Looked at it, didn't think it'd offer more than "Uplink" and thus didn't look any further into. Uplink is kinda OK, nice but limited soundtrack. Limited gameplay and short story. Does capture quite an atmo though.

Looked at it, didn't think it'd offer more than "Uplink" and thus didn't look any further into. Uplink is kinda OK, nice but limited soundtrack. Limited gameplay and short story. Does capture quite an atmo though. I've never heard of Uplink. Similar concept to hacknet?

In uplink you basically load your programs you need for the job, do some planning, activate them as you conduct the run and type a little here and there. More programs, slower cpu so you need upgrade at some point, take riskier missions and so on. The variety of those isn't really top cream and after a while stuff is explored and repeats. Hacking a network from the "inside" is the most variety.

Hacking a network from the "inside" is the most variety. Yea, one of the biggest selling points of hacknet, is using actual linux/unix commands to play the game. You don't just activate programs (though that is in there), and let them do all the work. All this said, I've never actually played the game yet. I keep meaning to, but every time I install it, something else catches my eye. Then I just wind up removing it to save disc space.
