In the little codex entries in 2016, it was hinted that the Slayer had a sword at some point *Puts on tin foil hat* What if, after being sent back to Hell by Hayden in the previous game, the Slayer gets his way back to the Wretch, the being who gave him his armor and powers, and gets a few upgrades and his old sword back. When the UAC fucks up, yet again, he comes back all decked out and ready to do what he does best. Just a thought. Could be. Guess we have to wait till more Intel is dropped (which sucks!).

I have been thinking, what if that demon that helped Doomslayer was that doctor guy turned demon from the ending in Doom 3 and the main badguy from Doom 3: RoE? (I forget his name).

Betruger. Who becomes the Maledict. And that would be weird as he's destroyed in that timeline.
Oh, and Betruger > Olivia, obviously.
But yeah, I liked the Soul Cube. The concept was fascinating, the design was adequately alien, and the mechanics were fine. I'm also fine with the sword being a mystical replacement of the chainsaw. But as long as you have the requirements met(ammo? souls?), it should be at will. Contextual would suck ass.

Honestly, I am just trying to figure out who that demon that helped Doomslayer is. Betruger beats Olivia all the way.

Doom 2016 had one of the best soundtracks on a videogame, a fitting soundtrack too.

It would be funny if it came out on the same day as Metro and Anthem. Well, maybe not so much for those who are waiting for Anthem...

Here's a thread close to my heart, because I'm currently playing the original Doom 2, on the Doomsday source port with all the high resolution models and texture packs, on the Ultraviolence difficulty (and now I'm sounding like Big Mac Davis ). I've never actually managed to complete The Plutonia Experiment on Ultraviolence, despite having had the game since the mid 90s, and so my next task after vanilla Doom 2 is to have a go at this. It's going to be tough, rough and nasty but someone has to do it. Before setting off for work this morning I left Doom Guy standing at the entrance to Map 28 - The Spirit World, after just completing Monster Condo, which is the hardest original Doom 2 map of all in my opinion. I have a bit of a problem with Doom 3, in that I just cannot kill one of the bosses, no matter how hard I try - and can only get past it by cheating. I'm talking about 'The Guardian'. For some reason it just doesn't sync with my playstyle. I've watched a hundred Youtube videos of others killing it, I've practices and practiced and practiced - I know the required method, but knowing it and doing it are different, and I end up having to use God mode. There's some fundamental aspect of the fight that I can't seem to grasp. Maybe it just comes down to the fact that it requires quite fast reflexes, you must constantly move and carefully target the little scanner things at the same time? I dunno. It's really frustrating, and none of the other bosses cause me trouble - even the final boss of Resurrection of Evil (considered the hardest) is fine. Doom 3's Guardian is my video game nemesis. Doom 4 I absolutely hate. After trying it for around two hours I simply uninstalled it as I could bear no more of it. It ranks among the worst game purchases of my life.

Sorry, but there it is. You'll rarely find people who are just 'well meh' about Doom 2016, it's very, very divisive, you'll either love or hate it - and I'm a hater. I'd rather suck on the exhaust pipe of a lorry than play Doom 2016 again. If we break it down, we'll see that the people who like it are often the ones who naturally play games quickly and aggressively as a matter of course. They'll blast through maps and levels, running and gunning constantly, strafing around obstacles and never standing still. The ones who hate it are often more like myself - they prefer to take maps and levels very slowly and methodically, sneaking round corners, sniping enemies from cover, setting up ambushes and killing grounds etc. Doom 2016 actively punishes anyone who tries to play it in this manner - which is why I personally don't like it. Doom 3 was far more my cup of tea.

Doom 3 was far more my cup of tea. I'm mostly meh about Doom'16. I also prefer Doom 3. I don't mind run and gun and faster pace action, but I'm not one of those doing lines of it off a hexagonal mirror. I will suggest doing a new game plus run of Doom'16. You get all the weapons you finished with, including upgrades and runes. Between the scope on the assault rifle and the scope (or even siege mode) on the gauss cannon, you should be covered for sniping. It'll still be fast, but you would have the power to play it closer to your style. Of course that does involve playing it straight at least once- unless you cheat. Because Doom is not a sneaking or sniping game, its a run and gun game and has been since the 90s. Everything is a sniping game now. Even run and gun. And speak for yourself. I was playing Doom II closer to what he's describing.
