I'm afraid your lacking in factual information, go to destinys forums, look up destiny tracker and the various articles on its dropping population being at an all time low and investors backing out of the franchises investments. As someone who frequents destiny I AM NOT wrong. D1 had its issues, enough that I knew D2 would probably carry on but in a worse state and I was right so I don't feel bad for dropping it. Come D3 you'll see those sales plummet because people learned their lesson in D2, you can't fool people three times... sales are important but only to an extent to a live service game. If you want your game to last "10 years" sales ultimately mean little, you need a reason to keep players coming back so player population is far more important in this instance. Sales are only a short term thing and that's the issue these companies face, they don't think to much for the long term even if they want make it that long. Uhh, no. The numbers and comparisons are published on the Reddit. They're free for everyone to see. Your comments on sales are ridiculous on their faces. They're the primary revenue driver even in mtx/live service models except of course for f2p models, not to mention they're a prerequisite to derive the downstream revenue. You'd know that if you've even ever glanced at any of these companies' financial statements. You're arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. Get on them destiny forums and educate yourself.

There isn't even agreement on how to interpret the data: www.pcgamesn.com/destiny-2/destiny-2-daily-population-tracker""Daily Unique users is a misleading statistics to use as basis for the active population of the game, any game in that matter. Not everyone plays video games 24/7, besides maybe at launch. We hoped our article would've cleared this up a bit but it seems it hasn't. To halt people from making false narratives based on the numbers we provide we decided to stop showing them in this chart.”
That comes after posts like this one from Reddit, which show Destiny’s player counts on console dropping precipitously in a fairly short span of time. There are of course various ways to interpret that data, but it does mean that fewer users are making daily logins to Destiny 2 - and it’s important to note that these are daily active users rather than peak concurrents.
There are a variety of reasons for the drop in players. One is a natural falling off after exhausting the starter content. Destiny has less content than the MMOs it often emulates, and once you’ve gotten your gear and done the raids, there’s not much to keep you coming back unless you’re deeply invested in PvP. There’s also the obvious mark that yeah, nobody plays videogames 24/7.
But none of that changes the fact of the data, and it’s bizarre to see a theoretically independent API tracker take efforts to obscure that information, even in light of it being used to suggest Destiny is losing popularity."Daily active users is back up as a single data point (like, yesterday), but the chart is still down. The stats == lies phenomena is alive and kicking. Notice that Reddit is attributed for the negative narrative.

Already half the thread is name-calling. We're not going to do that. We're done here. (apologies to those who tried to have a civil discussion, we can revisit this if the dates turn out to match)
