My intention is that when the time comes, Loghain will be recruited and then sacrificed to the archdemon.
Currently, I'm doing Soldier's Peak. My question is: Should Avernus'fate be the same as Loghain's?
Both of them are people who've done horrible things and can be spared due to their usefulness.Does this mean I should either kill them both or spare them both?
I want to keep my character consistent.

Your character can be consistent but don't kill or spare everyone who guilty and useful. They're not same, the circumstances aren't same, your character's belief, the mood not same, you can spare one of them and kill the another one...

My Cousland and Amell always spares Avernus. Because it's like what Duncan says the Wardens would do anything to defeat the Blight. I just make him do 'good' experiments. As for Loghain, I had two Couslands who personally executed him. I have one mage Amell that spared him for the same reason Duncan said about doing whatever is necessary. Plus Loghain's a brilliant tactician and General.

Did the Wardens who spared Avernus also spare Loghain? I've only spared Loghain once as a mage, and I did spare Avernus at the same time. But I specifically told Avernus to do good experiments that would benefit the Wardens. Also Avernus also says when the Warden calls him a blood mage, he says that a Warden does whatever is necessary to stop the Blight. So he echoes Duncan's and Alistair's words. Alistair said Warden's would sometimes burn entire villages to stop the Darkspawn in their tracks. So sparing both Avernus and Loghain is at the same time is small in comparison. So yes, I've saved both in the same playthrough.

If you do plan to recruit Loghain wait to play the Dlc until you have him as he has unique dialogues about warden peaks Avernus was punished enough already by remaining locked into that tower for a century or more, killing him and thus sparing him the pain of the calling isn't a punishment.

Avernus should keep doing his experiments for the good of the wardens.
