I actually have Gears 4 on PC, although on the Microsoft Store, I played a bit of the MP, was fun, but too grindy and just ended up moving on. As for Gears 5, that ain't happening. Too expensive around these parts.

I subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass on PC (which is super cheap for the first three months) and just played through Gears of War 4. I did run into a lot of technical issues in pre-rendered cutscenes, though. They hiccup at the start, then sometimes crash the game at the end of the scene, so I hope they sorted that out with Gears 5.
I had never played a Gears game before, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I enjoyed it very much. One thing that I found a bit odd is that you play as J.D., who I thought was very bland. Kait is a much more interesting character, so I'm glad we're playing as her in Gears 5.

The 1070 was saving my butt, I had 8gb of ram and an i5 3570k, still was getting average 80 fps on pseudo ultra (I think I left shadows on high, and maybe not all in with the AA filters). As for 5, Laymen gaming said the PC version had multiple technical issues unfortunately, lots of artifacting and graphical glitches. Reminds to be seen if MS takes the feedback and fix the game before launching. As for the characters, I didn't find JD particularly interesting either. TBH I didn't find anyone to be interesting really. As for Kait, my problem is that I've heard that voice actress so many times before it kinda breaks my immersion She was Serana in Skyrim vampire's DLC thing, Fiona in tales from the borderlands, Bianca in Inquisition. And that if I haven't heard her somewhere else.

Reminds to be seen if MS takes the feedback and fix the game before launching. Maybe you had no issues because you played closer to launch. The game's problems came a lot later with a Windows 10 update. Most of the issues are with Nvidia GPUs, but I have an AMD GPU, so I don't get most of those. My framerate is great, though. It's a very well optimized game. The only issue I had were the pre-rendered cutscenes.

Figures, fucking windows updates, I'm so tired of their BS honestly.

There's also a remastered version of the original Gears on PC (Gears of War: Ultimate Edition) that you might want to look into. Hopefully one day we'll get 2,3 and Judgment on PC as well.

For what it's worth, MS is bringing a lot of the Halo games they didn't release (all the main ones after 2) onto the PC with the Master Chief Collection, so hopefully something similar will happen with Gears.

Honestly, Tactics looks like my potential Gears franchise intro title. I know that's weird.

Yeah that definitely looks cool. Wonder how it'll work though. Would there be techs to research? develop the guns (there're not that many in the GoW universe anyways...) armor? Or would it be just a forward style more story oriented game rather than sandboxy like Xcom? I think they're going for the later if they already said the campaign is gonna be like 20 hours (was it 20?) On a game like Xcom 2 you can potentially drag the game forever if you so wish, so long as you keep the annoying bar filling thingy at bay.
