And yes, it's a really difficult balance to get right. Why? Is it so hard, because it is a bad idea? I think so. Your analogy is entertaining and a total failure. Hmmm, poisonous fruit, but it looks delicious. But I know it's poisoned... But these other fruit from the same tree must be good to eat, right? You are apologizing for MT in a full priced game. That's pretty terrible man.

You are apologizing for MT in a full priced game. That's pretty terrible man. ME3 was a full priced game with loot boxes that worked well enough. I'm not advocating microtransactions, but I am suggesting that we apply a little nuance to a complex subject.

I'm not advocating microtransactions, but I am suggesting that we apply a little nuance to a complex subject. It dint have lootshit for the SP and the gameplay was its own reward. Other than that I've seen a tendency to grindify the MP gameplay in order to promote lootshit sales from Bioware. Aka: Tying the damage output of character powers to items (DAI), bloating up the lootpool to ridiculous levels in MEA and providing only shit powers and pea shooters to starters.

I'm not advocating microtransactions, but I am suggesting that we apply a little nuance to a complex subject. Well, I appreciate that, but I think you are trying to nuance an uncomplicated situation. ME3 SP was untouched by LB nonsense. You could buy a weapon DLC (which is not far different, but at least is not RNG), but Shepard had plenty of weapons from vanilla campaign to be just fine without the Chakram Launcher. When the loot boxes are incorporated as a part of the game system and then things are balanced around that, you have a broken game that is trying to keep you paying and playing by dangling a carrot. See BF2. This is essentially a slot machine that takes your real money and gives you nothing tangible in return. There is no nuance necessary there. They are trying to fuck me, and I am not in the mood.
