't found anything for the Leaden Key beside a painted pole and a mosaic. Apparently you're supposed to read the ranga's soul but there's no dialogue option for it nor do I want to kill her on the off chance that the soul ball will appear to read.

She brushes me off when I ask about them, the only question she'll really answer is about the merchant ship. I already cleared out the slavers as well.

Hm, odd. She brushed me off too, but it triggered a soul reading. I did this after the Huana prince told me to meet the ranga on their behalf, so maybe that could be something?

I finished the game and i enjoyed it very much. I liked the characters and the story and though i wasn`t so sure about multiclassing i ended up having a lot of fun playing my Beastmaster (Ranger+Druid). Now that they patched the importing bug i`ll just start a new playthrough with one of my canon watchers and try different choices. And here`s some pictures of my Watcher and of my favorite pet in the game .

Now that they patched the importing bug They haven't fixed companion's flag, they just slowed down disposition gain and fixed early save issues. The early June patch should be better. Also, nice Captain Watcher.

Today I learned that the level of the quest doesn't necessarily tell you the level of the enemies you're likely to face on that quest.
To avoid spoilers, I'll just say that in my journal, the quest was only one level higher than me, but I ended up fighting (and dying) to a Giant Cave Grub AT LEAST four levels higher than me. I put up a hell of a fight, but it still got me. May have to leave that one for later...

The grub is stationary, so you can have Maia stand just outside the room (and it’s range) and hit it with impunity.

That grub isn't that hard. It's has a weakness to intellect affliction, that means it turn confused into charmed and charmed into dominated. You don't even have to kill it.

I cheated on that one. The grub is stationary, so you can have Maia stand just outside the room (and it’s range) and hit it with impunity. I may have to do that. That's what I did after discovering the hp doesn't reset that fast after I dragged the survivors back and forth in a few attempts.

Yeah, I ended up cheesing my way through that fight.
Made easier by also taking out that nest in the back to keep adds from spawning.
Also found I had to keep Serefen stealthed in the room to play spotter so Maia could see it.

So I got a few questions yeah? I played the previous game but did not keep the save file, also kind of ignored the pre-defined party members and created my own rag tag band of ass kickers and psychopaths, just wondering how much of this game references what you did in the previous game and how much of it involves the party members I kicked to the curb and ignored? Is it a good idea to re-play through Pillars 1 to refresh my memory on the story (and how important is the DLC in the first game) or can I go ahead and dive right in and enjoy the game without necessarily knowing what happened in the first game?
ALSO what is the dealio with level scaling being an "option"? Either a game is balanced with level scaling in mind or it isn't and while I do think level scaling is a god awful abomination that should be blasted out of the ass of whoever thought it would be a good idea to do it I do have to wonder is it better to have level scaling enabled in this game or is the game balanced perfectly fine to play without it? Are items level scaled?

Are items level scaled? You can make a legacy that has all the returning companions dead so they won't appear in the game or pick the Everything Bad preset. Saying that, there are references through the game about stuff you technically did or didn't do in POE1, so I suggest making a custom legacy in the options to at least know what to expect. Items are not level scaled (most is hand placed anyway). The point behind the level scaling is that if you do everything, you'll reach level 20 long before you are done with all the content, so people who like challenge wanted level scaling. But currently, level scaling just do like -2/+2 base level (i.e. a level 8 creature min at 6 and max at 10).

Are items level scaled? You can create your own worldstate without importing a game. You can choose from one of several presets or fill out your own. Aloth, Eder, and Palegina are returning companions, but not if they are dead, of course. About the only important detail from Pillars 1 that you need to know seems to be "You were the lord of Cad Nua before it got rekt by Eothas" Most everything else seems to be cameos and stuff like you'd see in a Mass Effect or Dragon Age game. The game does use the embedded text thing from Tyranny to give you quick info dumps on terms and events without breaking the flow of conversation. I don't know about the deal with level scaling. I just kept it at its default setting.

Uhh...Pallegina joins my party and I talk to her ONCE, quite literally right after she joins my party, and once the convo is finished Xoti starts going off on her, "I can't take it anymore!" etc.
Bug? I get that they have opposing views on religion, but that confrontation seems like something that shouldn't happen until they've spent hours and hours together in the active party.

I think I've been too effective at Xoti's personal mission. It appears to have outpaced the main storyline and I think I got spoiled on Eothas's plan...
