Which one of these HDDs would be the best replacement for my 1.5 TB Seagate HDD (gotten 2010)? Better buy a new HDD sooner and make the old one retire instead of mourning on its death. Note: I'm not rich enough to get high capacity SSDs.

I found something good. It seems the Japanese HDDs are the good ones and Seagate is crap unless you're getting 4 TB or bigger. WD is alright, but I have burnt a green one already (the blue, black and red ones are OK).

It seems the Japanese HDDs are the good ones and Seagate is crap unless you're getting 4 TB or bigger. WD is alright, but I have burnt a green one already (the blue, black and red ones are OK). Do you need 2 TB? I've gotten by on 1 or less internals, just fine. I would recommend a mechanical drive for data retrieval and storage, when speed isn't a consideration. If you need speed, then SSD's are the best way to go. That said, I do have a 4TB external that's over halfway full atm. But that just has data, I don't need or use regularly. If your set on a mechanical drive, then I'd recommend the WD drive. I've worked in positions where I had to do hardware replacements. WD is, statistically, the most reliable. I've had bad ones, sure. But they were few and far between. And WD tended to replace them pretty easily, though this was a business environment. That might or might not matter. In my personal machines, I've never had a WD fail on me. And your right, you might save a bit with a Seagate drive. But there's a reason for that savings. They tend not to have the greatest life span. I don't know enough about Toshiba's drives, to give a good recommendation. So that just leaves the WD drive.

Why are Dinosaurs classified as Reptiles? I'm guessing that ideally you would classify different Dinos under different categories? (i.e. birds, reptiles, etc?) There was a suggestion to unite Birds and Dinosaurs, in a new single class as 'Dinoaves', since they are essentially the same kind of animals. It's just that only Dinosaurs able to fly, survived the last extinction period. ...And were eventually called "Birds", forming the class Aves. Similarly, a number of other old animals would be 'upgraded' to Mammals. It doesn't solve all things. There are still Pterosaurs and Ichthyosaurs which would not fit any existing class, as defined earlier.

I'm not overly fond of asymmetrical hairstyles. Also, if you use koolaid as a hair colour, it attracts flies and makes your hair brittle.

Well, a couple of months ago, I encountered a good explanation for why we have 24 hours a day. Unfortunately I can't remember.
Likewise I've encountered information about cultures that didn't have a 7 day week. Again I can't remember but I suspect it was the ancient Egyptians that had a 10 day week (or was it 9?).
And I also had a new question for this thread. Unfortunately I've forgotten what. As you can see, I've forgotten a lot. I went to the art store today to buy Light Yellow Ochre. I came home with Burnt Umber, Cerulean Blue and Phthalo Blue GS. I wonder when I should start worrying about this? But I can't figure what I could possibly do about it.

Why can't I find a girlfriend? One that know American Sign Language and loves to play golf. I'm sorry if I'm being inconsiderate, but why does she have to know sign? Morning, Rewind. I don't mind the question at all, it's a good one and I would be happy to answer. She wouldn't HAVE to know ASL, but it would be amazing if she did. I don't know or see a lot of people that know ASL, so to find someone-- even a stranger on the street, or a server at Tim Horton's or McDonald's who knows ASL even a little bit is a rare find, because it is not a commonly learned language like French, Spanish, German etc. It would be a common interest....and because I am Hard of Hearing, know Sign Language and there are very often times when I greatly prefer to communicate through ASL than speaking English...so it would make communication between us much easier. Plus, ASL is just really cool. It's a beautiful language. But the most basic yet truthful answer would simply be because it is a shared common interest, something that we could bond over. Everybody likes to be with someone whom they can share at least some commonly held interests or passions with. American Sign Language and Deaf culture are some of mine, have been ever since I was 2 years old.

Okay, I was curious because you have been posting in the music thread and then I read this and was like hmmm.. Well, I've been married since forever, so my dating advice may be tad rusty, but I definitely recommend concentrating on knowing sign and forgetting golf. Communication in a relationship is so important that everything comes second after that. And separate hobbies may actually be a good thing; you are both going to need some alone time as well.

No worries, I didn't mind the question at all. I don't often listen to music-- I had a great stereo system with custom made 10 inch speakers....Old ones from the 70s in the wood/particleboard cabinets, but I don't have it connected anymore because of our nextdoor neighbour; she would always pound on the wall at the slightest sound. Plus with my hearing loss that I have been diagnosed with coming up to 2 years ago...I now have to turn it up quite loudly to hear it these days...even when I play music on my PC from my desktop speakers. Yet it constantly sounds distorted because of the constant high-pitched pure tone type of rining in my ears. The ringing is constant and continuous. It never stops, the pattern may change at times....But I always have ringing in my ears, and I was never one as a teenager to crank up music on my headphones full-blast, or go to loud raves and parties. But because of this, yes I still the odd time listen to and enjoy music (which is why I have been posting in the Music Thread) but I don't listen to music anywhere nearly as often as I did when I was younger. Forget about golf? Never! Meeting a girl who enjoys playing golf as much as I do would be great. But I do agree that I should focus a lot more on my ASL.

I had a pair of those too, wood cabinets size of a small fridge. They sure were loud but not very neighbour friendly, I admit. The irony is, now that we live in a house I don't blast so loud anymore.
Sorry to hear about the ringing in the ears, and I'm not just being polite. I have personal experience about tinnitus ( a firearms mishap on the range; a story for an other time perhaps ). My right ear used to ring for a decade or so, until it inexplicably went away. It is the worst.

Unfortunately, I've been told that with my diagnosis of Meniere's Disease I can expect my hearing loss to eventually become permanent. It may take five years, it may take 15 years...But the disease is such that the vast majority (around 80%) of people experience permanent hearing loss. SO, it's a good thing that I am at least moderately fluent in American Sign Language, eh? LOL. (I'm glad that someone I talk to has some personal experience....because most people look at me like I'm from some distant galaxy when I try to explain my symptoms and experiences). Anywho, take care Rewind and we'll chat again soon! Have a great day!

Groening revealed in an interview back in 2007 that an animator came up with the idea of yellow. He said that he wanted his cartoon to be eye-catching. When someone is flipping through channels, he wanted the bright yellow colour of the Simpsons to catch the eye and make them go back to watch it.
