I'll be happy if Anthem posts a solid profit and updates/refreshes self solidly 6 months after release. Loud and disgruntled is a given.

Doesn't matter how D2 is doing the now if Anthem is rubbish or lacking content, anyone remember swtor launch when it was basically a wow clone in a sw skin with none of the endgame?, if Anthen launches with lack of activities/features for endgame ppl will dump the game an go back to D2 cause by then D2's TTK dlc will either be released or close to it an TTK for D1 was the dlc that turned destiny into the destiny players had been waiting for an regardless what ppl say the now if the same dlc does same for D2 ppl will flock back
Destiny's failures, for me, only mean there may be more ppl willing to give Anthem a try when released but in all honesty i believe Bungie could an would get them players back more easily than BioWare could retain them

It might have been a slow starter, but after improving the game it drew its audience and probably is still a solid performer for its age.

No saying it wasn't, heck when i had my pc i played the game alot an maxed out every class etc etc in other words i liked it regardless what anyone else thought, my point is it doesn't matter how Destiny is doing Anthem will either succeed or not itself an i dont think "fixing" it 2,3 or 4 years after launch will do anyone any favours, Anthem needs to come out the gate good, 2 year after it released, if released in 2018,if not sooner you will prob see the likes of Destiny 3, Division 2 an i wouldn't be surprised to see more games released in this hybrid genre by then aswell so, for me, it needs a solid launch regardless of any game thats out

2017 is full of failures and Destiny 2 turned out to be just one of them. Destiny 2 lacks the variety of interesting and rewarding end-game content that Destiny 1 had. It is otherwise a decent or good game - and even a benchmark in some aspects, such as its pristine PC port. Yet, having little to offer for players who have already invested hundreds of hours and want more is what it takes to be considered a 'failure'? In any case, it is worth mentioning that Destiny 1 was also pretty disappointing at launch and got better with time, particularly after its last DLC released 2 years after the main game, which itself was supported for 3 years until the release of Destiny 2. For comparison, Bioware's last game was declared dead 5 months old. I can't really understand how the second best-selling game of 2017 can be considered a failure alongside Andromeda and Battlefront II, as if they all had failed equally. Nevertheless, two of these games are EA games and thus what we actually should take into consideration when we speculate about Anthem. I get what you are saying. Calling D2 a blanket "failure" isn't right. But it's also misleading to say "second best-selling game of 2017" and stop there, without talking about the Curse of Osiris "expansion" debacle, putting raids behind a paywall, not carrying over the improvements from D1, the whole XP capping controversy, and last but not least, the Eververse rebellion. Online player population level is a valid metric for success too, and that's been on a steep decline. The way I like to short-hand it is that D2 was a great launch that was then fucked over by greed and stupidity with the release of the Curse of Osiris. It's not a total failure as a game, but neither is it an unalloyed success.
