I felt that Skyhold was just Party Camp 2.0. There needs to be a lot more customization and opportunities for you to actually use it, so they just don't feel like esthetic pieces.

I'd rather a camp because its smaller and more convenient to talk to people, which is the main purpose of the camp. I saw someone on another forum talking about how they forgot that Vivienne was even in the game, because they couldn't find her hidden in Skyhold.
Also, I miss the whole "wandering band of adventurers" thing.

Skyhold was pretty and all but it was just too big and it basically served no purpose in the end. Upgrades are just for aesthetics and you can't even rebuild it entirely. As much as I like to customize my own "home", I much prefer the simplicity of a camp. At least I don't have to run for 5 minutes until I reach a companion so I can talk to them.
If not a camp, then I'd love a ship as a base or some secret hideout (if it makes sense for the story, which I'm hoping it does because pirates and spies!). Something more cozy and personal for sure.

I wouldn't be shocked if the PC starts out completely independent of the Inquisition, but gets pulled into the conflict with Solas. (Assuming, of course, the next Dragon Age game isn't a complete abandonment of the Solas storyline. Dragon Age Kart Racing, for example.) Dragon Age Nug Herding. I wanted to tell companions as well as people on the nexus to FO in MEA but was never allowed to, so I wouldn't expect it in DA4 either.

I don't care what I get in DA4. Boat. Camp. Castle. I just want to be able to customize it. A lot. Like I want to choose the color of my drapes/tent flaps a lot. Asa general rule, if it has a lot of customization, I'll be happy.

I expected much more from Skyhold than what we got.

I liked Skyhold, but I also liked the camp from DAO. I probably would want something different just to keep things fresh. Also Skyhold made sense for someone like the Inquisitor, but probably not for most protagonists.

I would love a smaller, more personable Skyhold kind of situation. A fixer-upper manor in Minrathous or something. I'm not opposed to a boat-base, everyone seems to be doing it recently anyway. I agree. a fixer-upper no boat. I would like to furnish and expand, clean up and allocate.

A base of operations would be nice.
Maybe not skyhold, but maybe a guild house or bar or something like that.

But other than that Skyhold may have not have a Guild but they did have a bar and the protagonist did say he/she wanted to keep it as their own, heck why move out unless you were forced to. OH! by the way welcome back haven't seen you post in awhile

I hope we have one that reflects our player character. Abandoned mage tower for mages, underground tavern for rogues and old arena for warriors.

I loved Skyhold, but something either smaller or more..."active" would be great. I'd like to have a few secondary mission in the place were we live. I was always waiting for some kind of little adventure between the Skyhold walls, be it an acient defensive machinery to stop, a wall breaking during reparations revealing a home for giant spiders, stuff like that. Instead nothing ever really happened autside character dialogue.
A tavern would be nice as base. Even better if we get some minigames. I'd love to try wicked grace.

If there is even going to be one, I feel that it should, at most, consist of 3-4 rooms.
Skyhold was just a massive waste of space.

Speaking of a waste of space.....why, in all that is holy to the Maker, was it never properly repaired? Cullen's room above his office still has holes in its ceiling, there's a gaping hole in the wall by the war room, the prison is in structural disarray, and most of the towers outside of the main keep still have rubbish in them. I expected most of that stuff to be cleaned up the more I progressed through the game a, but nope. It just stayed that way.

I hope we have one that reflects our player character. Abandoned mage tower for mages, underground tavern for rogues and old arena for warriors. Now that would be a nice callback to Baldurs Gate 2. Each HQ even had its own situations you had to deal with, so a fighter became lord of the manor with its associated problems, the mage tower had you responsible for training a group of apprentices, the bard had their own theatre and became producer of their own play and the thief had their own guild. Each of these could provide an additional income or items provided you made the right choices but could also end with disastrous consequences, particularly when it came to the training of the apprentices. If we have a fixed base, like Skyhold, then I would prefer something like this so what you do with the base and the resources you put in means something. I only spent the endless hours collecting elfroot and whatever to upgrade Skyhold because I thought it would be important to the ultimate survival of my companions, like Vigil's Keep in DAA or the Normandy in Mass Effect 2. Then it turned out it was merely cosmetic. Imagine how much more interesting that final battle with Corypheus would have been if instead of raising the old site of the ashes skyward, he did that to Skyhold, or alternatively whilst you were rushing to the Temple site, his dragon was knocking hell out of Skyhold (the results of which you would then discover after the battle). You didn't fix the roof over the gatehouse? Oh dear, Cullen is dead. You didn't upgrade the mage tower/templar barracks? You've less mage/Templar troops to fight hordes of demons pouring from the new Breach. Did you strengthen the foundations to the Rotunda? No! Then when the dragon slams into it everyone inside is buried under rubble, except Solas of course because he's slippery like that. You get the general idea.

Then it turned out it was merely cosmetic. Same here. I fully expected Corypheus and his pet to come to Skyhold for a final (possibly glitchy) large scale battle and always wondered why I couldn't get a chance to recruit more archers.
