No, I'm saying we Brits know about slaying dragons and denying them their rights. After all, who in their right mind would allow them to burn down villages and eating all the sheep? I want some lamb chops damn it! Plus, I've had our boys in the SAS sneaking tea into DK'S drinks. Because after all..... .... No one suspects the British! 😈 Oh...there are those who would suspect the British... ... it's the Canadians no one ever suspects... because we're the friendliest people on the planet, Eh! What with our "hi ya doin, eh?" as we hand you a bottle of Duty-free 100% REAL, Fresh Maple Syrup and a six-pack from one of our many famous Canadian beer breweries such as Sleeman's or Moosehead. We're so friendly (well...except those from the West, such as places like Whistler. Snobs.....don't get me started) the East-Coasters, eh, they're so friendly it's hi-larious. Like those fine folk down in PEI, they could just meet you one moment....and within 5 minutes they're inviting you to their brother's wedding who will be naming his first born after you. And they have so much lobster-- they give it away for free by the crate. Dad once handed a worker 50 dollars (because here on Toronto, canned lobster is stupidly expensive) and he said "enough for a meal or two to feed a family of four, please"......The guy gave us enough that we were eating lobster every day (for lunch and dinner) for the next three weeks. Then we were at the Tourist Bureau looking for a place to stay, within 10 minutes a lady approached my dad and she said "I'm actually looking to rent my place, it's just ten minutes down yonder. Come on down and take a look-see." So we did. Stunning place. A-framed Viceroy cabin surrounded by water on three of four sides, filled with antiques and live-edge furniture. beautiful log cabin kinda look. Had to be at least 3 acres of property. She said she normally rents out the place for 2500 a week.....She gave it to us for 750 because we'd lost our deposit off another place that was running a scam.

The furthest East I've ever been is Ontario, but I've met some good people from the East coast. They do tend to make you feel welcome. Folks from BC tend to have a really great sense of humour, same with Ontario, but the humour there tends to be more satirical and sarcastic. As for friendliest..? Hmmm...I'd like to think of it more as a show of general respect, the friendliness is a means to size others up. Yes, there's generosity and a willingness to be helpful, but don't try taking advantage of that.

And we played a round of golf at the Chateau Whistler golf course. What a waste of money, I've played better courses here in Ontario for a fraction of the price. And that has been my only experience of being out West, so as you can see that is why I said earlier "Snobs....don't get me started". But I admit that was a skewed view from a one-time experience that although it left me with a bad impression, the label of "snob" from the West may be a broad and undeserving generalization. I am sure there are nice, friendly people there too!

In 2006 during a trip up the coast to Alaska via cruise ship (amazing trip!) we stopped in Whistler for an extra week to visit my cousins and also my dad's cousins. While we were in Whistler we stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler....it was nice enough I guess. But I didn't like the 'town' of whistler; the shops etc, the layout...was very theme park-looking. Canada's Wonderland, if you know to what I am referring. I got lost (because I'm terrible with directions, especially in unfamiliar settings) so I walked in to a store on the grounds and asked for directions. The guy at the counter wouldn't even acknowledge me. Never once even so much as batted an eyelash in my direction. He pointed back out the door and said very sharply "it's just over there." And we played a round of golf at the Chateau Whistler golf course. What a waste of money, I've played better courses here in Ontario for a fraction of the price. The greens were hard and dried out, the fairways were dead and brown. It was not a nice course nor a positive experience. And they raved about their 5 Star course/hotel ratings, priding themselves and the ritzy amenities they offered. The shuttle that came to pick us up from the hotel to the course was a rusted out, broken down, beat up Range Rover. The leather seats were hard as rock, old and cracking, the interior was dirty (and Range Rovers are well over 100,000 CAD. For what?) and the brakes needed work because they seriously squeaked. I've never been to Whistler, but spending the majority of my life in Alberta, I've met many folks who are from BC and who travel back and forth. For the most part, the ones I've met were laid back and liked to joke around a lot. The Folks I've met from Ontario also like to joke around also, but the humour is a bit more dry and they have this "fuck you" gleam in their eye. I spent over four years in and around Sudbury and there was a mixture of folks, some were really nice others were decent enough, I never was able to adjust to the Ontario heat and humidity though. Out here on the prairies the rain actually cools things down, out there is just turns to a mist that just sticks to ya. The scenery was beautiful though...I loved it in the fall. I was only in Toronto once, for a couple of hours and even then we were visiting a family member who was in a care home waiting for a lung transplant, so we didn't do any sight seeing. As for the "snobs" out West. yeah, we have a few, but I'm sure they exist everywhere.

As for the "snobs" out West. yeah, we have a few, but I'm sure they exist everywhere. Yes, the humidity absolutely kills me. I hate this 30 (feeling like 43) 26 feeling like 37.....then one day 25 no humidity. Perfect day. Then 19. And Ontario Winters are even worse but for equal reason. It's -10 feeling like -29, 0 feeling like -17 and so on....And the worst months of all is that stretch between February and April where Mother Nature is a real bi-polar b**ch. The weather is constantly up/down....and then bam, we get a stretch of stupid cold like -18 feeling like -39 (for two or three weeks straight). Or what's just as bas is the stretch in march-april where there's very little to no snow on the ground (which can act as insulation and have an affect on temperatures) so even -2 feeling like -21. I've always said there are 12 months in a year, 4 seasons. Each season should be 3 months long with change of weather according. Spring is March, April and May. with temperatures measured in Celcius ranging between 5 and 14 degrees Summer: June, July August, temps ranging between 22 and 30 degree (NO Humidity) Fall: September, October and November. (15 to 24 degrees) Winter: December, January February. (0 to -20 no windchill factor) DONE. There, problem solved. While I love all the seasons and I love the change of seasons, which especially in the Fall....is something fairly unique to the regions of Ontario/Quebec with the changing colours of the leaves on the trees. If I had to choose, I would say hands-down Fall is my favourite season. Nicest weather and the best time for fresh food. Fresh fruits/veggies....Tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes, corn on the cob, fresh beans.....MMM!

Fresh fruits/veggies....Tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes, corn on the cob, fresh beans.....MMM! Northern Ont winters are bad...too much snow IMO. I watched as snow fell in a park and reached the backstop of a basketball hoop stand thingy, two storey houses would get buried up to their second story windows and cold snaps would last an entire month, with blizzards blowing in every couple of days. Nah, I never want to go through another winter out there...or summer either. Nope. Spring was ok, it was always amazing how quickly all that snow would melt, but fall was the best. A lot of people do have gardens out there and you never had to travel far to find a patch of brush to pick wild blue berries, raspberries and strawberries. The abundance of wildlife was nice too. If you can deal with the weather, it is a beautiful place.

Tl;Dr drink
I haven't seen that much text since I last ventured into the DA forums. Don't misinterpret me, I'm not trying to get y'all to stop your conversation. I'm not used to seeing so much text in this thread.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
