If you have played destiny, division, and diablo during the vanilla days, I imagine you would also be pleasantly surprised at how much fun You are having and probably pretty excited to see Anthem evolve because you were there when Division had no end game, Diablo was just broken, and destiny gave you blue items for purple engrams that took forever to farm (loot cave anyone??) Oh you'd better be talking about vanilla Diablo 3 (abomination to end all abominations) and not the original vanilla Diablo.

So I'm really debating of I should give this game a try. Thoughts? I'd mostly do Solo parts. I think the game generally is best in Group BUT some story parts may work better solo if you like to ponder the puzzles. Anyway if on PC I can assisst you with the killing but not rush the story and puzzles. Sort of like a Sidekick. It is a somewhat different game but still very BioWare.

So I'm really debating of I should give this game a try. Thoughts? I'd mostly do Solo parts. The game is perfectly soloable. To do all story missions (main and side) it should last you at least 30 hours if you do it at a leisurly place. A lot more if you: - read lore - like to explore the main world (not that this is alwys Multi, but they ar enot really in a party with you, so they're just faceless strangers and you may treat them as such.
It's more the elder game (after finishing all quests) that requires multiplayer, which exists of mostly (for now...) legendary contracts and strongholds.
In fact, my advice is to solo the whole game until you reach elder. You'll learn a lot and it is a lot more chill pace, plenty more enjoyable.

^^^^ What he said.
I've soloed the story content so far, did freeplay to get items for continued story progression, did the strongholds a few times in pugs and did a couple of "help a fellow freelancer" missions, which are "quick play" or something of that nature in pugs.
But the story … solo (private) and about ready to start the final elements leading to story completion and the final boss. So far, 43+ hours in, with focus on story.
But … I am focused on the story and spending time with various NPCs in Ft Tarsis. Also, if you do solo … unless you select easy … the story missions take a lot longer. A couple can be tedious when solo, but thankfully, they are relatively few in number.

So I'm really debating of I should give this game a try. Thoughts? I'd mostly do Solo parts. I personally suggest waiting for a sale. After the story missions all you'll have is the end game, which is acquiring the best gear in the game. But in anthem the loot chasing seems like number chasing essentially. There's really no unique items; all weapons look the same, more or less. Ultimately it's your decision. But I think in a few months there will be a drop in price and the game will have more content. That is a win win for you.

That is very true. I am more than 40 hours in the game now (level 18) and there is still more to come since i do all of the above plus i enjoy flying in freeplay and discovering lore from locations, people, events etcetera.

A couple can be tedious when solo, but thankfully, they are relatively few in number. This is good to know.. the 'solo on easy is perfectly doable' thing. I was considering making a new pilot and just doing most, if not as much as possible (aside from the strongholds, and eventually quickplay requirements for the champion thing, if they ever fix quickplay) I have a feeling it will be a totally different experience than my previous runthrough. A question though. When you solo it, be it on normal or easy, do you have help from NPC's? Or is it just that the enemies are scaled down to be fairly easy kills?

I did most of my solo stuff on either normal or hard. From the demos … even though the level of difficulty changed in the released version, I found that I could do about everything on hard, once I got to level 15, with the requisite gear and weapons. Until then, I stuck with normal.
In the release, because I had some practice with the demo, I could go with hard by level 10. The exceptions were a few of the fights that were just outright tedious … thankfully those were very limited in number … where I dialed it back to normal. For one of them, I also switched lancers … but that was more a function of not knowing how to set wind wall properly (I figured that out the next mission) rather than the character being incompatible with the mission.
As for story progression, the Tombs mission has a lot of stuff to do … which mostly occurs naturally, as a result of running the story … but it does require some free play and in the case of melee, I switched from the Storm to the Ranger to do that portion. Ranger melee is fun, especially if you have the right gear. At that point, I had not unlocked the Interceptor, so that javelin was not an option.
There are a couple of story missions where you have "help" from an NPC … but not really. I don't want to spoil the story (you referred to this as a subsequent play through … however just to be safe), but in a couple of cases they are "detained" and don't get to the fight until it's over. In other cases, they create opportunities to get revive achievements. In most cases, you are solo with no NPCs to help out. This is what I think is a missed opportunity for BioWare … could have made a lot of folks happy, if NPCs could be added to "private" story missions. But I guess the technical issues could not be overcome in a satisfactory manner.

So I'm really debating of I should give this game a try. Thoughts? I'd mostly do Solo parts. I play solo and it rocks! It's definitely a challenge on hard, because the amount of enemies is probably designed for a group and some bosses are bullet sponges, but it's a good challenge. Very satisfying to figure the opposition out. The world map is also great. They did a good job of creating a world that feels dangerous. You can find lots of great caves/dungeons/etc. in freeplay. Will keep playing alone until I have finished the current main story, but then probably visit some tougher freeplay spots with others. BTW: Flying is fantastic. I'm 25 hours in and have to say it's fun and getting addictive. Despite the backlash there is a good core to build on. The problems I see are more in the multiplayer design choices. Key words: transporting to mission area, quickplay, respawn points, respawn loading times, no map marker, to name a few.

I've played all the AC series and so far Odyssey is my favorite. I'm taking my time on it and probably about 1/3 through. So much goodness and something most other AAA game devs should experience, if for anything, to understand "how" a game should be put together.

Key words: transporting to mission area, quickplay, respawn points, respawn loading times, no map marker, to name a few. I'll echo what Traks said. I also mostly play solo but most of the missions require you to go into matchmaking. So far there's plenty of people to pull from and the game does it quickly. The only annoying part is most people want to rush through missions to the point where I'm always being pulled to them. I like to explore and take my time but it seems I'm in the minority with that play style. To me the biggest draw for this game are the powers you have. I play in the Storm right now and I draw from the elements to kill things. Lightning, fire, ice, etc. The 2 skills I have can be recharged quickly and re-used. You have a main skill, super power, that recharges seriously slowly, but unleashes some serious hell for 10-15 seconds. The gunplay is also good, but to me it takes a backseat to your powers. Now if they could fix the endless load screens, screen tearing and abrupt mission and cut scene endings, it would be even better.

Finished the critical path with some faction quests remaining.
70 hours played in playthrough. 50 hours in Alpha, Demo and early access (different pilot).
Still plenty to do, very happy with it.

Here's a positive review, poor guy getting destroyed in the comments though It was predictable, Anthem causes a lot of controversy, huge amount of people is under the influence of toxic and "honest" opinions of "absolutely not looking for attention" critics and also the fact that internet is for everyone an ideal Ring of Gyges, makes this type of videos easy targets to attack. It is ok if someone is leaving constructive criticism behind, but there are lots of people who just likes to leave comment like "Is this a out-of-season April fools joke?" etc. Personally I like Anthem and I agree with this guy in most of his statements. Everyone has its own preferences. We are only humans afterall

Are they all full of shit or only the ones that give it a negative review. Again, this is a legitimate question I'd like you to answer.
