Brief explanation: I've had this idea for a thread awhile. Simple straightforward questions, which do have an answer (no philosophical blabberscramble here), but where the answer is not exactly close at hand . Rules: Try to answer a posted question. Or post a question.

I'll start:
(7 + (50)^(1/2))^(1/3) + (7 - (50)^(1/2))^(1/3) = ? (we want a real)

Why would someone shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane? two possible reasons: 1. They got a personal vendetta so they want to make sure the bastard suffer before tossing him out. 2. It looks pretty badass.

Why would someone shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane? People have survived falls from planes, I'd do the same thing if I wanted to kill someone on a plane ride. However, in order to survive both you would need to roll a natural 20 something like 20 times in a row.. With small caliber handguns its entirely possible, according to statistics 60% of the people who got shot in the head by a service caliber handgun (9x19, .40S&W, .45) survived. Service pistols have very low power because of the low bullet velocity. They just poke relatively clean holes. With a rifle or shotgun though, meat salad.

Why would someone shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane? Well there was some answers to this already but purely personal analytical thought; as depending of the situation it would most likely be hard for me to throw a man out of plane.. Broken hurting ouchy from gun shot man ups my changes a lot though Besides all kinds of cunts seem to survive from devastating odds in general so making it more sure is never a bad plan So here's something I remember hearing: How important does someone need to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

How important does someone need to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered? Don't think it's a matter of import of target; it's the method of murder/murderer. An assassination involves an assassin, a contract, belief, or reason beyond what murder entails. *** Also everyone answering the "Why would someone shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane?" is a reference to the movie The Dark Knight Rises. I posted the relevant scene a few posts above.

I think I know the answer to both (thats right I know stuff ) Why are there 7 days in a week? Babylonians iirc, and the moon... the moon takes around 28 days to complete a cycle and had 4 main phases. 28÷4=7 Why are there 60 minutes in an hour? Babylonians... again. Blame them and their math

I think I know the answer to both (thats right I know stuff ) Why are there 7 days in a week? Babylonians iirc, and the moon... the moon takes around 28 days to complete a cycle and had 4 main phases. 28÷4=7 Maybe so. But the moon does not have 4 exactly main phases. And the opinion of how many phases the moon has, varies greatly with different cultures. So why could it not be that the moon was considered to have 4 intermediate phases because 28/7 = 4 ? I dunno. The thing is that the number seven was a big thing with prehistoric and ancient people all over the world. The reasons why are obscure, but it coincides with many things. There are seven metals occurring naturally which were known already by prehistoric man. There are seven visible moving objects in the sky,.. The 'tradition' has continued to our times, 'the seven seas', 'seven sins', 'seven wonders', etc.

Why are there 60 minutes in an hour? Babylonians... again. Blame them and their math Yes. The Babylonian Sexagesimal positional system was the only numbering system that could be used for rational calculations and representing big and small numbers (before the Indian decimal positional system). It was used by the Greeks and other smart people, even if they used their own alphabet coupled numerals. And that is also why there are 360 degrees round the circle.

And now for the really hard question: Why are there 24 hours in a day? because some other ancient culture was into base 12 maths and they predated the Babylonians so they picked that you had midday and midnight the Babylonians worked out the smaller units but chose to stick with the same calendar of 12 months despite reordering other things to make them more easily understood.... the romans stole all these ideas coupled them together with base 10 maths and pushed it all out to the commoners as a religion and so their multiculturalism has lasted far longer than the people of Rome and its empires did, thus we have hours minutes seconds then we change to base 10 maths for mili seconds and below (because the romans gave us that) yet we kept the bits from the other cultures because it made it easier to get the common folk to believe in the new order when most of it was just changing the name of the old order..... why did the legend of king Arthur and his ability to hold off the roman empire for 200 years with the aid of the wizard until treachery tore apart his kingdom so he tossed his sword into the lake and departed to another realm with merlin and the last few loyal nights of the round table predate the Normans and the Norse raiders yet a man who was apparently his son was fabled to have died at the battle of Hastings some 1200 years later ?
