For the main thrust of this though, I think 7 years for a new IP is fine. Its sequels where much of the decisions are already handled where I expect them more in the 3-5 range.

As BioWare would seek to avoid another difficult launch, seems wise to double down on Anthem first. If that means DA4's story has had more polish, that might also be no bad thing.

It's too much.Nowadays things change a lot and faster, and in 7 years many things can happen. If I think at the poke`mon brand,in 7 years they make 7 and more games, each sold more than Bioware games.

If only Dragon Age writers weren't busy by Anthem... If Dragon Age writers are also on the Anthem project (a project viewed by some as one bereft of story content) that would be even more of a good thing, though I suspect there are probably enough writers on Anthem and it's mostly technical development / design / animation / QA resource that are being borrowed. I may be wrong.

Considering there's going to be about 7 years (possibly 6) between DA:3 and DA:4 As a general rule I'd say its too long. Not a problem with the development too long but a problem with marketing too long as people start to stop to give a crap. Super fans still care but that can't be your entire market. Development wise I'd say it was too long if they were working on it for 7 years, but I expect with anthem and Mass effect in between they probably have a year or so of work into dragon age. Adding another IP is great for their creative needs or whatever but manpower wise I'm not sure they are built for juggling 3 main IPS.
